So does everyone still want Baltimore in the playoffs?

Quite frankly, Baltimore is probably the only team we have a chance to defeat in the playoffs. I'm happy were in, but I'm also realistic enough to realize that we are not as good as our record would indicate. We have gotten extremely lucky throughout this season and if we have to play a team with a very good offense, we are going to get destroyed. Not trying to be a downer but just the way I see it.

Even though they are looking good against the giants and they look  good, but they Giants haven done anything good they last few week. We on the other we our getting our head coach back so we might give us a little boost and lets not forget that we might have 2 weeks not sure if that matter though.

I guess I'm going to have to be that guy and I apologize in advance. Every year the Manning led Colts went to the playoffs all of the talking heads brought up his below average performances in the playoffs. Yet this year everyone is saying Denver is the scariest team in the playoffs, and they are the Superbowl favorites. Did going to the Broncos change everyone's perception of Peyton?

I was always a believer that it was more the scheme and mindset of the team as a whole more than JUST Peyton. Didn't help that he'd throw innopportune picks, but...

Like Green Bay?

It's either Baltimore, Denver, Houston or New England.

I'll take Baltimore over Brady and Peyton. I'd think about the Texans, but I'd still go with the Ravens. The Ravens haven't been good the last month or so. Today's game against the Giants seems to be the first sign of life from their offense in awhile.

How about us coming to terms with the fact that the Broncos are a better team than a lot of us want to give them credit for? Also, how about us accepting that the Giants are not as good a team like we want/think them to be??? Just call it like it is. :)

Considering we won't see them unless we go to the SB, I don't see how that's relevant, but Yes. I know we beat them back in week 5 (which I'm guessing is what you're referring to), but the playoffs are a whole different atmosphere and they were struggling at the time. They are rolling now.

At this point...anyone we see in the playoffs is going to be a tough match up.  If Baltimore plays like they are today then we will likely be one & done but given the other possible suspects, I'd still take our chances against them versus the rest of the field.  Ravens have still been inconsistent over the past few weeks so you just never know when the bad Ravens will show back up.

He has a defense ranked in top 5 Rush D and top 10 pass D plus #3 scoring D. He doesn't have to throw 300+ yards now that's why

Meh...Peyton always looks real good in the regular season.  Playoff time is when we usually see his familiar season ending sour face. I fear Brady in the post-season more than Manning.  Both would probably take us behind the woodshed but at least with Manning there is always the chance he could toss a pick six or three if he gets flustered.

He was not below average in the playoffs, that is a major misconception . By elimination the defense they played in the playoffs , by large measure, were above average, that's why they were in the playoffs. He was stellar in some games, singlehandedly got them to the 04 title game with near perfect  performances, just so so in the 06 title run , average in most. He was not a stellar performer like Brady or Montana but he wasn't awful either. I  always thought he pressed too much  . I think he has made the Broncos much better but I still question whether they are SB material, we'll see.

We are the 5th seed , so that means we play the 4th seed. Houston cannot be the 4th seed. Unlikely that Denver loses to KC , so that should leave either NE or Balt as the 4 seed. NE once dumped a game to drop down a seed to play an easier opponant. However this seems unlikely as they play at 1 PM  and have a chance for a bye if they win. So it can't be Houston , shouldn't be Denver and will probably be Balt. If not Balt , will be NE.

Pretty good assessment IMO. Other than that no punt allowed game vs KC , you just never came away from a playoff game saying somethig like "Manning had an inhuman effort to lead the Colts to that win." I'm anxious to see how effective PM will be if Denver plays a cold , windy game this January.

I feel NE will play for the bye at home knowing Houston's odds in Indy too and Pagano being back. I also think they will feel better playing Cincy if need be over the more experienced Steelers who they did go and try to avoid in 2005 in that game.

However, I also feel Baltimore may want to play us as well and the rookie QB on the road in his first playoff game over Dalton who knows them well. I am not sure they want Cincy in back to back weeks either....Baltimore has been struggling and they probably think their best shot is vs. us. Likewise we feel our best shot is vs. them too lol.

There is a shot to play NE but it's most likely Baltimore. NE also did not have the best game vs. the Jags so they need to sharpen up things too IMO and they rarely drop back to back games at home.

The only thing left to determine is what happens with the Houston/Indy results.

Besides there is that small outside chance KC upsets Denver. Very small chance but none the less a chance, who saw KC beating GB last year too? Yeah stuff happens even if we are not counting on it.

If the other choices are New England, the texans and the broncos them yes. We have the best shot vs. the ravens. Note shot does not make us a favorite.

And if you are Baltimore and you might be in the midst of the swan song for Ray Lewis you might feel Indy is your best shot at a home playoff win too over a tough division rival you just played the week before.

No doubt while we think we have our best shot vs. Baltimore they might feel the same about us lol.

they might very well and they might be right but they are our best option of the four but I wouldn't say any of the four is a team you truly want to play.

    • I elaborated in a later post, as a reference to DougDew’s past arguments that it was purely luck that Raimann outplayed his draft slot. Then my contention that it was still Ballard and not another GM that took the swing to be the beneficiary thus not letting Raimann’s draft fall go to waste and cash in, so he deserves credit for that.   Flash forward, same thing with Mitchell.
    • It makes far more sense when you bring in other GMs into it because unless you do it, knowing that you’re a Grigson fan, it felt you were trying everything to discredit Ballard.
    • And @Superman.  When did I ever say that Ballard didn't have the player he selected as his BPA the time he selected him?    The luck comes into play when a talented player such as AM or Raimann falls and is your BPA when you're on the clock.  Its not like Ballard knew they would be there, and finally pulled the trigger before one of the other 31 GMs caught on to what he knew all along.   Ballard himself said he had no idea how this stuff plays out, and that he got lucky (that the guy he had as his BPA on the board was so talented).  Me and Chris seem to see the draft working the same way I guess.    As far as Raimann, who appears to be a top 10 OT that was picked after a struggling AP and Woods...for whatever reason he was picked behind them.....the situation is no different than other players who turned out better than their draft slot would suggest:  Polian got lucky that Mathis turned out to be the player he did. (He had no idea). NE with Brady. (had no idea)  SF with Purdy. (had no idea).  And Ballard with Raimann.  Why would I choose to tell myself that Ballard's benefit from Raimann being a better player than he and every other 31 GM thought he would be (this early), is different than the luck Polian, BB, and Lynch benefitted from?    In the interview, Ballard is being candid.  He is telling us that he (and other GMs) get lucky, when the convo is about specific players sometimes.
    • Another factor is pressure rate. You do realize that the Colts drafted a guy named Latu and hired a dline coach named Partridge for a reason... right?
    • The Eagles love Rodgers so much that their first 2 picks were cornerbacks.
