Wouldn't really make sense unless we were to cut Erik Walden after the fact. What is the need for 2 SAMs who both make starter money when neither is a pass rushing threat?

I think you under estimate Upshaw's pass rushing abilities.

May not be another Lawrence Taylor buy  he can rush the QB.

Was very good at Alabama.

Logical, based on the Baltimore connection. Seems like a signing that people will say, "good signing" until they see the pricetag, then it's all, "I hate you Ryan Grigson, with the fury of 1000 suns!"

The Colts could sign JJ Watt to an $11.00  multi-year contract and people would still say "Grigson overpaid!"

Upshaw is a line backer. I think it's easy to get too caught up in specific genres of LB (edge, pass rush, etc.)

I would disagree that he is strictly one-dimensional. I believe he could be very productive, especially If he is allowed to move around,

Same things were said last year about Pernell McPhee.  I'm not believing anything until I read something official.  That said, I wouldn't have a problem with bringing in Upshaw, though I don't think he's going to dramatically improve the pass rush.

With the lack of depth at linebacker OVERALL, I don't think he would be a bad addition. He isn't a premiere pass rusher, but he is a well rounded LINEBACKER in general.

Don't overpay for him though grigs.

Exactly so stupid to sign another OLB that won't rush the QB worth a damn

The only function of an OLB is to rush the QB?

Submit your app for DC immediately sir.

Well its definitely the most important. You gotta have a good SAM who sets a good edge. But you also HAVE to have a couple big time pass rushers.
