I have no idea how true this is, but Dan Graham Tweeted this earlier. He was asked how much DHB was seeking for his contract, If true, DHB is living on a different planet than the rest of us.

@iamSAR 5 - 6 year deal worth about 7-8 mil a year. What I hear. 10-12 up front. #SMH

haha look what being a raider does to your brain.

That man needs a detox from the silver and black. Get his mind straight.

He probably saw what we paid for Walden and thought he could get 7 million from Grigson

Wow!  That is unbelievable for a straight-line fast guy with bad hands who cannot run good routes yet.

I think I saw that his Raiders salary for this year would've been in the range of $7.5 Mill...

He maybe going through serious sticker shock as he finds out what he's real worth is on the open market.

It's possible (and I stress possible and not likely)  that after he visits several teams he'll have a better grasp of reality and maybe he'll be more interested in the Colts in a week or two....

But,  I wouldn't bet on it....

Some dummy will pay him and be sorry later....where is Dan Snyder with his cheque book?

I can see this conversation.

Grigson to Bey's agent - What is your client looking for?

Agent - 5-6 yrs. 7-8 mil per. 10-12 up front!

Grigson - (chuckles for several minutes before finally composing himself) Well sir, I'm afraid we've completely wasted each others time!

Agent - (puzzled look on his face)

Grigson - I'll have somebody show you the door.(sticks out hand for a firm handshake then departs the room).

Actually,  I don't think any dummy will pay him.   There's just not that much money out there anymore...

Someone may pay him more than what the Colts are offering,  but I don't think it will come anywhere near what DHB is hoping for.    I think he's in for a rude awakening...

Cant believe each side wouldnt have a ball park figure from the other side on terms of a potential deal. This would prevent wasting time on a visit.

Sure the agent would try to get another year and a little more per year. A little bit more for a signing bonus, and Grigson would try the opposite with each aspect.

Just to have some fun with all of the forum members I ask you this:

When will DHB sign his contract???

Lets be honest... the guy has not garnered much attention around the league as a free agent. He has been out there long enough for someone to have landed him already but, nobody has tried yet. Word is the Colts and the Jets are the only teams linked to him as of now. I am pretty sure a guy like DHB does not want to play for a team like the Jets with a QB like Sanchez.

So this is how it will go down... the time that I plan on using to determine the winner will be when rotoworld posts the exciting news. Forum member with the closest time to the MINUTE will get my undying praise for about ten seconds.

I'll go first: 3:07PM

Get your answers in ASAP or you just might miss out on all this undying praise I have to give!!!

My guess is that the issue is the amount of years. The Colts have nothing to gain by giving him a vet minimum 1 year deal, because he is young and could thrive in our offense - see Avery. That said, DHB would be smart to take a 1 year deal on a team with an elite QB, because he can produce and elevate his stock, which could get him a nice payday in 2014. When potential is in the air, these types of deals can take a while and be hard for a player to make. My guess is that the Colts want to give him a 3 or 4 year deal based on his performance thus far, and he knows he can get stuck outperforming the contract.

In my opinion, this is why the deal hasn't been signed yet, and if/when it is, I expect to see incentive clauses.

When does he sign?..... Hopefully whenever a different team is willing to pay him. I don't want him here. I feel like there's any number of WR's in round 4 we could take this year who will add as much or more than DHB to this team. He was over-rated from the start.

Please don't flame me for this, But i would prefer T.O here before DHB... Least with T.O you will get a little entertainment with the drop passes, and by all means i hope we never get T.O either

T.O.??????

So basically that writer read the forum, and then just said what everyone else said about the prospects of signing him if he leaves without a deal.

lmao

In my opinion, if Heyward-bey comes into my house....sees what i have to offer in a city, a fan-base, Lucas Oil Stadium, and number 12.....and the underachiever wants to leave MY house.......get the  :censored2: out of my house....and stay in Motor City!  We do not need you! :colts:  :colts:  :colts:

Darrius Heyward-Bey left his visit to Indianapolis without a contract.

The Colts are moving on in their search of a third receiver to play behind Reggie Wayne and T.Y. Hilton. The Indy Star cites free agents Brandon Lloyd and Mohamed Massaquoi as options, but they may be better off just looking to the draft or developing LaVon Brazill. Heyward-Bey is meeting with the Lions Wednesday.

Sadness! He could have been a great asset if he embraced a new city and staff with us. On to the next one!

I guess this game was a failure... and since I was the one who made it... I guess I win! So I guess it's not all bad...

    • Yeah it’s the going three and out that’s the issue.  That has nothing to do with the defense.  That’s all on the offense.  If the offense could sustain a drive you’d also rest the defense so they aren’t spent by the 4th quarter as they clearly were in the Texans game too.

    • A primary reason Why he needed to be more active in free agency. He has done well throughout his drafts to add contributing NFL roster caliber players, however, there is a mounting lack of true difference makers  on the defensive roster. His stubbornness with overvaluing his own draft picks is getting very old- especially on defense -to your point. I also realize some of these players are being held back by Bradley's simple and tired defense.
