You know what? JMV gets a lot of credit, but he's said a lot of things that haven't turned out to be true, going back to January. Just last week, he was convinced Pagano wouldn't make it through the week. He also tends to blur the line between speculating and reporting.

I would agree with this. He seems to be a well-sourced guy, but in the event that he doesn't have well-sourced info, he seems to shoot from the hip a little bit. I enjoy his show because he has Kravitz, Bowen, Holder, & Doyel on pretty frequently, so it's usually pretty informative, but even those guys do their fair share of guessing when it comes to Colts news & rumors.

I think the most likely scenario is that Luck being done for the year is a forgone conclusion, so the front office totally has it's sights set to 2018. Everything else is smoke & mirrors to make that reality more digestible for season ticket holders and fans who were really hoping to see Luck in action this year.

Yeah, I don't take his word as a fact so much as I trust him a little more than most other local sources. That's probably not saying much though because I don't think much of any of our local sources.

He was wrong in saying he thought Chuck would be fired but I do tend to believe he heard rumblings it would happen. Especially in the midst of all that craziness that Sunday night after the Jags game. But yeah, I think that's where the blur comes in, like you say. Said he'd heard stuff,  really put out his belief that he'd be fired, but never really said it was a done deal that he'd be fired. I think he handles most rumors that way at least in part so that he can protect his rep a little bit. He does do a whole lot of "now, it's just what I've heard, but..." type rumors.

I still don't understand why the Colts gave him that huge contract extension last year. He was still under contract for this year right?

Relatively speaking, it's not even that big compared to other QB contracts that have been signed since. Carr and Stafford both got more, and neither of those guys have even won a single playoff game.

He was holding on to the Chuck thing up until Wednesday's presser, well beyond the time when any move would have been made. I thought he came off looking a little silly on that one.

No, we would have had to tag him this year.

The Colts handled his contract extension just right.

Let's say they waited until this year, I wonder what kind of contract Luck would have been offered and accepted?

That definintely was silly. I thought he seemed less confident from Monday-Wednesday but yeah, he held onto the belief.

No longer care about rumors, which have been too many nor tweets, which are endless. When Ballard steps up to the mic and says "we are putting him on IR" or "Andrew is starting this week", that's when I'll pay attention. Like watching some bad soap opera, he said, he said, none of which turns out to be true.

Team has enough to worry about with the guys who are actually on the field. Why can't we have one of those nice rumors, like some second string guy playing so far above his head coach is talking about him taking some vets place. But nooooooo, we are stuck with Luck rumor #104....

Chances we use our top 5 pick on a QB?!

COULD BE VERY POSSIBLE

Lots of people in denial about this right now. You have a top pick and Luck is still having problems you have  to pull the trigger or risk becoming the 80s Colts again. Contrary to popular opinion on here I don't believe flying around to multiple specialists is a good sign. This guy might be done as we know him . Absolutely no guarantee any of these college QB are going to be any good but QB is THE most important position in sports.

I was one of those people. For months I was optimist, but one thing after another and here we are. Not a good situation for Luck or the Colts

Because?

You end up getting handcuffed to a guy like the Ravens did with Joe Flacco. They let him play out the last year of his deal on a "prove it" basis, and he ended up winning the Super Bowl. Had they signed him a year before, they probably could've gotten him for A LOT cheaper than $120mil.

April's a LONG time from now, and I think there could be some indicators prior to that. For instance, how they approach the head coaching position could be a big one.

ie. If it's a big name, Luck is probably going to be good to go. If it's Coach The Fish, he's probably not good to go..

not surprised.  Question is though, if they don't know a cause, is it a mental thing?  As one who's had surgery on stuff like that, the mental aspect of feeling every little tweak/touch/hit/ movement and getting used to it takes a LOT of time.  It took me close to 3 years to fully get passed the fear of worrying about retearing my ACL.  and im not a pro QB getting hit.

He implied that the issues were physical but it could be a mental thing too.

Actually, yes. Some of it could be.

I saw. I'm simply saying that if they cant find a true physical cause despite multiple opinions, its quite possible its a mental thing.

It’s likely a little of both. Many overhead athletes come back from surgery and rejoin their team(s) and play from 1 1/2 to 3 months before they report feeling like they’re 100%

The team wants him to throw. He gets paid millions to play. If he's trying to not throw we might have a problem, and those rumors he wants out may have some validity.

You’re not kidding. I tore my ACL as a freshman when some * ran his helmet into my foot bending my leg the wrong way a second after I had punted the ball.

There wasn’t another snap in highschool that I took where I didn’t have some primal fear in the back of my mind of seeing my leg go the wrong way again lol

Yep I know exactly what you mean. For me, every step I take when running, I was wondering if it'd tear again. And from what I understand, this is the first time Luck has ever had surgery on anything, so I'm sure he's questioning his own physical shape and toughness. I know I was.

I am leaving some thought........so I do not get my heart broke again by this franchise...( First time was as a young teenager in Super Bowl vs Jets) So I WILL NOT RULE OUT ALL THOUGHTS that his career is in jeopardy If this is really serious they would never tell us anyway.....I do not like surprises...especially bad ones......Go Colts !!!!!!!!

What in the world?

Will Carroll is pretty darn reliable.  Colts want him to throw is an just insane thing of many insane things. The atmosphere in the Colts locker-room must be one of complete and total dismay (vacations are getting scheduled now).

In that thread he explains that comment. Apparently they agree with the most aggressive opinion they've gotten so far, and believe that he may have to work and throw through some pain in order to get back to 100%. I guess the thinking is if he just sits around and waits for his shoulder to stop hurting, he'll basically be back at square one when he starts throwing again.

He was one of the people pushing the Manning/Gruden duo joining the Colts. Everyone was all over the place regarding the Pagano/Grigson decisions.

Not claiming he can't be trusted at all, just saying, he has this reputation of being a strong and reliable outlet, but that doesn't mean he isn't wrong at times.

Darnold IF he comes out.   But that's now on question.     He may go back to school.

And Rosen, who started off great but has faded.

They're both still top-5 talents.   The question would be would they still go 1-2.

The answer is...    I think so...

could be nerve damage from from the surgery, we may have to draft a qb unless they think brissett is our future

The chances this is true are ZERO.

Chances this is false are 100 percent.

Why would you ever think fans know more than the team?     They NEVER, EVER do.

Except you are overlooking the fact we have dealt with this before.

We were told Manning was going to get better, he'll come back he never did as a Colt anyways.

So while we may not know the extent of Luck's injuries we know how the Colts PR department operates about this sort of thing

That's what we know more than the team we aren't as dumb as the Colts FO thinks we are.

Some of us figured this out months ago. The only question is whether he ever plays again.

How did you figure it out months ago without a medical degree and being his surgeon, or rehab therapist?  I think the word you are looking for is speculated. Not figured
