Colts place NT Brandon McKinney on IR

Cut him on the 1st round of cuts.

He's no good here

No, you keep him on IR, and you go through the proper injury settlement procedure. There might also be a possibility that he could come back later. I haven't heard anything about the nature of the injury yet.

We have plenty of depth at NT when you consider that Jean Francois and Hughes can also fill in there... I didn't expect us to keep all three (Franklin, Mckinney, and Chap) true noses anyway... if we need one, maybe MTV isnt shaken up too bad...

That's true. The problem is that we lost all but one of our camp NTs last year, and the Colts have a history of losing defensive tackles to injury. Hopefully having Hughes and RJF helps.

By the way, just to clarify my earlier comment, McKinney is a vested veteran, with 4+ years of accrued service. So we can place him directly on IR without going through waivers. We already have the roster spot cleared up.

I think this will end his NFL career

Yeah they were talking about that on 1070 JMV earlier when they received reports of it from a Ravens insider of all places. Him and Conrad Brunner thought it would be the end as well, think it was him and CB.

Pretty unfortunate for him, would've been nice to see him healthy and able to play.

i like mckinney alot i think he can be a great depth NT the people saying hes dead weight havent given him a chance to recover and show how much of an asset or a liability he can be on this monster d line id love to see him make a comeback after hes given the proper time to heal his knee and show what he can do dont give up on him just yet just like ahmad bradshaw and ben ijalana i see unlimited potential just a little patience is needed an acl tear is not very easy to recover from just give the guy a shot to show what he can do

You know that's a different Hughes, right? We traded Polian's Jerry Hughes to the Bills. We drafted Montori Hughes, which is who I'm talking about.

    • With Downs getting ready to comeback and the colts now seeming to have lots of weapons on the outside does anyone else think we could see a package where they push Michael Pittman inside to play some tight end on passing downs? This doesn’t seem like a huge downgrade in blocking over Granson and would be a definite speed and route running upgrade.
    • The explosive plays is one of the main reasons we didn't "control the TOP". All 4 of our TDs came after explosive plays - 3 on offense(2 huge passes to Pierce, 1 to Dulin), one on ST(or am I misremembering one of them?). That's why TOP doesn't tell the whole story. The biggest problem was that we couldn't stop Houston's run game, which is why they stayed on the field so long,,, they just ran on us all day long.
    • Which I found it confusing on why they want to keep 5 tight ends and they barely get schemed to get open.....should've just kept 3 and used the other 2 roster spots for other depth positions
    • Mixon is good but not having 7 yards a carry great....colts run defense made him look alot better than expected
    • An interesting (can't quite go as far as to say fun watch). Both teams made big plays, both teams made mistakes. Differences seemed to be they pulled out miracle plays, and the run game. We had none, they had more than some.   Getting lots of pressure on the QB is great, not so great if you don't get home, and it's from being too aggressive.
