Colts NOT interested in Demarco Murray.

Currently.

This doesn't mean we're not interested, rather not inquiring at this moment. We still could show Interest tomorrow, just like we didn't show interest in Fairley, Knighton, Smith yesterday.

Mm.. No that's not the same.

It's mind boggling for those who don't want one of the top RB's. Guess fans here like the Colts to finish last in Rushing on yearly basis. Keep dreaming about getting Melvin in the draft. So we have Boom or bust, injury riddled Ballard and half-season Bradshaw. Sure, those 3 are way superior to Murray.

This is nothing to do with him not being wanted. It's everything to do with the price tag he is asking. On the open market, after last season, where he put up incredible numbers (by carrying the ball more than anyone else with no regard for his long term health and also behind the best offensive line in the league, no less) he is going to get paid, and big time. I just don't want to see the Colts sign him for that much money. The risk is just too high for what seems to be little reward.

Yes, he's talented, but he's still just a "good" back. He's nothing too special. Throw any decent back behind that line and they will look awesome. That's how lines work. Speaking of that, we should invest in one of those...

Grigson not falling for huge salary price tags, thank goodness. FA at the beginning is the worst, because you know the ones who are on the A and B list, with 16 teams having cap space, the price is going to be outrageous. Suh as evidence. RB you do not over pay for!

Now we are going to have to overpay for a couple if we get certain pieces, and I am OK with that, just save the RB money, draft one, and use is on pieces we need, and have an impact.

Yeah, I forgot about Murray leading the league in rushing all those years before Dallas had the best Oline in the league. The NFL is not kind to RBs who come off 400 plus touches....especially one with an injury history and fumble problems.

So resigning Ballard/Bradshaw who are injury prone and Fumbles Boom makes more sense?

So who is your ideal back to run behind our ever changing Oline?

So who is your ideal back to run behind our ever changing Oline?

You seem to be mistaken about a few things with your FA thinking

1) This is the modern NFL. Running Backs are a dime a dozen and you don't need a great one unless your QB is utter shyte. Since Andrew Luck doesn't quite fall in to that category, the Colts will easily do well with a good enough RB, and some OL upgrades. (Which they have already done at least some of with the signing of Herremans).

2) DeMarcco Murray is the very definition of a trap FA.

-Performed abnormally well in a contract year: Check

-Had great talent around him boosting performance: Check

-History of injury and general wear and tear: Big Check

-Turnover problems: Check

But he led the league in rushing last year, and will leverage that for a big payday, he honestly doesn't deserve. Especially considering...

3) This is one of the deepest RB drafts in quite awhile. Good RB's are everywhere in this draft, and it's one of the easier positions to prognosticate in the college to pro transition.

So, essentially what you are fuming over, is the idea that the Colts won't overpay for minimal impact position that can more easily be addressed with a mid-level free agent, or even better, the draft. It's rather silly when you break it down.

No, he's not. Besides Spiller, Bush, options are running out. There's always our fan favorite TR in the backfield again.

Keep Boom and Tipton, sign Steven Ridley, and draft one in mid to late rounds.....problem solved

Not fuming, just wondering as we are that satisfied to have a lousy running game every year? Last good back here was Addai. Sure we don't need a good running back to help balance our attack. It's too much to ask for a back that can actually gain 100 yards a few games in a season. Our backs get 50 yards, and it's time to pop the bubbly.

Those polian disciples love their running backs lol

Gotta spend those cap dollah dollahs somewhere with the cap minimum.

It helps to set up play action, and actually score at times in the red zone. Let's not have any backs at all. Just go 5 spread wide outs instead.

The above two things rely very little on the running back, and more the power of the offensive line and the ability of the passing game to be a threat. The RB in question just has to hold on to the ball and hit the hole quicker than it closes. You also exaggerate how bad it's been. The Colts, while in the lower half of the league, still managed to average a smidge over 100 yds/game rushing in 2014, just 8 yds/game less than the Patriots.

The plan is clearly (and probably intelligently), draft a RB, see what Ballard (remember that guy?) has in the tank, and have them both compete with Boom, Tipton, and either Bradshaw or some other vet for the final roster slots. Free Agency money appears to be highly allocated to defense this year anyways, with all the d linemen the Colts are purportedly pursuing.

    • Has anyone who has been paying attention to Latu or to Gus Bradley learned if Latu will play the LEFT defensive end or the LEO, the RIGHT defensive end?      Has that been confirmed by anyone?!?      Asking for a few thousand friends here…..   Thanks in advance….
    • Chad Kelly’s only real impact for the Colts was the pre-season, something Sam has been better at since he’s been here.  Even then we saw how over whelmed Sam looked playing in a real game.  The logically conclusion is Kelly would have too.  Don’t fall for the pre-season trap.  The jump from back up to third string pre-season QB to NFL starter in a regular season game is the size of the Grand Canyon.  Let’s not forget Curtis Painter once looked good enough in the pre-season that some fans actually thought he could be developed into Peyton’s replacement and we all saw how that played out.     Rather anyone likes Kelly or not is irrelevant to the fact he’s had a tone of tape out there for NFL teams to see.  We know NFL teams will give just about anyone they think can be a franchise QB a chance to at least look at him.  The fact no NFL teams have come calling for even a tryout since the Colts released him tells you what teams think of him.     Fans can like him all they want that and $20 will get you a “value meal” at McDonalds.  He’s not some superstar who never got his chance, he’s a pre-season darling who isn’t good enough for regular season football.  Those are a dime a dozen in the NFL.  It’s not that people don’t like or aren’t a fan, in fact I’d argue he’d be a major underdog that most people would cheer for, it’s they have seen this before and recognize it for what it is.
    • He runs faster than I can watch!!!!!!!
    • Yeah, we both have a chance now. I'd love our teams to face in the NBA finals. Would be a lot of fun. Hopefully we keep winning.
    • I don't think we will have 3 QB's on the active roster. The 3rd QB will be on the PS and not impossible that both Sean and Slovis are both kept as you suggest . I just doubt either will be on the 53 man roster . Especially considering that it would be unlikely that the Colts would lose their choice for QB 3 to the waiver process.
