I don't know how seriously to take Pagano gushing about Powers. I saw him do the same thing about Dwight Freeney on more than one occasion and they let him go. Pagano speaks of "I sure hope" he's playing for us, and "If he's not, he'll be playing for somebody". His language is not certain, nor does it sound any where as sure as the statements they've made about Fili Moala for instance. I still maintain they will let him walk.

Yeah, no one is going to tip their hand before 3/12. The only thing we know for sure is that they'll probably keep that #12 guy around. At least through the OTAs.

I think the chat should be open for tomorrow's workouts. DB's Galore tomorrow Guys!!!!

I guess I need to pay attention tomorrow then. All I really want in April is about 3 decent o-linemen to give Luck a clean pocket, keep him upright, & help Ballard excel in the running game. We need to see our RBs hit the 2nd level before they are stopped.

We may get those 3 as well. Who knows what's gonna happen this off-season?

I wouldnt mind banks as our first pick, but if we miss him and If milliner slips we should grab him. Even if he's recovering from surgery. We can't be to sure what we are doing in the draft until we start signing free agents

That would be a pipe dream. Even with the surgery I doubt Milliner makes it out of the top-10. I like Banks and Rhodes. Either or I would be happy with for that first round pick.

I wouldn't mind banks lack of speed I mean vaughn was fast and look how much of a "pro" he was...we weren't hurt by speed we were hurt by lack of size being out jumped by bigger physical receivers. banks has the physical attributes to handle a big reciever vontae has a bit of both (shadowed torrey smith in the Baltimore game completely ineffective) we've only been demolished by bigger tall reciever other than that Banks is still a good pick and if Rhodes is an option id take either one.

we arent taking a CB with the first pick and our No.2 pick IS a corner...Vonate Davis

..We dont have a huge need at CB......Our needs begin and end in the lines.

While, I agree that O-line is the primary need, you are absolutely insane if you think we don't have a big need at CB. I keep telling people that O-line is going to be addressed through free agency and the D-line talent by the time we pick, isn't anything real impressive IMO. If Rhodes is there when we pick, I would bet that he'll be our pick.(Thats assuming nothing happens between now and then).

Essentially what I'm saying is.....Unless Warmack or Cooper fall way further than expected, IMO there is no better value than Rhodes, if he's still available.

Rhodes looks legit!!! Now, will he last until our pick is the question.

I don't see how Grigson keeping an undersized/injury prone/clipboard holding Powers on the roster. Possibly for depth, but he can't be starting.

Also, Cassius Vaughn's only weapon is his helmet, so for the love, he needs to be cut. Yesterday.

I like Butler. I think he's our answer at nickel.

Rhodes is the big I like....Vaccaro....Elam....still like Cyprientoo....we had some luck with TY from Floria International....kid looks like Bob Sanders.3rd???  I do not think he is rated 9th anymore, but someone may know better than I on this....

Jonathan Cyprien, S, Florida International

Height: 6-0. Weight: 209. Arm: 30 1/2. Hand: 10 1/8.

Projected 40 Time: 4.60.

Projected Round (2013): 3-4.

1/31/13: Cyprien is one of those small-school players who really helped himself at the Senior Bowl. He made his presence felt all week. Cyprien was a tough defender who was hitting hard in the ground game. He also really impressed with his pass coverage by demonstrating the ability to run with receivers and cover tight ends. The passing-driven NFL is looking for safeties with that skill set.

I've ways liked Powers myself. He's layed some people out and he can make some great plays. Unfortunalely the guy just can't stay healthy. I'd feel confident with him as backup with some playing time on a per game basis, but it would be nice to get a young kid via the draft or bring in a solid CB through FA.

I am with Malakai on Powers.  I do think it is an injury issue.  I am also not convinced the last few years made him look bad because we played off of the ball 7 yards (2011 and before)  Before his latest injury , he was not looking bad in the new defense.  His productivity went down as the injuries mounted and increased in severity.

He could come back as nickel, but not sure if it is worth the money.  New blood is fine with me...I walk the tight rope on this one.....does not matter either way...

I think your 3rd sentence might have something to do with the 2nd sentence

    • Did Hou actually get that much better? This really does remain to be seen. I am of the opinion that the signing of Diggs is a signing that has been made about 2 years too late. He won't be bad, but he isn't a top 10 WR in the NFL anymore. I wouldn't put him as any more dangerous that Pittman, so WR's are a push. We have the better RB, Mixon is great and all, but he is not JT. We have the better Oline, and it isn't even close. TE's are a push, we have a lot of upside, but until it is realised im very "meh" on our TEs. QB - I would argue that Stroud is probably more likely to regress to the mean in year 2 vs improve. That rookie season of his was a bit silly, and they had an easier schedule last season too. If he really does build on last year and get even better, then our entire discourse here is probably irrelevant as we will have another Mahomes level QB on our hands to deal with in the AFC and within the AFC South no less. So unless Richardson is also a Mahomes level talent in that scenario, we are done for anyways. To me, our success in this coming season comes down to 2 groups on this entire team. 1. The QB (because... duh) 2. Our DBs. If we even get average play from the DBs, I think this team has the ability to win the whole damned thing (supposing Richardson stays healthy and is what we all hope he is). I would also argue that Houston are paper thin. If they lose a OL starter, Mixon or even one of their starting WRs.... they have a very big drop off. And injuries happen in the NFL. Just sayin...
    • If he wasn’t fast enough or athletic enough anymore for linebacker, then he’s not going to be able to cut it at Safety where speed , quickness, athleticism are even more important.    Wish it wasn’t so….
    • could he be another bob sanders at that position?
    • Man I love me some Maniac, but it won't happen, and he's too slow after his surgeries.
    • Im down to join any leagues if y'all need a fill-in!
