McAfee Set to Hit FA?

John Waylon

I listened in to the Bob and Tom show for a short spell this morning and he was guest hosting for Bob, and Tom made mention that he was a Colt for now, but set for free agency the 11th of March.

He's been on the show a great deal recently, and it seems to me like they're trying to keep him around as much as possible because before long he may very rarely be around.

I would not read too much into it.  It is just a true statement, he's a Colts and until he gets a new contract he will be set to be a FA come March 11.  I really don't see any reason the Colts would not sign him, he is young, one of the better punters in the league and he handles kick-off duties.   Not to mention the other things he does for the team and for Colts.com.

Unless he starts asking for starting QB type money, he will be signed to a new contract.

I feel people love Pat more than his play.

If we fix the o-line properly, we won't need a punter anyway!

haha that's funny cause that's my motto when I play NCAA 14

I punt on average 2times if even that a game. 4th & 1 near my own endzone? Not playing field position, I'm going for it

Punting is for losers lol

I actually thought he came up pretty small late in the season.

Leg gave out. Punted too many times this year. Hopefully that changes next season

Yea Colts are getting a bit ridiculous with signing him. Franchise tagging him twice? He's a kicker for gosh sakes. Just pay him his 3 -4 million for 4 years and get it over with. He's a keeper!

Don't want to spend a lot? Franchise Vinatieri

I like McAfee, but not for $3 million a year. Cody Webster, Purdue can be picked up in the 6th Rd. He had to punt A Lot at Purdue and was a Ray Guy Award Finalist.

3 million is not a lot. It's not like he's even gonna take much cap space. You are paying for a that makes critical plays as a safety net. Like tackling the broncos kr guy.

Just like we made 5 million off the ball bouncing off Sateles head for the Superman touchdown...

Those 5 million we payed to Satele kept us in the playoffs

I'm pretty sure even I could stand there and have a ball bounce off my head.

I find it hard to believe that other teams would view a punter as a priority signing and give him big cash as well. Typically Punters and Kickers are paid way more by their own teams than by other teams in FA. I want him back, and think of it this way, it saves using a draft pick on a punter.
