Definitely Henry Anderson. That really got a great reaction out of me. We get some much needed D-Line help and a great player that fits our scheme well. This time we aren't making the same mistake we did with Werner. I like Dorsett as well, but the position made me pick Anderson over him. I have to look at Smith more.

I know I'm going to get lambasted.....but I'm not real hip on any of them. I'm sure they are great young men and they grade out pretty well....but after all the issues we had on the o-line and the implosion we had on the d-line against the Steelers and Pats I really thought we'd go a different direction.

I love all three picks NOW. At first I wasn't a fan picking Dorsett so early with other needs that were more pressing. However, with the picks in the 2nd and 3rd that Dorsett pick is looking better and better as we a filling pressing needs with high quality players later in the draft. I am really liking the way this draft is coming together hopefully Grigs keeps the ball rolling in the right direction. I hope we go after Grady Jarrett, Adrian Amos, or Tre' Jackson tomorrow.

coltsb_logo.gif Indianapolis Colts: Phillip Dorsett, WR, Miami: C+ Grade
How many receivers can you have? With T.Y. Hilton, Andre Johnson and Donte Moncrief on the roster, where will Phillip Dorsett fit in? The Colts should've nabbed an offensive lineman like Jake Fisher or a defensive back like Damarious Randall or Landon Collins. Dorsett is a fine prospect who fits the range, so I'm not exactly hating on this pick, but I just think the Colts should've gone in a different direction.

coltsb_logo.gif Indianapolis Colts: D'Joun Smith, CB, Florida Atlantic: B+ Grade
This makes sense. D'Joun Smith was a third-round prospect, and Indianapolis had to address the secondary, especially at cornerback across from Vontae Davis. This would be an ordinary "B" grade, but I'm bumping this up to a B+ because the Colts moved down and picked up an extra selection.

coltsb_logo.gif Indianapolis Colts: Henry Anderson, DE/DT, Stanford: B Grade
I heard during draft week that Henry Anderson might be pushed into the second round, which I thought was a bit early for him. This is the right range. Anderson fits perfectly into Indianapolis' defense, and he could eventually take over as a starter once the newly acquired Kendall Langford moves on.

Not exactly a stellar endorsement.

Colts didn't pick up and extra pick, they just moved up like 19 spots in the 4th

Not a stellar endorsement? What do you expect all A+++'s? Speaking of, apparently NFL.com gave the Colts and A+, aka stellar endorsement, for day 2.

Mehhh....I tend not to be a drama queen. Expected more (which could have occurred) but it didn't. It is what it is.13a.jpg

So far I am OK with the picks. I didn't get bent out of shape with the Dorsett pick like a lot did. I really like the next two because we got good players that will make this team better. It was real nice to see the Anderson pick because he could have the talent to be a starter. so a grade of two nonsense and an A gives them a B+ grade IMO.

You are entitled to your opinion but in my opinion you are being to unrealistic. Even overlooking the Dorsett pick the next two were spot on IMO. All most of us has to grade these players is someone else's opinion and they can be all over the place. Grigson and staff have a lot more tools, film and direct talk with the coaches who have coached these players. None of them have any character issues as far as we know. That in itself is a good thing. After the smoke has cleared and these players develop with getting mentored by the vets and training by the Colts trainers you might be in for a big surprise.

Thank you for allowing me my opinion...I'm sure if New Zealands #1 Colt Fan had wanted a biased poll he wouldn't have added the last option. I guess we will see how well this draft pans out the end of the season.

Allowing you to have an opinion? Where in my comment was I being sarcastic or argumentative? If your going to have a negative attitude when someone comments to you after posting a statement you have a problem. That is exactly what a forum is. That is what debate is suppose to be. I can just ignore you if you would rather have it that way. I did notice you are kind of new to this forum so I wont take your comment on a personal level as you have already have.

"Where in my comment was I being sarcastic or argumentative?" .......How about your very first sentence?

"You are entitled to your opinion but in my opinion you are being to unrealistic."

Sounds like you're being a tad condescending to me. But if the board is looking for a bunch of lemmings, so be it.

WOW what a great draft!!!! yahoo.

We were the second best team inm the AFC last year. We have signed some great experienced Vets, and we have now picked up some good looking rookies, albeit unproven (like all draft prospects). Andrew Luck is already starting to look elite, and Robert Mathis may come back strong.

Not a lot to bleat about really. And yet.......

