How about Art Schlicter? He’s had some   Time to put together a gameplan or 2! Get him a couple key bumps and he’s good to go!

Funny.  Art was an assistant HS coach about 15 years ago for a very small HS near his prison.  I guess when he got released he had some GF who he lived with in the area.

Every time I hear Saturday speak he's talking about establishing the run, so maybe Ballard is down with it.  Who knows.

Bird had no experience when the Pacers hired him as coach in 1997.  That worked out.

That is true about Bird man.

I actually kind of love this.

Colts fans love Saturday, he should have a good impact on what seems to be a sour locker room, and he knows the organisation inside out.

This season is a write off anyway so if he sucks we just have a higher draft pick and go another direction on the off-season. If he doesn't suck then that's great too!

Colts need Texans to win a few more games so we can get into the top two because I doubt they are winning anymore games. I hope the Texans beat us again lol.

Don't they have two picks in the top 5? They may draft another QB as well.

From Kevin Bowen:

https://1075thefan.com/87276/colts-hire-jeff-saturday-as-interim-head-coach/

...Despite in-house interim candidates in Bubba Ventrone, John Fox and Gus Bradley, the Colts have elected to make quite the headline with Saturday as the interim for the final 8 games of 2022.

Clearly, the Colts have had massive offensive line issues in 2022.

I guess this is one way to address it.

Now, Saturday (with likely Peyton Manning approval) joins his former teammate Reggie Wayne on the Indy coaching staff.

Jeff Saturday, Indianapolis Colts interim head coach.

As the world turns.

Yep. Just what we have been saying. Not sure that’s good for players to be worried about what he is going to say to Irsay.

I get the idea behind that but he couldn't have done this as some type of paid consultant? What exactly did that conversation look like between Saturday and Irsay. Irsay: Jeff, I want you to go undercover for me and see who is pulling their weight in this franchise. Saturday: Sure, but how do you want me to do that Jim? Irsay: I was thinking we would just tell everyone that you are the new head coach so no one would suspect a thing. Saturday: Good plan boss, I am "all in."

Do you know how insanely bizarre this sounds? Please tell me this is not the real reason? Has Irsay completely fallen off his rocker?

First. firing Reich was good and bad because they have no OL, no QB, a RB with a bad wheel and questionable backups at the RB position and on defense #53 is not 100%. So, who is going to step into this pile of poop?  It is ridiculous to criticize the decision for an interim HC at this point. The big questions are 1.) how bad is this team? and 2.) Can anyone pick a person that can step in and fix it? Comparing the hideous embarrassment against the Pats while knowing they beat KC this year is a real head scratcher. Green Bay has lost five straight .....why? At least Saturday will replace "looking at films" with good old fashion butt chewing

They want an overseer and motivator.  Let the coordinators coordinate.

Who knows if Ballard is on board or not.  He was interested in Dan Campbell who had never been a coordinator.

This team could have Vince Lombardi and be going nowhere this season

But perhaps Saturday can turn out to be a good head coach? It's worth a shot.

Even next year, the choices will probably all be...

either uninspiring, recycled former coaches...

Or unproven younger assistants.

Can't hurt to try Saturday?

I'm still shaking my head on this one.  I thought the Colts might go with John Fox who has head coaching experience but choosing Jeff Saturday was a move no one could have seen coming.  Jeff Saturday was one of my favorite Indianapolis Colt and UNC Tar Heel players when he was on the field and I hope this decision turns out to be a mad stroke of genius on Irsay's part.  With no real big time coaching experience the odds are long against Saturday turning this into a permanent position but I'll be pulling for him.

Do you really think Fox would be good?

Jeff Saturday comes in and Colts win every game the rest of the season including the playoffs where they beat the Eagles 63 to 0!

Players and coaches are so blown away by Colts that they convince Roger G to move Superbowl Sunday to Saturday in honor of the GOAT Jeff Saturday!

Colts change their logo to a picture of Saturday's face and never look back

Who will call plays for the Colts?

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/11/07/who-will-call-plays-for-the-colts/

...Candidates include quarterbacks coach Scott Milanovich, pass game specialist/assistant quarterbacks coach Parks Frazier, offensive line coach Chris Strausser, receivers coach Reggie Wayne, running backs coach Scottie Montgomery, and tight end coach Klayton Adams.

Or Saturday could hire an outsider to fill the vacant position of offensive coordinator. Maybe Saturday could bring ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky with him from Bristol to do the job.

No, that would be crazy. Almost as crazy as hiring an interim head coach with no college or pro coaching experience.
