Yeah because all 22 yos remember the rookie symposium a year later while out partying. It's definitely his fault for his decisions, but the punishment is going to far outweigh the crime.

smittywerb
I'm not an advocate of beating women but I'm an advocate of self-defense and letting someone know you're not to be played with. If you do not know the ENTIRE story, please leave your opinions checked. Reports were/are saying the woman called him the N-word, instigated the entire thing, and hit him with a lamp. A slap is ok with me, even a shove, but hit me with something that could injure me and yes, I will respond. It's a reason why the police claimed it was self-defense.
2006Coltsbestever
There are reports she hit him with a lamp while in his room. What he should've done at that point was get her out of his room (get the lamp out of her hands), just grab her and force her out and get the door shut. Stay in the room and call Hotel Security at that point. I know in the heat of the moment that is tougher said than done but in hindsight that would've been the right move. Security and Police could've handled it from there. My guess is, Hunt was drinking so his judgement wasn't that good. He was upset so the fight continued outside the room. Although the kick didn't look hard, it is still a terrible look as well. 2

It seems that what most of the commenters here are calling "self-defense" is more "retaliation". They seem to be saying that because she hit him at some point, he has the right to hit her. That is not self-defense. The video does not show self-defense on either of their parts. Self-defense is an action taken to prevent harm to oneself. The video does not show an individual hitting someone because he reasonably believes that he needs to protect himself. Note: I believe they are both wrong. She goes after him after he hits her and walks away. She should have left. 1

crazycolt1
What's hard to understand? Once she was out of his room she was no longer a danger to him. What he did outside the room was against the law no matter what happened inside. Had there been any serious injuries the cops more than likely would have made an arrest. He must have felt he did do something wrong because he lied about it, thus costing him his job with the Chiefs. No doubt he will continue his career when his penalties are complete. Let's hope he learns his lesson and not put himself in a bad situation again. He is talented enough that some team will sign him no question. I have no clue on who that team may be.

ColtsGermany
I'm shocked about how many guys in here would beat women and defend Hunt.... I mean, what's wrong with you? Even IF she slapped him first.... A SLAP... Wow... Its not like she hit him with a baseball bat and it was health threatening. He could have gone back in his room and call the police.... But no.... That dumb *** pushes her against the wall and kicks her as she is defenseless. I don't know how anybody can defend this behavior. If i would write what i think about you guys that defend Hunt, i would be banned on this forum.

The self defense is in reference to what transpired before. The biggest debate here is calling out people who act like he put her in a coma, when the reality is far from it. Ya he pushed her over, but it's not like it was a Janikowski 60 yard attempt. Knee jerk reactions of shoving, stupid ya but not a ray rice knockout combo. Shive
To those saying they should have called the police to handle it, they most like didn't because of the same reason they kicked her out of the room. They found out she was only 19. They were probably worried that if they called the police, they would get in trouble for her drinking, which is a legitimate concern for someone of their age and in the situation they were in.
