Colts pursuing Murray? [Merge]

Recommended Posts

Here we go again. Grigson is pursuing a 31 year old running back (Gore) when a 27 year old (Demarco Murray)is available. Reports are that Murray

hasn't been contacted by Dallas or anyone else. He's earned $3.8 million in his career so his contract conceivably could be structured in a way that

would not use much cap. Who knows what Gore is going to be asking for and most of it most certainly will be guaranteed. Grigson must go along with

TRich, Werner, Cherilus before he screws up another draft and free agency.

Murray will cost more and he's got an injury history that is well known.  Gore has been durable his whole career and we can draft another young running back.

Gore hasn't missed a game since 2011 and hasn't been under 1000 yards since then either

What if what if what if...we cut Trich at 3.5 mil a year, sign Gore to 4 mil a year and then go get Murray...now that would be a run game to fear...

And yes I know it's complete fantasy

Werner is entering year 3 and is on a rookie contract, Cherilus was hurt. Demarco is not worth top dollar regardless of what some may think. You are grasping at straws, and Grigson absolutely does not need to go.

What are you talking about?

Gore will likely cost around 3.5m with a draft pick spent on running back, wheras Murray is most likely going to cost somewhere in the ballpark of 8m a year.

Gore is the better choice for a stopgap running back to tandem with Bradshaw (If we resign him, which we should) and boom.

WOW when I saw Ehrman,Dutton,Cook and Barnes you brought back some great memories  Bert Jones,Lydell Mitchell, Roger Carr, Glen Doughty, with his great quotes loved that team.I was the only kid from NJ who was a Colt fan and use to go see them at Shea stadium when they came to visit. If we had that D now we would not need Grigson to overpay for overrated D players and trade 1st round picks for bad RB and now Gore

Gore will get paid like a number 2 which he should because he's older, I personally think he still have some left in the tank.  He'll have another back to split carries with too.  I think Murray is to expensive for his age just my opinion.  I also believe if Gore signs, he can persuade Andre to hopefully sign too!

Now that would be an odd twist. RT @DaveFurst: Hearing things are serious between the #Colts and DeMarco Murray...

Murray will be far more expensive that Gore.    And Murray's people have reportedly told teams that if the Cowboys offer is even close,  he wants to go back to Dallas,  or so I've heard.     It appears he'll either go home or go to a team who wants to pay a lot more...

And most of Gore's deal is NOT going to be guaranteed.    Perhaps roughly 50%

I still expect the Colts to use a mid-round pick on a RB in the draft.

Gore's deal is reported as 3 year, 12 Mill,  $7.5 guaranteed.

Murray might be twice that,  possibly more.

WHY did we sign Gore?!?! WHY are we interested in Andre Johnson? We should be signing WIlfork, Murray, Cole would be a solid pick up with Mathias coming back. Gore is old, Johnson is old, neither are superbowl champions or anything. Gore has maybe a year left. Really don't think he's worth %, especially not unless we pay him about nothing. We have a stupid amount of cap space and we were already a playoff team that lost in the AFC championship game. Grigson needs his head pulled out of his butt and then needs fired.

ITT: People who don't understand that free agency doesn't start for another 3 hours, Murray is a trap, and  the idea of high talent, older stopgaps to support a primarily draft based team building philosophy.

do you think we should have gone after Murray?

Despite what some posters may think, being enamored by his numbers last year, Murray is the biggest trap in free agency this year. That is a signing waiting to blow up in someones face.
