It's really tough knowing had we had any kind of Defense that we could easily be 10-5 instead of 7-8. We couldn't stop the Lions from scoring in 30 seconds and gave up 39 points, we gave up 30 vs Jacks, and the meltdown in Houston up 14 with 3 minutes to go and cant stop Brock leading his team to 2 TD's. We easily could've been 11-5 like Luck's first 3 years assuming we do beat Jacks Sunday. 10-6 at worse like I had us going. I hope we nail the Draft Defensive wise.

What mirror on the wall are you looking at? The team need drastic changes in order to contend.  They(owner) need to  make  changes in the Front Office first, then draft difference makers, play makers on defense and a running back  Then we may go above .500 this time around, but not until they can Pags/Grigs...

Colts rank 10th right now in space for 2017 according to Spotrac.

I think free agency has to be used as a vacancy filler, while the draft should always be board driven, regardless of need.  If the Colts could land a DeCastro or Zeitler at  guard, or Melvin Ingram or Stephon Gilmore, I'd gladly spend the free agent money.

Good Lord, the Patriots are 5th?  Shows what happens when the GM and HC are solid. We just don't have here sadly

The defense only gave up 37 points so all is not lost :)

We really dont, could have easily been 12-4 this year

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if we finish 11-5 next year.  This year was just weird.  Langford doesn't miss a game ever and he misses half the season.  HA is no where near the player he was last year.  The Oline goes through a dozen or so changes and we end up playing three rookies.  The secondary is a merry go round with injuries.  Moncrief misses significant time.  And even with all that, we were this close to being 10-6, maybe even 11-5.

So yes, with a bit more luck with the injuries, and a decent draft and FA season, I think we're contenders next year.  I don't think we need a massive overhaul as many are calling for.  We just need our current roster to get healthy (and stay that way) and pick up a couple LBs.

We have some good young talent from the last couple drafts on defense. It's a start for sure. They all need to take the next step though, which hasn't happened under Pagano for the defense yet. We also need a true pass rusher or two besides Walden, a run stuffing NT, and a true #1 CB as Vontae isn't that anymore. I wish we would trade down in the draft this year and end up with two 2nds and three 3rds to build a defense from those borderline top guys. Grigson seems to hit in rounds 2 and 3, and if we got 3 defensive starters out of 5 picks, we'd be in business.

We have some good young talent but fact remains we have a franchise QB and our HC is talking about our big game with the Jags to finish at 8-8. That's not good.

Nope, the rebuild has been set back for sure. We have to hit in FA and the draft this upcoming year.

Signing Robinson and letting Freeman walk was a huge disaster. We also let Jerry Hughes go for pennies. Grigson also drafted Werner and he didn't last three years with the team. We had some major opportunities to have some solid playmakers on defense and we failed.

I wouldn't call either decision a huge disaster.     Not even a small disaster.

We signed Robinson for 3 years.    Who knows what he does for the next two?

And Freeman still has 3 years left on his deal.    Who knows how that works out?

Neither decision looks good today.     But that doesn't mean they'll always look this bad.    They might.   But it's not clear yet.

There is a lot of doom and gloom out there, but I don't see it at all..I like our young talent..The defense can be fixed this offseason, and the offense is a big time RB away from being special...If we sign a Chandler Jones or Ingram and add another quality CB, and true nose tackle in free agency combined with a good defensive draft our D can be top 10...I like our safetys and D-line rotation...In the draft we need a big time rb in round 1 or 2..Focus rest of the draft on D, get a top line ILB who can cover and stop run to combine with Ejax and Morrison and a few young high ceiling OLB's we are gonna be tough to deal with...I wish we could get an elite Harbaugh or Gruden type coach, but if not, I still think we will be good even with Pagano..Of course injuries could always be the x-factor...

What about a pass rusher?

I think Edwin Jackson has tons of talent, I give Grifson credit for finding him..Morrison is gonna be a great runstop specialist, not bad for a 4th round pick and he's as nasty as they come, every team needs a couple Morrisons.. .

Yeah, I also like Geathers and Anderson.

I know you did I just hope their elite pass rushers.

Should be able to get 1 in free agency we have plenty of cap and 2 in the draft to develop. .Got to get a RB somehow that is holding the offense back bad, and has been for years. .A franchise back would change a lot..

In terms of talent we are near the bottom of the league. Luck by himself cannot even win the division. So no we are not close to contending. The Titans will be contenders before the colts

In terms of coaching talent we are bottom of the NFL..With a good HC next year we are 12-4 with a first round bye..

Idk about close. I'm no particular order the Colts need:

-A true run stuffing NT

-2 OLBs

-2 ILBs (preferably athletic ones who can cover)

-A #2 CB

-A game wrecking 3-4 DE to play opposite Anderson

-A real franchise RB

-A RG

-A true coverage FS

-A RT

Now there are some young guys on the roster who maybe could fill some of those needs like Haeg and Clark at RG and RT but other positions I wouldn't hang my hat on what we have in house like at ILB. Plus we need a new HC. Probably GM too.

I agree we might have the pieces to fill out the OL. The D is a dumpster fire.

I can't remember seeing one side of the ball ignored the way we have ignored our D. Start looking in 2012 we follow Luck with 2 TE's. We selected Werner and Green in the first 2 rounds since Grig's took over.

I hate to pile on but our #1 CB is going to be 29 and in the final year of his deal at the start of next season.

Get the D fixed along with this running game and we'll be good.  If we had the combination of both this year that would have bought us at least 4 of the games we lost.  Don't think the coaches need to be fired. Improve the personnel and we'll be alright.

If Grigaon nails this upcoming draft like he did the previous one the team will be on their way.

It's a little early to say Grigson nailed last year's draft.  I hope he did, but that's far from proven.
