I like all three pickups from the Waiver wire…..a rookie swing tackle, a bruiser at RG in the run game and a developmental pass rusher!

Who are the three to get cut now?

Woods to IR and return

Olubi/McGrone - one of them

O’Donnell

or Hambright?

Land does have that Robert Mathis ‘look’ to him……not that I’m saying he is Mathis but 75% of Mathis as a situational edge rusher (and Special Teams player) would still be a quality player!

He's way bigger than Mathis. A different body type. I got you though!

Lost Rush to KC. That's really disappointing.

I’m really hoping we find a young CB like him in the next few days to replace Brown.

Happy to see we brought his fellow Alabama alum back on the PS in Harrison who I think is light years ahead of Denbow in base defense at the very least……

Two inches taller but essentially the same weight when Mathis came out. Same kind of twitch…..but part of Mathis’s skill set was how low he could dip around the corner - the two extra inches makes that more difficult.

I think they won't have much problem bulking him up a little bit. He is quick and athletic though.

They drafted Brents too high to get rid of and they thought Baker Jr was better.  We will see what else they have in store

Either way we essentially traded a promising 5th Round CB for a promising 7th Round OT…….the OLine likely needs him more than the DB Room

Was hoping to see if he could develop on the PS with those athletic traits.  Also has an awesome name, but apparently he just didn’t show well throughout OTAs and training camp.  Wondering if we’d be as disappointed if his name were something like Arthur Lipschitz.

Isn't that the Dr from the Rugrats?

    • You usually keep me on my toes!  And make sure that whatever I write doesn't just sound good, but can be backed up with facts.
    • Standings after the all star break:   Brewers 56/42 Cardinals 51/47 Pirates 50/48 Reds 47/52 Cubs 47/53   Reds just can’t finish games.
    • Smith had knee surgery which has been well discussed on here.    Flowers is expected to be ready to go by the start of the season.   Lammons and Pittman were banged up during OTAs but seem fine as of now.   Dulin seems to be without a brace and should be ready for camp.   Scott as we all know is out for the year… sad face…   That’s as much as I know as of this week. I’m sure more will be revealed on the 24th.
    • Ok….  I was with you until the end.  A good thoughtful post.   Turns out McCloud played and played  lit and enjoyed a career year.   Graded in the 80’s.     McClouds 2022 season was even better than I remembered.      An overall grade of 80.  A run defense grade of about 67 which is decent.  A pass coverage grade of 85!   And he did all that while playing nearly 1025 snaps.   And that doesn’t include ST, just pass and run.     So that tells me the Colts played either a 4-2-5 or a 4-1-6 the vast majority of the time and weren’t in a base 4-3 very often.   Likely only on 1st downs.   McCloud is really one of Ballard’s best FA signings in his 8 seasons.
    • Imo just because it didn’t work out in 2022 doesn’t mean it won’t work this year.  I’m all for giving your young players a chance to develop.   But if they are not ready they are not ready.  I’m confident the safety room is going to receive a lot of scrutiny during camp.  I think Scott’s injury added to the concern.  So we will just have to wait and see how it works out.  Regardless I think they will do something if they feel the unit can’t get the job done.
