I really wish I had an opinion on this.

I'm kind of on the fence with this too. Was our poor offensive line play because of lack of talent or injuries?  Or because Philbin wasn't as good as advertised?

Could be a combination of all?

Exactly.

Do we blame him or the guys? I honestly wouldn't even know if it was a loss to us if he leaves honestly. Wiki says he's been an oline coach since the 80's, he couldn't have made it this long without being somewhat of an asset.

Totally guessing, but I think Ballard is going to finally wipe the slate clean his way like all GM's do when they come on. His situation was different with Pagano and Co. staying during his (Ballard's) rookie season.

I think he will allow the HC to make decisions on all his assistants on his team. Why handicap a coach coming in by forcing them to work with guys they aren't familiar or don't trust. I'm actually sure that is part of the interviewing process to see who you would bring in at key positions....I would assume not one member like you said will be here with maybe the exception of QB coach depending on how Luck feels about them and perhaps strength and conditioning/doctors etc.

CYA.... I was hopeful with his hiring as our OL coach that our OL would improve..... but it hasn't, even with the injuries, i feel like development just hasnt been there

Not making excuses for the man, however, there is more to "poor" oline play than just the lineman or the coach that coaches them.

Things like ling developing plays downfield - which our playbook consists of.....

Or a QB in Luck that will hold the ball as long as possible to hit one of those long developing plays.....

Or a QB in Brissett that held the ball a LONG time due to not knowing the playbook AND not having the vision to throw a receiver open.....

Or a virtually non existent running game - because we telegraphed our running plays and were limited by Gore's lack of burst....

Everything works in unison and the fact that neither our HC nor our OC adjusted the offensive play calling handicapped our offensive line.

Just my $.02...

    • Yeah it’s the going three and out that’s the issue.  That has nothing to do with the defense.  That’s all on the offense.  If the offense could sustain a drive you’d also rest the defense so they aren’t spent by the 4th quarter as they clearly were in the Texans game too.

    • A primary reason Why he needed to be more active in free agency. He has done well throughout his drafts to add contributing NFL roster caliber players, however, there is a mounting lack of true difference makers  on the defensive roster. His stubbornness with overvaluing his own draft picks is getting very old- especially on defense -to your point. I also realize some of these players are being held back by Bradley's simple and tired defense.
