MJD RB Rankings: Mack at #24

Can't say that I agree that Mack is the 24th best starting RB, when he has Josh Jacobs at #21 without taking a snap yet and Damien Williams at #20.

Tied for 7th in TDs with 9 

6th in Rush Yards/Game with 75.7

2nd in Postseason Rush Yards with 194

This article seems to be written from a FF standpoint...though he doesn't actually say that.

 

I will say...it's easy to forget just how many good RBs there are in the NFL. I don't necessarily agree with some of the guys he has over Mack...then again...I also think he is low on some other guys.

Although Addai is a XLI SB winning RB, MJD was the better of the two IMO.

He was a one man show on some crappy Jacksonville teams, much like

Walter Payton on the Bears team pre 1985 season.

It will be interesting this year. If he stays healthy, he should be top 10 in yards. I'm guessing he'll lose short yardage and late game (when we are up) carries to Ware, which is fine with me. That should help keep him healthy and more productive when he does get the ball. His YPG I'm guessing will be similar, but his YPC should go up.

Rankings are so subjective.....but....24 is too low, by most criteria.

As long as Mack and the O-Line doesn't get the injury bug, we will be okay I think. I really do like Mack so I hope he shows a little more this coming season.

its fair, mack has shown promise but hasnt actually done that much 

 

his yards per game is pretty good, but staying healthy is a big part of being a top running back

well he did get some pay back against the team, he kick our butts on several occasions 

 

ironically he helped us get andrew luck too, if not for one of those occasions we would have missed out!  we should be thanking him if anything

running backs are probably the easiest position to project.  lots of people thought barkely would be a top back and he was that all season long

Like the year he ran all over us.... oh wait, that was the year our guys got a ring.  He was a nice RB, but it couldnt get the Jags out of the cellar.  We owned the division pretty much his whole career.

MJD is a Jags fan, he played for them and he hates the Colts. His ranking of Mack stinks. It just does. Mack is easily top 15/top half of the league, around that.

lots of players hold grudges over the draft, i dont see any problem with that.  

 

convincing yourself you were slighted can be a powerful motivator even when its not really warranted.  i almost wish we had taken him, but then the colts probably would have won that game week 17 2011...

I think I would argue a couple of guys should be behind Mack at this point.

 

Josh Jacobs - Rookie

Fournette - Highly overrated

Ingram - Aging 

Peterson - WAY past his prime.  Typically has one good game at the beginning of the year and makes everyone think "AD is back!" then does poorly the other 15 games.

McCoy - Aging

 

So that would move Mack up to like 19 or so.  So 24 is a little low but not too low.

I'd say that would be impressive, considering Edgerrin James never topped what Marlon Mack did YPC wise last year.

Addai had 4.8 in 2006, which is better than Mack's 4.7, so maybe the wrong comparison :-).

 

Any RB's average will go up typically if you take away the "obvious run" downs.

Addai was great in pass pro, but as an overall RB give me MJD anyday. 

 

Mack is a little low, but overall hes still in the 15-20 range IMO. If healthy he definitely moves up though.

I think it’s a decent ranking.  I can see him anywhere from 15-25. I just don’t trust Mack to stay healthy. I also think if he can’t play more than 12 games this year we should continue the search for a lead back. Mack can be dominate at times and has the ability to be the guy but the jury is still out on availability.

Marlon had a top 10 season last year, he just wasn’t healthy enough.

 

If he stays healthy, I’m confident he can hit 1200

I’ll never complain about where analysts have our players or this team ranked. All we have to do is go out and prove them wrong.
