Celebrate the talent on his own merits. Andrew Luck was literally the last problem of this team and the LAST reason we didn't make a Superbowl. Luck was everything he was promised to be... we just gave him Grigson and Chuck and horrific defenses and OLines and rungame for pretty much the entire duration of his career. It's kind of a miracle that he was able to drag this team even to that level of success. Looking back on it... holy % how bad this team was during those years. We were giving up 60 sacks some years... we were giving up average of 34 points in losses. There was a pediod of FIVE YEARS(no this is not a mistake, FIVE YEARS!!!!) we didn't have a 100 yard rusher. And to supplement the horrible OLine, Pagano decided that it's a good idea to run Air Coryell offense that relies on tons and tons of 7 step drops and long developing routes... because sure... if there is something that a bad oline needs it's to have to protect for as much time as possible.
Was there ANYTHING above average besides Luck on this team for the first 5-6 years? I'm getting angry even thinking about it. What a waste... what a complete and utter waste of a generational talent. Grigson and Pagano should feel shame for the rest of their lives for what they put on the field.
When TY was doubled, JB still tried to force a ton to him, and didn't even look at wide open guys. To the original point, even when he was healthy, it didn't matter much. JB missed guys in the 1st half of the season just as much, it's that simply people weren't posting all-22 captures until the 2nd half. That didn't start until we started losing, and even then the JB defenders sang the "nobody is open" sad song, which was completely false. The problem happened all year, just not when were losing in the 2nd half.
