Trade Gus for Salah.

I’d really like saleh..  I don’t think the Colts will get him but the last time I thought a coach would be this perfect of a fit for the team was Dungy.  Maybe I am over valuing what he did with a loaded San Fran defense but I think he’d be perfect here.

The Eagles released former all pro linebacker Devin White today.  They reached a deal to release him before the trade deadline.  He saved them some money I read.  He’s only 26.  Considering the up and down play of our linebackers and especially their tackling he might be a guy to bring in.

The question is what position would you target if you were going to trade for a player?  Corner, linebacker, running back?  A starter or a depth player?  I would like a starting linebacker and a depth corner.  Letting Okeroke go was a mistake imo.  If we win the next two games I could see us making some calls.

I was coming here to say the same thing. Hiring Saleh would instantly upgrade this D. Question is, can they do it mid season?

For the record, we didn’t let Okeroke go, he took less money than we offered . Crazy but it is true

Saleh mod season as DC... couldn't be much worse than what we have in Bradley... he isn't going to change and as I said in another after the game ... he had HOF defensive in the Legion of Boom we are No Where close to that talent... his system IMO will not work here... we will always make avg QB's look like stars... & Ballard is going to change his philosophy either... needs to go too ... I don't think they will have the guts or do anything, but I am all for brining in Saleh and dumping Bradley... just don't seeing it happening

They will go with Bradley the rest of the year. It’s too disruptive to do otherwise, despite Bradley’s obvious deficiencies. Bringing in a new coach like Saleh with a totally different defensive philosophy requiring different types of players isn’t the smart move either.
But maybe, just maybe, the GM, Head Coach and perhaps the Owner will insist on Gus making some changes going forward. More aggressive blitzing; some press packages for the corners; switching up the look in the secondary. That’s not an unreasonable approach and might help turn around the D.

I believe it’s November 5th by 4pm. Do you think the Colts will make a move/trade to improve the roster? Personally I do not. What say you?

I could see them trading away a piece or pieces , I don’t see them trading for anyone.

He took less money to leave?  Are you sure?  He was a starter.  That makes zero sense.  Did he hate Indy?  Did he hate his Teammates?  That’s crazy.

That’s what was reported at that time. He became a Team Leader on the Giants that year, and they made the playoffs.  Glowinsky also left for the Giants that year.

The Colts should be sellers more than buyers this year. There isn’t a player available who will change this defense. It needs 4-5 new players

I don’t think it’s as bad as 4-5 new players.  I think getting healthy and a couple of good players would make a big difference.

He’s trash. If you combine the negatives of EJ and Franklin you get Devin White. Only reason he looked good in Tampa for 1 year is because Lavontae David always cleaned up his mess

He signed for 4 years 40m with 22m guaranteed.  The Colts offered more than that?  I would bet they didn’t.  They were still paying Leonard I believe.  Franklin too.

Maybe.  But considering how poor our linebackers are playing I wouldn’t be afraid to bring him in for a workout.  Can’t hurt.  Might be a wake up call for Speed and Franklin.

I don’t believe that is accurate. The Colts gave Leonard a big contract there wasn’t any left for Okereke.  Now the offered Hunter and Moss more money than they took last offseason.

I never really thought Franklin and speed were starter quality linebackers.

They’re mediocre. Franklin is starter quality just not the pro bowl level player many Colts fans think. I thought the rookie played well last game. Tough to notice in the middle of that ****show on defense.

Health always helps!  I agree there are decent players across the defense. However, if it were me deciding who was the core it would be Buckner, Latu, Stewart, Moore and Cross. Paye, Blackmon and Dayo as possible bridge starters during the transition and both outside corners and honestly both linebackers need upgraded.  Everyone else are JAGS. Moore, Buckner and Stewart probably only have 2-3 more years left of high end play so it’s sad to see their talent being overshadowed by such terrible circumstances.

I don’t think he’s coming in mid-season.  It would have to be an off-season one and it’s not going to be an easy thing to do, he’s going to be able to pick where he goes.  So if the Colts want him they are going to need a good sales job like Irsay did on Dungy.

Where are you seeing the Colts offered him more than 4 years 40 million?

I have to disagree I think white is far more accomplished in pass coverage.

For those that Ballard won’t change the types of players on defense. I disagree, we have seen with coach changes that Ballard changes the type of players too. We saw it at WR when we changed from Reich to Steichen and this year we saw it at the DE position when we drafted Liatu. When we get a new DC, Ballard change to what he likes on player prototypes

    • Defense has a chance to get a little healthier this week. Smith adding a ankle though is not good.
    • If the defense had showed up this team could be 5-0
    • Yeah, but Darnold was meant to be a bridge QB. He has 66 games on 3 other teams of average to bad QB play though.   If we aren't judging AR on 9 games...we probably shouldn't judge Darnold on 5 games on a very good team. He's not the future in MIN either.   And it's not like the Colts have the luxury to wait until AR in his 7th season.    If anything, guys like Darnold an Mayfield support the approach they were taking with Wentz, which is an approach that nearly all Colts fans have since disparaged (including myself).
    • Since you are clearly directing this at me...   It's been 5 games. He's played great, but criticism of AP was valid. None of his critics said he wasn't a viable deep threat...because we have seen him have games like this before in his career. He's always had the ability to get behind the defense at times.   But let's see where he is at season's end before we start acting like this is some sustainable thing or he's this stud WR. I hope it does, but even JAC managed to shut down the deep ball until they just decided not to cover (Colts pass catchers or the spread) at the end of that game.   Saying AP has played well is sort of the same thing as saying AR has struggled. It's just an observation of a small sample of games. We shouldn't be jumping to conclusions based off of it. But we do have our hunches. All of it will play out. And until he shows improvement, criticism is valid.    But we are comparing apples to oranges. AR is meant to be a franchise QB, who was taken in the top 5. AP is a R2 WR (probably the WR3 on this team). There are vastly different standards for each player. And right now, AR has not been playing well. Not to mention he gets hurt all the time. Nobody was questioning AP's health either.
    • We need him to be the reason why we win consistently and can make the playoffs and a playoff run.   I get that hes young and needs more time, hes so raw he probably should have stayed in school longer.     It will feel amazing if he can do do what he does for 17+ games in one season
