Confused. What's the whole point of releasing them if they are set to become FA's anyway?
“There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man ... a
dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the
middle ground between light and shadow, between science and
superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit
of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination.” - Rod Sterling

Freeney was not "released" since hes set to be a FA. They just pretty much told him they aren't going to resign him. Collie on the other hand was released.

Freeney must indeed be the square peg....Austin is just a true shame for such a talented guy decimated by injuries. Two of my favorite Colts of all time.....a sad day for the old linebacker!!!

They were just told they are not going to be re-signed.

Sad news, but neither guy surprises me. They were both fun and exciting to watch! As a former DE, Freeney was an idol of mine in high school... Thank you both from the bottom of my heart!
WELCOME HOME CHUCK!!!
Sky's the limit! #COLTSTRONG
Will shave my neck beard when Luck and the Colts win a playoff game.

Exactly....still sad....if confirmed......why is it news..why tweet it?

Collie was signed to a 4 yr. contract in 2009, so he is a FA too. So, both of them were bid adieu without re-signing.

it's a courtesy so they can start looking for a new gig before free agency begins
Go to heaven for the climate, Go to he (double hockey-sticks) for the company.

technically they are not free agents until march 12th when free agency starts. so they were still on the team and therefor released.

saw freeney play in high school since hes from ct.---one of my favorites---had great career---good luck dwight
Posted 15 February 2013 - 04:59 PM
It was just confirmed on the NFL Network

Right call on both players......Freeney was a great player, but at his age and given the current defensive system isn't worth what he's gonna want to be paid.
Hopefully he can go someplace else and have a nice end to his career.

Best of Luck to both. It sure will be weird to not see ol' 93 chasing the QB.

I think we shall say a big "Thank You!" for both guys.
Freeney doesn't fit the new system, and Collie...I think he shall retire.
Good luck boys! It was a honor rooting for you!

I feel that guys like Bob Sanders and Austin who contributed so much...only to have careers shortened deserve the love too.....
Poor old Steve Emtman would have been a beast too....not sure on Trev Alberts...![]()

man im gonna miss those 2 guys

May have come LAST year if the dead hit was not enormous....still sick.....loved 93.....
Wound up not being about the money. I thought it was all offseason, but I was wrong. The dead cap hit would have been $5m. We carried him for $19m. I still think it was a mistake.

as much as it is best for both sides, it still pains me to see Dwight Freeney go...man it hurts but i wish him the best and hopes he succeeds anywhere he goes

OK: Today is a new day. I went to a blood draw yesterday on a fasting blood draw. I did what I was told as usual and they could not draw blood. I drank 3 cups of water, sat 30 minutes...still no blood? I found out a couple of weeks ago I was heartless...now bloodless? I guess we have proven what we have known all along!! :)
