Montcrief Time

I'm thinking from this week going forward , he's going to steal some snaps from Wayne and Nicks. Just too good to keep sitting. My major issue is if he's going to be prone to drops as he cradles a lot of balls. Here's the deal IMO. You either play Montcrief more or plan on Luck running more when teams play man on Reggie and Nicks. The Colts have to get better and as great as RW was and still can be , you can't have two WSR's that struggle to separate in man to man coverage.

I hope this table won't be s...ed up. The official snap count was:

Player *. Snaps Percent

 Joe Reitz G 74 100%

Jack Mewhort G 74 100%

Jonotthan Harrison C 74 100%

Anthony Castonzo T 74 100%

Andrew Luck QB 74 100%

Reggie Wayne WR 69 93%

T.Y. Hilton WR 57 77%

Coby Fleener TE 56 76%

Hugh Thornton G 51 69%

Trent Richardson RB 41 55%

Jack Doyle TE 39 53%

Dan Herron RB 32 43%

Donte Moncrief WR 30 41%

Hakeem Nicks WR 26 35%

A.Q. Shipley C 21 28%

Xavier Nixon T 15 20%

Weslye Saunders TE 5 7%

Andrew Jackson LB 2 3%

Actually Moncrief played more snaps than Nicks.

Moncrief needs to play more.  It seems like he plays a decent amount of snaps one game then 0 the next.  He needs to get a decent amount of snaps every game.  He is big, strong, quick, has good hands and can make plays.

He gets open and makes plays there is no reason for him not to be playing a larger role with Nick and Wayne struggling to get open most plays . We need to trust our rookies and let them play they were drafted for a reason football is a young mans sport .

Agree. Nicks is really not old but he for sure has trouble separating .

I'm hoping to see more of Moncrief as well, but it seems like they are almost trying to keep him as a secret until playoff time. As long as we keep winning I wouldn't be surprised if they kept things under wraps for the most part unless game situation dictates we need him to play more.

I think they "trusted" the rookies enough when they benched Shipley for Harrison smh

It is time for Moncrief to jump Nicks on the depth chart in my opinion. I am not sure if it is injuries or what but Nicks is clearly not the same player he was 3 years ago. The guy is only 26? Not sure what his story is but glad we only have him on a one year deal.

I'm not even sure Nicks played today....   at all.

If he did, I didn't see him.

So,  clearly and without any question,  Moncrief has raced past Nicks to be the 3rd WR in our sets.

Highly doubtful this will be revearsed.    Moncrief has a big future with the Colts,  and Nicks,  it appears,  doesn't.

Why I though this had to happen is this is just so much more than Moncrief > Nicks. When the Colts play Nicks and Wayne in the same formation , it allows defenses to press cover Wayne and Nicks and give the 3rd CB safety help on Hilton. If Nicks nor Wayne fail to get separation , which is often the case , Luck had to..

1) Force the ball into Wayne.

2) Throw to a double covered Hilton

3) Find the TE that's in the game.

He also would have a RB to dump off to . I guess the best option would be that one of the good TE's was a mismatch. I'm not saying that defenses can always perfectly execute what I have above and they can't. Hilton will bust a few and RW is still pretty good. But my point is when you have Moncrief in with Hilton , it puts terrific pressure on defenses . Think we saw this today ?

He is better, not sure what's funny about it. Two coaching staffs have benched shipley this season for a reason

The line was playing far better with Shipley. Harrison has made some big errors and has been inconsistent overall.

Shipley wasn't benched due to poor performance. If I remember correctly, there was a lengthy thread on here full of people mystified as to why he was dropped.

Still only 28 plays which was around 45% of the offensive snaps. Not horrible I guess.

At least he's seeing more snaps then Nicks.

I like Moncrief's potential.  He's got Hilton's speed but he's got more height and weight to him.

This offense is going to be a big threat going deep.
