Luckily Peyton Has that Quick Release or who knows

Yep, they always kept saying CJ was just an average LT, I thought he was better than that. Now I know how much Peyton's release made a lot of O-linemen at their positions look better.

they're not going to take away the SB nor will they give it to the Colts. . c'mon they were the better team that day

I have to agree it wont be taken away & Even if taken away would be no winner, this happened in college I believe

But if it was , ( as I noted elsewhere )

it would at least telegraph that sports Must Have Sportsmanship

Think was Rick Demuling we lo\st to free agency , believe a guard , went to lions, later released

Anyway the point is after being released he said the only reason the Lions thought he was that good was because peyton made all on the line seem much better than they really were

Breaking News: Colts Ex-Head Coach Jim Caldwell not paid to under perform or be a terrible coach during his tenure with Indianapolis! This was his normal "MO" after days of investigation.

No but seriously...this is wrong for sure! All I can say is JEFF FISHER is probably hating life also right now...given the story I would imagine some of those players on the Rams are going to have a hard time "admiring" their defensive coach. That's certainly another brick to lay for Fisher....

I hope Williams and the Saints get decked hardcore....HARD HARD HARD!

I understand why they did it so that their defense would play hard, but to hurt players intentionally, and you already get paid enough as it is. I can understand colleges doing this sort of thing like Miami when they did it in the 80s but the NFL and they already get paid. This is sad and I hope the NFL brings the hammer down

IMO They should:

  • Suspend Greg Williams for the season.
  • Fine him upwards of $500,000
  • Make the Saints forfeit this years second and next years first round draft choices.
  • Fine the Saints a significant amount as well. ($250,000- $300,000)

  • Suspend Greg Williams for a significant part of the season (if not all of it)

Sean Payton and Loomis have to take hits in this too.

Individual fines for all.

Williams is already gone in New Orleans, so suspending him hurts the Rams more than the Saints, just kick Williams out of the NFL because this couldn't have been his first time.

Also the '09 Super Bowl title should be given to the runner ups.

I would say that IF they had in fact hurt Manning then yes, we should take to the streets in full riot formation demanding they relinquish the 09 Lombardi trophy.

I'd be willing to bet they attacked Freeney's ankle the entire game.

Wow, this story is exploding. Now former Redskins are saying they had the same bounty system when Greg Williams was coaching there as well.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/football-insider/post/new-orleans-saints-had-bounty-system-that-paid-for-injuring-opponents-nfl-announces/2012/03/02/gIQAPNDDnR_blog.html?tid=sm_twitter_washingtonpost

This is where Peyton's neck injury is assumed to have started. This story could develop VERY quickly, and in a VERY large way. Look for Williams to resign soon. And look for the Colts to be compensated with some kind of draft pics from the Redskins; if not this year, definitely next year.

I would think that the fines are going to be higher than that. BB got a $500,000 fine for spygate, this is worse IMO. The GM and coach will also get hit with larger fines.

That tickes me off even more now that the hit Peyton took from Washington may have been a bounty placed by Greg Williams. I mean playing hard and to the whistle and getting a good clean hit on someone is fine. But intentionally trying, and getting paid, for taking out players......

Isn't that also some kind of an infringement on the Salary Cap? Paying people undocumented moneys on game day performance (unnecessarily rough hits).

They need to compile a list of players that got injured, figure what their various salaries were for the games they had missed (Players still got their money but the respective franchises had to pay them to sit), and then fine Williams that amount.

Can't tell if you're being serious or not about the draft picks going to the Colts...but when the Saints are forced to forfeit draft picks as a result for this, they won't just go to another team...

Got to agree, I think Goodell will just make the Saints forfeit the picks. It would be interesting to see if the Redskins paid a bounty for that particular hit.

The Saints will forfeit picks, for certain. But with the highest-profile player in the league taking not only obvous cheap shots in that game, but hits that are widely assumed to have originally caused his injury, I think there will be even more pressure that at least one draft pick goes from the Redskins to the Colts because of the "high profile" situation. No, I'm not joking.

This will never, ever happen.

Sorry.

The Vikings would have to be given picks, as would the Cardinals.

No way will the league open up that can of worms.

I don't see this happening. I wouldn't mind seeing it happen, but thats because I'm a Colts fan.

It will never happen...then any team that ever had a player injured playing against a team that had him on his staff will come forward and demand draft picks...the NFL will handle it, punish him and take draft picks, and that will be the end of it.

    • I had Goncalves in my mock, in the 4th round. Basically in range. I like the pick, I assume his foot is fine, he said as much, and he worked out at his pro day. Big dude, nice feet, good technique in pass pro, can get stronger to improve in the run game, technically sound for the most part.    I wanted two things on offense this offseason: 1) A dynamic pass catcher, and 2) Depth/competition on the OL, specifically a swing tackle/guard. I was hoping for a veteran OL in addition to a draft pick, but we re-signed Pinter, so I guess we can count that. And as a bonus, Drew Ogletree is back on the roster, after I thought he was for sure going to be gone.   IMO, the offense is ready to roll. I was worried that Plan A at WR -- get a guy in the second round -- was shot after the way Thursday night went. Plan A wound up working out nicely.   The secondary could still use some work. I would have liked to see an athletic boost with a boundary corner, but this wasn't really the draft for that. And while I'm not sure what will happen after the draft, there are a ton of veteran corners and safeties still available. Including Justin Simmons and Quandre Diggs, whom everyone wanted on Day 1 on free agency. So maybe we still add some veteran help.   We also have one 4th round pick, and then three 5th rounders all bunched up from #142 to #155. Ballard already traded out of the 6th, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him either trade out of the 7th, or trade down in a swap that also moves him up higher from one of the 4th/5th round picks. He might want to keep a pick in the 7th just to grab their favorite UDFA target...
    • I read a comparison of George Pickens, think it was on NFL.com
    • I love what Ballard had done. However, it's not going to be that easy . This guy has all the talent to be legit. He has been to two teams and the same theme keeps reoccurring. He was most likely supported by nutritionists in his last two stops in college. For some reason, he failed to do, what seemed to be  a simple task, to take care of his health. He appeared to continue to bomb the interview process. All world talent inside a very immature body. Here is hoping that he can become what the Colts drafted him to be.
    • Really? I haven't seen those comparisons, and if that is happening, I do not agree with them at all. Especially Campbell, who was a clear slot guy right from the start, whereas Mitchell is a a clear X with the potential to be a number 1 receiver as an X.
