Continue to hear that Colts are likely landing spot for Courtney Upshaw as well. but nothing definitive on that one.

Wouldn't really make sense unless we were to cut Erik Walden after the fact. What is the need for 2 SAMs who both make starter money when neither is a pass rushing threat?

I think you under estimate Upshaw's pass rushing abilities.

May not be another Lawrence Taylor buy  he can rush the QB.

Was very good at Alabama.

Actually, Walden is not really bad as a pass rusher either.

Sad to say, but he has been one of our better players on pass rush.

Upshaw is a line backer. I think it's easy to get too caught up in specific genres of LB (edge, pass rush, etc.)

I would disagree that he is strictly one-dimensional. I believe he could be very productive, especially If he is allowed to move around,

Same things were said last year about Pernell McPhee.  I'm not believing anything until I read something official.  That said, I wouldn't have a problem with bringing in Upshaw, though I don't think he's going to dramatically improve the pass rush.

With the lack of depth at linebacker OVERALL, I don't think he would be a bad addition. He isn't a premiere pass rusher, but he is a well rounded LINEBACKER in general. 

 

Don't overpay for him though grigs.

Well its definitely the most important. You gotta have a good SAM who sets a good edge. But you also HAVE to have a couple big time pass rushers.

It wouldn't be my favorite move, but he had a lot of talent stacked in front of him in Baltimore. Maybe with more playing time he could develop even further. We have to be making moves at OLB because we are getting too thin.
