Frank Gore interested in joining Colts

At the bottom of the page it says Gore is curious about playing with Andrew Luck.

Should the Colts be interested in him?

If he isn't resigned by SF, and if the Colts opt not to resign Bradshaw or to sign another RB, then I think the Colts should take a shot at him.

Thoughts?

I mean I don't care if the Colts get him or not, but Colts should definitely release Richardson and not resign Bradshaw

That would leave us with Herron, a questionable Ballard, and that's it. I say we draft Tevin Coleman and sign someone like Gore or a different FA RB. Colts should roll next year with 4 rbs.

So the Colts just need to eat the over 3 million in cap money due to Richardson instead of using him as a blocker or to catch passes out of the backfield?

Nope, I think they keep him and do something about the oline. Whether that's scheme change (my choice) or bring in some new beef, I think no RB can do well the way our oline is configured and plays. When the backs get hit behind the line consistently, what is expected? Trich isn't great but you already have to pay him, may as well get your dollars worth from his body and who knows, maybe the line change up allows his play to become better. If nothing else, he blocks and catches well. Use that

Hmmm, odd. Because he's played in 48/48 games the past three seasons, each of them went for over 1000 yards. What are you basing this off of?

Played in and being effective in are two different things. He only had 4 TDs this year. He had 1100 yards this season so that's less than 70 yards per game. Not what you call a running back that's earning his salary of over 6 million a year. Plus he will be 32 years old. Like I said, pass.

That's kinda what I was thinking. But most don't feel that way. I think T Rich would be OK if used say in the same capacity that Addai was used for those who remember him. If we could find a team to take his cap for us that would be OK too.

Agree, if we were to find a suitor to trade, let them take the cap hit and we start over for a tougher runner. Trich has great qualities from all accounts as a great locker room guy and team mate, works hard, blocks above avg and catches out of the backfield above avg. that's a lot of good things you look for, bad thing is he is a RB and he doesn't have good vision and he goes down waaaaaaay to easy for a guy who needs to make the first guy miss and get through the hole. Can't have that trait as a RB.

I am also very interested in joining the Colts...can I have my own thread ? :)

As tempting as it is, we have to say 'no'.

The concern is that you'd just be 'Happy2BeHere', and not put in the work necessary to excel, and help the team.

So, even though you wouldn't take up much cap space, I'm sorry. No.

Gore would be about the same price as Richardson, maybe a little more, and as far as injury issues, what are you guys talking about?  He started all 16 games the last 4 years.  I would go for it, need to focus on defense and the o-line in the draft.

    • Appreciate the response.   A few thoughts to share….   i think Irsay only steps down IF his health deteriorates.  No use in comparing him to Kraft, his health appears to be better even though he’s much older.     But if Irsay stepped aside, here’s why I don’t see the daughters blowing things up and starting over.   If they fire Ballard — fine.  But if they also fire Dodds and Brown, at that point, I think you’d see the rest of the scouting department resign (if they weren’t fired too).  They will all get good jobs elsewhere too.     At that point, Steichen is surrounded by very few who know him.  Worse for the daughters…. There would then be a clear line.   With Irsay vs with the daughters.  And if the new GM doesn’t do well and things go south, then the blame won’t go as much to the new GM as it will to the daughters who decided to blow things up.   They’ll be the focus of incredible hate if the new regime makes fans long for what looks like the good old days of the Ballard years.      The argument for not hiring Dodds or Brown seems to be little more than Ballard-hate.  Those people want nothing more to do with anyone associated with Chris Ballard.   Guilt by association, not because of ability.      Thats why I described hiring one of Dodds or Brown as the easiest, simplest, cleanest move to make.  Much less risk.  But blowing it up and starting over is the far higher risk move.  Threading a tiny needle hoping to get it right.     By the way, if you fire Ballard and company and hire a new GM, who does those interviews?   Honestly, who?   Who would you feel good about conducting the interviews of the new GM?      Firing someone is easy.  Hiring the right person is really hard.    Thanks for your patience.
    • I just want to be on record now. If the Colts fire Ballard for whatever reason in the next few years, I have no clue what direction they will go. Just wanted to get that out there in case any of you were wondering my opinion on this.
    • I understand there are a lot of people that don’t know the story. I for one am burnt out on it. I do find it funny they “stole” the Ravens from Cleveland but whine about the Colts leaving. Sports bring out the best homers and team spirit.
    • Colts by 17. Going to be a rough week for you buddy.    Thats a joke. I have no idea but would probably lean towards the Packers winning if I had to choose. I do think it’s great you may have transitioned to a third franchise QB in a row. I hope Love has a great career for you guys. Always had a soft spot for the Packers and they would probably be my team if I didn’t love the Colts. I enjoy it when you guys are good. Best of luck this year!!
    • Packers have a pretty strong and balanced team. The defense was able to hold the Chiefs to a low score last year while the offense was perhaps the only one to score over 24 points on the Chiefs defense.    But really it’s hard to say as of right now. Let’s see how everyone fares during training camp and after their season openers. Lots of things can change.
