I always called Glow replaceable, and I stand by that. He got a nice contract from the Giants, but his play was pretty ugly in 2022. His spot should not be that hard to fill.

Fingers crossed that they prove me wrong. But French wasn't good in preseason last year, and he wasn't anything to write home about in preseason this year. It's not like he was a dominant college player. He's a guy you bring in, give a shot, and if he does well you celebrate. But if he doesn't do well, you move on, and here we are going into Week 1 with him as our primary backup interior OL.

I disagree that he wasn't good. Now, I admit, I never saw one practice, so I cannot comment on that, but considering he was an undrafted rookie last year, out of a smaller college program I thought he did rather well.  He did beat on a few snaps, during the preseason games, with at least one, I remember, resulting in a sack. But I use NFL+ subscription to rewatch the games. I usually focus on the o-line, since that area has been my biggest concern. And French did rather well at times, in fact, I thought he was one of our better linemen prospects. I was happy when the team didn't cut him last year, and assume they didn't want to risk him being snatched up by another club, so he stuck around on the roster all year. Now, due to Pinter's injury, he is now put in a much more important spot. I don't think he is the primary backup interior lineman, but rather the primary backup center. I know I would probably catch a lot of flack for this statement, but to be honest, at this point, I do not think it would take a very great player to replace Kelly.

Based on your logic for keeping 4 WRs, French should be gone also, because he's not good enough to be on the 53 man roster either. IMO.

I really think the OL is problematic. Don't know who will start at RG, and there's basically no proven, quality depth at any position. I think this is a flat out failure on Ballard's part. I hope that they decided the OL coaching was just so blatantly awful the past couple of seasons, and they're counting on some of the guys playing better this season, and I hope that works out, but I think it's a bad strategy.

I am hard on Ballard, as u  know but depth along the Oline is problematic for every team in  the NFL as reported by personnel in the NFL. That is why money for guards has gone thru the roof lately.

This is a problem across the entire league. There are certainly teams with better OL..and many with worse but there is almost no teams with better depth…across the league it’s the most common concern and issue. The league has a shortage of talent. I also think it’s more to do with the explosion of talent on the DL as well making the OL look less impressive. Ballard hasn’t failed imo…he has actively drafted, spent, and looked to develop the OL as much as any GM imo. Has it been successful…yes and no. Having a mobile qb is a way to offset these deficiencies…I think Ballard recognizes that and it’s part of the equation. I don’t give him a pass but this team has a lot of holes and you can’t just put all your resources into that one position group.

You think there's a jump in DL coming into the league talent wise?

It's more that in College the offenses have gone away from NFL style and you have a bunch of OL getting drafted every year that have never played pro style pass pro.

This has 2012 vibe roster to me honestly. Some long tenured players, a lot of inexperience, and a rookie QB. We're either gonna surprise a lot of people or be absolute dog poop. One thing for sure, it's gonna be some entertaining football.

I think they might be fine if injuries don’t hit. But if they get a lot of injuries it could get ugly.

There was a Reddit rumor about jerry Jeudy. Wonder if that could be a possibility.  Broncos seem to be shopping him last couple of years.

I have to assume he’d want an extension soon too along with MPJ.

But I’d have no problem with two well paid WRs.

I know it's still a work in progress, but looking at this roster from top to bottom, I may be adjusting my hopes of a 5-7 win season to more like 3-5 wins.

I don't know what the plans are at WR right now and I'm also not feeling real good about the defensive secondary.

I don’t understand why they released him in the first place. Especially if they planned to keep him.

Because he is a vet. He doesn’t have to go through waivers. Woods couldn’t go on IR until today. So you release a vet who doesn’t have to go through waivers then resign him when woods goes on IR.

Seems like a lot of jumping through hoops. Maybe that’s what Ballard meant by roster mechanics.

I do to.

I'm with Chris, whatever he said? "It's not all doom and gloom as it's been made out to be."

They season will ultimately come down to how Richardson plays.

Thoughts on depth chart:

Offense:

QB - Gotta be one of the best rooms in the league

RB - between 53 + PS we have 5 guys, no concern on depth there. If Moss can't go we can elevate Funk.

WR - I think we end up carrying 1 more on active roster(Rodgers or Winfree my pref)

TE - Same as QB, got to be one of best rooms. Young but I think good things are ahead

OT - like the Hayes pickup, I think he will be back up LT. Like that we kept Skipper on the PS. Also happy Witt got a free year to improve.

OG - Like the pickup of Sills, Between Sills, Fries and Hambright, hopefully they can hold down the spot. O'Donnell most likely be back on PS.

C - Think Kelly will be fine, not to big a fan of French at back up, but hopefully he isn't needed.

Defense:

DE - Great room, addition Land's speed is intriguing. Titus Leo a free year to improve (already looked pretty good I thought). Nice to have Muhammad experience on PS.

DT - Another nice room Akim back to PS? Nice stash on Sampson.

LB - Think we are fine here. Another great room. Leonard's health will have a big factor.

CB - young going to be exciting watching them grow. pumped for Jones, he has looked great. Also like that we have Lammons for free roster spot for 3 weeks. He played well when he was on the field.

S - another great room. 6 deep between active and PS.

The only spots I don’t like are the inexperience depth on the Oline and the young corners. If the Oline stays healthy the inexperience may not matter. But there is injuries that will probably happen.  I like our starters but depth isn’t great. Hoping to many injuries don’t happen this year. But being able to have vets on the PS does elevate some of that concern.

Do you guys think we carry 4wrs all season? If we do add another who would you be willing to let go?

Think Rogers gets moved up and Mcgrone gets cut then to ps. Not sure when could be after Rogers gets brought up on game day and uses up all his games.

No TE on practice squad. That has to change.

Someone will be cut off the 53.

Also, from what I can tell we never signed Racy McMath to PS like reported.

Had one open space w/on him and just added 2 and dropped one.

At least that McMath adds up.

Roster will be in flux for a few days.
