Bring back RYS?

Recommended Posts

What are peoples general thoughts on bringing back RYS? I wonder why he is still out there as a FA?

I know we traded him for Ngakoue, so we might not have thought all that much of him internally, but his season before we traded him was solid. Not amazing, but solid. And considering that we just traded away Gilmore for a bag of peanuts, why not bring him back into the fold to start opposite Rodgers on the outside? You cant't tell me he isn't an upgrade over Dallis Flowers or Tony Brown...

I’m totally good with this.   I hope it happens.   But if it doesn’t, not only is this a very very good class of corners, it’s a very good and deep class of TALL and LONG corners.  So I could see drafting CBx2.

Rock played well his last year with the Colts.  I would be happy to see him return. Rock did have some unkind words about the Colts leadership on the way out.  Rock, Peters, and Griffin are still out there.

Rock is visiting Baltimore. The Colts had interest in Griffin a couple of years ago. He played his best in a cover-3 scheme.  Ballard definitely had nothing but positive things to say about Rock so it’s possible but I think they sign Griffin.

I was away on vacation when Rock was traded.    Do you remember what negative things he had to say when he was traded?   I’d be very curious.   That hasn’t happened much under Ballard.

Basically said they got complacent and let off the gas. He said he was excited to join the Raiders because that wouldn’t happen there.

Well they did go 6-11 so I wouldn't call them exactly being complacent and holding down the gas?

Just saying.  :dunno:

I’d rather , sign another vet and draft someone in the second round. RYS was very raw and often penalized a lot because he played very aggressive. Although he was injured for most of his tenure with Oakland when he did play it wasn’t that well.

After trading him in the prime of his career? Bad look...pass

Actually, he’s just entering his prime. Rock is a good player.  He cut his penalties the last year with the Colts. Solid tackler. He doesn’t produce a lot of turnovers though.

    • Exactly, as long as we are healthy going into opening day then that is all that matters.    By the way, that is one of the best and funniest posts I have seen all year in here, I have to give it a Homer laugh
    • Era's are so different, it would seem LeBron could play in any era and be dominant but in the 80's and 90's the game was way more physical. How would LeBron do against a team like the 1989 Pistons for example? We don't know?, if they allowed the Pistons play by the rules they played with back then.    Regarding the Pacers their 1998 team was the best IMO. We had the Bulls beat in Game 7, I still believe we got screwed by the REFS. Whether or not we would have beat Utah is a different subject but that would have been a hell of a series. Utah would have had HCA.
    • Yeah I try not to let my Colts bias get in the way when I do lists, it is tough sometime. I can understand why anyone would say Randy should be ranked higher. Randy was a freak and was so tall, a QB could just throw a long one to him and on 50/50 balls, he would catch it.    I have gone back and forth over the years regarding Peyton and Tom. My Colts bias says Peyton is the GOAT, he is also my favorite player of all-time so I hate, let me repeat I hate putting Tom #1. I just factor in everything but saying Peyton is #3 isn't a dis , that is practically saying he is damn near the GOAT. I have Montana 2nd because I felt like during the 80's which had all kinds of great teams, he won 4 SB's and was flawless in those SB's. You don't get anymore clutch than him.   I get the Emmitt Smith hate on this board, most here hate the Cowboys but once again when ranking players people should put that aside IMO. Otherwise the list becomes who somebody loves and hates.
