NFL.com gives Colts Day 2 Draft an A+

....  the Colts got a B- for Day One.    Not over the player,  but for not addressing more pressing needs with the first round pick.

But the writer calls Smith a "favorite of many scouts"  and calls Anderson "a filthy steal"....

Here's your link....    just scroll down to find the Colts write-up....

Awesome. I feel a lot better than I did last night about this time. Even though it'd be nice to have gotten Goldman and Anderson. Imagine that.

That would of been awesome, but if we select Jarrett tomorrow night to go along with Anderson imagine that.

I loved today as a Colts fan.

We got a Great #2 CB in DJ and a steal in Anderson. This was a great day overall. Continue this tomorrow and I'll feel a lot better about Dorsett in the 1st. Going Defense heavy for now on. I say we try hard for Collins or Clemings early tomorrow.

I love the trade back as well. Tomorrow will be very fun with 2 4th round picks, 1 5th, 2 6th, 2 7th.

hmmm....

NFL.com gives us an A+ but obviously Mike Wells from ESPN hates everything we do and downgraded all our picks.

Walterfootball gives a B average

SI gave us a B- for round 1

SuperbowlNation gave us an overall B+

I'd say we are more in the B range overall.

I have nothing but faith in the front office at our Colts and I am happy thus far with the NFL Draft.

Dorsett is another weapon (and from THE U BABY!) and was ultimately the best player available on our board which is why we drafted him. I would have honestly preferred we addressed some needs on the offensive or defensive line first and foremost but what do I know? I am not second guessing the brains trust. I see Luck as a QB that can make ANY WR look much better than he is which is why I believed we could have picked up a WR later in the draft and took a guy like Malcolm Brown (DT - taken by NE).

We have two fourth round picks?

Overall, I feel Dorsett is by far the biggest talent boost we picked up, despite myself being a bit upset that we didn't address our defensive needs while so many ridiculously talented defenders were on the board. There was such a run on defenders in the 2nd round, whatever choices we had narrowed quickly.

Hopefully our day 2 guys can actually start on week 1 and have impact, but who knows. Not a fan of arbitrary grading systems. I'd have to call our efforts so far as rather average, nothing to jump out of my seat about.

Why is Clemmings falling this far?

Why is Clemmings falling this far?

His agent said he has no clue. There is no info into why he's falling like he is.

He was supposedly first round talent. He plays mean too, I love that in Lineman. That trade up with Bucs may be perfect for us.

I'd give it a B. Dorsett was a good player but WR wasn't a immediate need. Gregory or Collins was still on the board at the time.

The Colts like interchangeable safeties now because they want to be able to confuse defenses (confusing QBs is one of the advantages of the 3-4; guys are always moving around).

Collins is more of an in-the-box specialist.  I have a feeling that Geathers will be just as good as Collins.

The real grade will be known 2-3 years from now. Everything is on paper now, nothing more. The same for every team. I'm sure most GM's like their draft and feel confident. But the reality is there will be poor drafts. No one goes in thinking they will pick badly. Time will tell.

Exactly....and everyone gets their panties in a knot when I say I'm not overly impressed with our draft picks and grade it a B. The UDFA's seem pretty impressive though.

That 1st round pick just throws off what should be an A+ draft. BPA or not, when you've got Malcolm Brown, Landon Collins, and Eddie Goldman sitting there at 29, you have to go against the grain. That's when you roll the dice.

Dorsett is a tremendous player, but given the depth at the position on this team, we essentially drafted a KR/PR in the first round.

That pick is like a bad dent on an otherwise perfectly beautiful car. It just sticks out like a sore thumb.

The first round pick is what could make it an A+ draft. If Dorsett becomes like TY or better, I think we have nothing to complain about. You can't draft a HOFer every pick.

If he can eventually become a number 1 or 2, I agree. But even once Andre Johnson retires he'll conceivably still have Moncrief and Hilton in front of him.

But I still think that years from now when we see what the guys we left on the board become, we'll still say he should've went with a different player. WRs are a dime a dozen, especially for a GM whose found good ones in the 3rd round.

I guess only time will tell though.

Don't be too sure that he'll end up behind Montcrief.

Also if Wr's are" a dime a dozen" , the salaries in the league would reflect that. Take a look at the franchise tags for the various positions are before making a statement like that. Also I se 9 of the first 41 picks in this years draft were WR's. In 2014 , there were 5 taken in round 1 and 7 in round 2.  So not too sure GM's are agreeing with that assessment.

Maybe not a dime a dozen, but their worth is highly overvalued by NFL teams. And GM's? You had two of those brainiacs take RB's in the top 15 lol

Speed like Dorsett has is not a dime a dozen, We also go 3 wide quite a bit

Yah that's good and All but look at the other grades. I didn't see anything lower than a C. I think the grades were all way too high for all teams. The median score it seems was a B+.

The graders must be young and are using the current public education grading system. They are concerned about the NFL GMs' self esteem.
