I’ve been saying since preseason and probably since last season I want a different kicker…he just can’t be relied upon with the game on the line and that is just not going to cut it…points count…even little ones.

I will always be thankful to Gay for his game against the Ravens last year. It's been downhill since then sadly.

 

I have a feeling it's all in his head so we either need to make him see a psychiarist or cut him cos this has been going on for too long now. I have zero faith in him on 50+ yarders right now.

If he isn’t healthy he needs to be out on IR. If he is healthy he should be cut. It almost cost them the game.

As has been explained multiple times by very smart posters,  the Colts are unlikely to cut Gay now.   The problems with the salary cap are way too big.   

 

The off-season is another story.

Until he figures out why he’s missing left on the long FG’s the Colts can’t run conservative plays to settle for a 54 yard attempt.

I am starting to question him but there have been many 50+ field goals missed this year by good kickers...so..well see how things go.

Exactly. If you can't rely on Matt Gay from 50 plus then you are going to be very uncomfortable relying on a rookie (with subpar college record and has never kicked an actual fielgoal in the nfl)... I wouldn't be comfortable with it. So, in essence, there isnt a great solution. Inside 50 is a different story for Gay this season. Something is off on the long kicks. Hopefully it gets worked out and doesn't cost us.

Matt should’ve been kick 2 weeks ago. It’s time and the backup can make them at 50 plus and “extra points”. An absolute joke for people defending him. Hurt or not he was missing

Do we have to "cut" and "re-sign" Gay to demote him to the practice squad?  Or can we swap out our kickers, keeping both on the roster, without having to do that?

They can call up him from the PS for 3 games but that would make gay most likely inactive. This might be the smart move. It lets him rest and we see what we have in the other kicker.

I'm fine with cutting gay and letting the kid kick.   He is super inconsistent.   He might hit a 60 yarder, he may shank a 30 yarder.  I watched him in college. He has a monster leg though

Yeah you watch them this game and see our “Coaches” almost blow leads 2 weeks in a row. The “Fans” with eyes on the message board are wrong though 🤣

So funny to see fans calling for people to be cut.  A nerd calling for an athlete who is in the top 1 percent in the world to be cut.   My goodness.   I hope my boss isn't that strict