Although I forgot to mention New England. How unbeatable they are, and that they have won 15 Super Bowls in the last 3 years.

Get a grip folks. It's great to hear everyone's opinions, but do we really need all this doom and gloom and nasty diatribes against our Back Office?

Geez.

I'm willing to be open minded about the selection of Dorsett. Could be a game breaker type reciever so I like the potential. Should we have gone defensive line? Most people think so.

But I think my favorite pick so far is the Smith kid. I don't follow college football much but from what I hear and read about the kid he's potentially the best CB in this draft and CB is a PREMIUM position. You cant have too many of those types of players.

I love the Henry Anderson pick. He fits our defense well and I think he will provide some nice competition in camp with our guys. I love his non stop attitude and he seems like a great guy off the field as well. We desperately needed a large 3-4 guy on defense and this guy could fit the bill. And when you look at him, 6'6" tall, holy crap.

Dorsett by far. You can never have too many offensive weapons, especially with a top QB. It's a passing league, and you need targets to score a lot of points. I'm very happy with him. Johnson is getting old, TY may ask for the moon and stars when his contract is up, Carter is unproven in the NFL, and Moncreif is still learning. This is a pick to help guarantee we have a good receiving core going down the road.

Anderson, because of 2-gap scheme fit, pass rush potential from 3-4 DE position, and with Redding/RJF gone, has the potential to be a starter opposite Arthur Jones as DE unlike Dorsett or Joseph, IMO.

Awesome we just addressed our OL needs with the second to last pick in the draft LOLA.

I like the DJ Smith pick the most. He looks like he is going to be a solid corner and that is an area of need. I still wish they had taken Malcolm Brown at 1 then moved up to the top of round 2 to take Collins but what can you do......

I'm really pleased with this draft top to bottom; say what you want about ordering your draft based on need, but I think we got a receiver with the potential to be really very good and some defensive players I think can contribute.  I really think we did a great job maximizing talent here.  You never really know, but nonetheless, I think we're going to look back on this draft very positively a few years down the line.

my favorite pick is not in the poll as he was drafted today, but Clayton Geathers safety out of UCF. a lot of people including myself was hoping for Landon Collins, but this kid could become a starter for us if coached right. he is a hard hitter, can play in the box and at top in coverage. and a big plus is he can cover big Tight ends, which will bold well for us when it comes to playing New Engand and having to cover Gronk. we had issues last year tackling him as he would carry out linebackers and corners 10 yards before he fell to the ground. I see a lot of Bob Sanders in him, but Geathers is more durable then what Sanders was.

D'Joun Smith for me. I like Gruden a lot and he called Smith the most complete corner in the draft... He's coming in with a chip on his shoulder and a lot of confidence, gotta love that.

I agree, and maybe  he can take over Toler's spot when Toler's contract is up. he is a little small, but he has good coverage play.

    • Packers fans can tell me about Joe Barry that was their DC from 2021-23. They were always in the Top 12-15 range in terms of points per game as opposed to the Colts.   But the year 2021, the Colts were on par because we ran the ball well and possessed it well. Not so much in 2022, and 2023 was a bit of defensive regression for decent possession of the ball from Bradley’s unit.   Brandon Staley is another name but I’d prefer Jon Barry for his units to generate pressure. Otherwise we’d have to look at college like Packers getting the Boston College HC.   I’m a fan of Jim Leonhard that was a heck of a defensive coach / DC at Wisconsin, and is now a DB coach with Broncos. Dave Merritt, the Chiefs DB coach has done an outstanding job there and was interviewed for DC by 49ers.   My pick would be Jim Leonhard or Dave Merritt.
    • You can’t keep winning only scoring one TD A game. I think they have gotten some what lucky with who they have played. Colds dline beat up so we will see.
    • What I meant is they are not going to come out and just throw 50 times. They are going to try and break your will and run out the clock. It’s  probably going to be a low scoring game. They have only scored 3 offensive TD. I am shocked they str 3-0. They don’t have many offensive weapons. Harris is not really a pass catching back who will break a long run. Now could that change. Off course. But their Oline id beat up. I was reading an article how they tried to open things up and Fields immediately got sacked. He they try to open things up till he revert back to Bears fields.
    • I don’t know enough of the position coaches on other teams to say who is worthy of promotion. Best to keep an eye out on head coaches on the hot seat and their staffs.
    • Sadly also changing my Colts pick.. 😞   Steelers 21 vs Colts 17
