Value could be higher or missed opportunity depending on how well or bad he plays. Always at risk of injuring that sensitive ankle. Be something he decides to hold out this season.

So where does that leave everyone?

I think a fair scenario to project would be Indianapolis getting a second-round pick, plus a Day 3 pick (and a relatively high one) for Taylor, with Taylor landing a contract somewhere between $13 and $14 million per year, and about $40 million over the first three years. What’s trickier is finding a team willing to do it. Indy’s looking for a fair price for Taylor and, obviously, hasn’t found one they like yet.

That is strange how agents would blast him. He has had a great track record of re-signing his own players to huge contracts. Just recently see Leonard and Nelson. Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison as well. He paid Peyton for not even playing in 2011, he paid Luck in 2019 after he retired. 1st time he doesn't (Taylor) he gets blasted, That is pretty weak.

They weren’t blasting Irsay in general…just for inserting himself very publicly into a contract dispute.

 

Ballard would never, ever admit it publicly - and probably not even privately (at least while he’s still with the Colts).  But I’d be willing to bet my house that he secretly wished that Irsay would’ve stayed out of it, too.

 

His comments may or may not have hurt the situation.  But they clearly didn’t help.  And, again, I say that as a fan.

No, I don't. I think Ballard would tell agents that he's not interested at a particular price, and move on. He has his beliefs and opinions about how to manage a roster, and hasn't hid them at all. I don't think he'd try to hide behind the idea that an owner is tying his hands.

 Irsay definitely used bad lingo regarding being remembered.

For the Colts, we needed to deal ourselves into the game to draft a QB, and we didn't. Then we continued patchworking the position for two more years. And to some extent, the reason we've had drama every year is because we haven't had a QB.
