If I was Ahmad and I had taken the pounding that he has received in his life, knowing what is coming once he quits...I would get every stinkin penny I could get. Period. Location and opportunity plays some part, but he knows that whatever this next contracts guaranteed money is, might possibly be his last.

I have to agree Warhorse.  Earl Campbell comes to mind when I think of a bodie's wear and teat.  It makes me sad looking at on of the best RBs of our time.  :(

We have SOLID DEPTH?????????????????

Donald Brown is a good backup, Williams gives them a receiving dynamic in the backfield and Carter has proved to be a good short yardage bruiser back. Yeah, I'd say they have solid depth.

See that's the crap I'm talking about. Why is Bradshaw stalling? I know a player wants to get himself the best value out of a contract but at this point, he is a "show me" acquisition. I won't overblow his injury history but I surely won't make light of it either.

The free agency period is dead, especially for big bucks signings. He is lucky that we are giving him serious consideration. I for one, Ane one of those who does believe we need another back as I have little to no faith in Brown and even less in Carter so it would erk me if Bradshaw wasn't a Colt after we have reached out to fill a need.

On the other hand, I wasn't expecting that we would attempt to bolster the RB group so I was prepared (reluctantly) to go forward with what we had with hopes that Williams and Havili would get a lot of touches.

In short, I'd be ticked if Bradshaw let this opportunity (likely his best) pass by but I won't cry a river if he did.

SIGN THE FRIGGIN DEAL so that you can be available for the mandatory mini camp.

It his life and his career. There is nothing wrong with him wanting the most $$ he can get. He doesn't owe the Colts or anyone else anything.

I don't support the dude or disagree, I'm just saying your about to jump into cesspool of semantics, what ifs, buts, something about Ballard, and numerous back handed comments.

Hm good point. 5 mind later and wearing noise blockers. I'm ready.

New Era is the official hat and has been since 2012. Google It.

I knew Nike had the jerseys, so I assumed they had the hats too like Reebok...That's good though the NFL is getting smarter, Nike has the best apparel and New Era is by far the best hat....

Ok people....WHAT HAPPENS if Ballard is hurt??  In todays's NFL with the size and power of the players chances are your top RB is gonna get hurt at some point...Are you really ok with Donald Brown??? I mean he is way more injury prone than Bradshaw...I think Brown can be effective as a specialist, 5-10 plays to get him in space, but he isn't a between the tackles runner period...He can be effective in space, but cannot be relied upon to carry the load..I am fine with him being the 3rd back and a change of pace guy this year if we can't trade him...

I hate player's with High levels of Pride.

The ones who can't accept that they're NOT what they use to be yet want to be paid like they are. It's frustrating and its SELFISH. Bradshaw needs to understand he has MAJOR foot problems. You're not gonna get AP, Foster, or other Premier RB money when no one knows how you'll perform coming off an injury.

It's just extremely selfish. You already made millions of dollars which is wayyy more than your Average U.S.citizen or any citizen of any place for that matter. Swallow your pride and take a small contract and then EARN a big contract by PROVING YOURSELF ON THE FIELD WHEN YOUR TIME COMES!!

So you'd be happy if we give him a $15 million contract and we have NO IDEA how he'll perform?

No I wouldn't , I already said I don't wanna overpay, but I'm not gonna hate him for it...If he can get more elsewhere I don't blame him, it's a business and you gotta do whats best for you..If he gets hurt, we won't have any problem cutting him either...

Not easy to cut someone when you have $$ tied into them and it affects our salary cap. If he's asking for more than what he's worth, let's move on and find talent elsewhere. I'm sure there's a CFL or AFL RB who'd be HONORED to play for this organization with a small contract then earn a big one

Yeah..I agree..I think there will be some good running backs and cornerbacks cut for financial reasons during training camp we will be able to get on the cheap...So either way it will work out...I want Bradshaw and think we will get him, but he needs to have an incentive laden contract where he has to earn it, but if someone wants to give him more guaranteed money I'm not mad at him..We def need another back and another corner for insurance reasons..If we do this I will feel much better about this season...Another vet o-lineman for depth wouldn't hurt either..

He didn't say the Colts should give him a blank check he said he's not faulting Bradshaw for holding out for as much money as he can get.  There is a difference.

Free Agency is over, OTA's are over, Mini Camp is rapidly arriving. If he keeps holding out he'll be at home on his couch like Terrell Owens is

Free Agency is never over.

If Bradshaw wants to hold out and ends up not playing football that's up to him.  Some players don't want to play the game for cheap.  That was part of the reason why Marvin retired the way he did.  It was reported he still wanted to play football but not for cheap.  Since these guys literally give there bodies for the game I think what JShipp was saying is that he can understand why they might not want to just do it for cheap and doesn't fault them for it and frankly neither do I.

Bradshaw has a better chance of hitting the lottery than getting a big contract from any team. The guy is only 27 years old and already has had a slew of injuries.....he has to decide if playing for relatively cheap is worth his long term health. I'm guessing he will decide it is, for a couple more years anyway.

Exactly, me either. He needs to take the same contract DHB took and EARN an extension here in Indianapolis. Tired of players getting these big contracts and then not living up to them. It's frustrating imo

I don't know that there's anything to be frustrated about at this point. He hasn't agreed to terms with anyone yet. Why not wait and see what happens?

It took DHB a week to sign after he visited the Colts.

It's just tying to hammer out the best contract for both sides. No big de either way. We sin him or we don't. I think Us NOT signing him is going to make of break us. It could help, but not the end of the world.

Sorry. I watch the Giants. AB spent a lot of time banged up, and wasn't nearly as productive when he was. See game 2 (5 carries for 16 yards, no receptions or TDs), game 9 (15 for 48), game 14 (11 for 33), and game 16 (9 for 39) as examples.

When he's healthy, he's solid. But he's banged up A LOT.

But again, banged up though he may be, and specific games aside, there's the two 1,000-yard seasons which is 2 more than anyone we now have has..

He's bargaining foir the best deal..it may take a week..

Its June........Nobody needs to be signed until after the 4th of July...

The firm of Bradshaw, Ballard and Brown.....its growing on me...

He's a proven player..if he's hurt...we play Brown and Ballard...

What's the problem?

Or until a few teams lose RBs due to injuries or rookies not cutting it in training camp, then he will get the money he is asking for because the free agent RB cabinet is pretty bare.  Bradshaw, Wells, Hillis, then...???  I think the Colts see the same limited choices for a FA RB and are trying to lock one up while we still have the leverage(ie. are not in immediate need), because they are underwhelmed by who we have behind Ballard and/or are worried about injuries.
