The Lions added a cornerback to their banged up secondary on Wednesday.

The team announced that they have claimed Lenzy Pipkins off of waivers from the Colts.

...Pipkins was traded from the Packers to the Colts just before the start of the regular season. He started last Thursday’s game against the Patriots and made nine tackles in what turned out to be his only appearance with the team...

oh well,  I'm sure that surplus of DB's the Colts have will be able to replace him.....  ;)

How many penalties did he have the other night? Seven? Eight?

One, an unnecessary roughness call that was offset by a NE penalty.

Another way to put it is his penalty offset a NE penalty. It was totally unforced, and on that drive the Pats answered the Colts TD with one of their own, pushing the game back to 14 points.

I'm not blaming him for the loss at all. I'm mostly being sensational, but I wasn't impressed by his play, and he got on my bad side Thursday night. Not gonna miss him.

Pipkins seemed like a punk.  Maybe he only got one penalty, but he seemed to be talking more than a part time player on a one win team should be.

I liked him.  He didn't play great or anything, he played ok.  And yeah he was jawing, Edelman was running his mouth every time he caught the ball and all the rest of the Colts were acting like they were scared of him.  Pipkins didn't take it.

I assume that neither @DougDew and @Superman  like the Mitchell signing?  From all I've read all he does is talk.

This is what happens when your roster is fluid and you constantly move people from active roster to P.S.  I'm afraid we are going to end up losing someone we really want to keep due to it. Like Swoope.

No, Not yet. But he is moved back and forth from P.S. to Active more than anyone else.  When a player is released from active, they go through a small time table and can be grabbed by anyone as a F.A.  (as what happened to Pipkins).  If they continue this game with Swoope, I'm afraid he could be the next casualty.

I don't care about talking. I do care about unnecessary and costly penalties.

Moore, Hairston, Desir, & Wilson are all better players than Pipkins.

For an "ok" player he did entirely to much talking and to much drama and causing penalties

I don't see how Swoope could clear waivers again.

This suggests that both Moore and Wilson are healthy due to which Pipkins became expendable.  With Moore and Leonard in there (fingers crossed about Wilson), I think our unit is a much better defensive team. I feel we will control the Jets game with our defense with the O putting up just enough points 27-17 Colts.

Yeah, every team needs that extra TE, he had enough exposure on national television. Plus, he almost got a second TD which eventually went to Ebron.

Well, at least unnecessary and costly penalty (singular)

    • I went ahead and submitted the trade.
    • Unless things starts to get better and we go on a win streak, which at the moment isn't likely, though we have a pretty "easy" schedule for the rest of the season.    There is one thing we could hope for this, besides a miracle, is to finish with a worse record than the Giants, and pick before them in the 2019 draft.   Why?   They need a QB to replace Eli.  Other teams that could be interested in a QB would be Denver Broncos,  maybe the Oakland Raiders and possibly Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay.   As of right now, only Justin Herbert - QB from Oregon and Drew Lock from Missouri are valued as potential 1st round picks, which makes this draft very thin for the QB class.   So by finishing worse than the Giants, the Colts could sit with a strong hand come draft time, IF - and that's a big IF, two teams would wan't to go into a bidding war for Justin Herbert and make a trade to get him.   Of course I wan't the colts to win, and win now, but I'd rather have a top pick, and preferably more picks than finish with a better record, say 5-11 or 6-10 and sit at a position in the draft, where we have no leverage in a possible trade scenario.    The Giants will be the one team to watch, compared to our own record this season, If such a scenario should play out.   Regarding the Raiders, Broncos and Jaguars, I'm not sure they would necessarily pick a QB as the Giants would, If they were to finish with a worse record than us, and I don't think that either of the Broncos and Jaguars will finish below the Colts.   Yes it's early and still 10 games to go, but whats your take on this?
    • Pretty confident, Anderson will look like, Brady this week.   whether we win or not is another story.......   cant wait for the game though, go Colts!!
    • Going against Geno Atkins, Carlos Dunlap, Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham, J.J. Watt... Not bad at all. Even Clark, Haeg, Slauson held their own against such competition.
    • If you're in the final three,  we made an offer.     It's not like only three teams showed any interest.    Norwell didn't visit either the Giants or the 49ers.     His agent took offers from teams that showed interest.    The only team he went to was the one whose offer he accepted.   Since we made an offer to Jensen and he signed for nearly $11 Mill per year,  there's no reason to think we didn't make an offer to Norwell.       One last thought.....   Jensen came to Indy for a visit...   typically a signal we're going to sign the player.    And yet,  he left without a deal.    He went to Tampa and eventually signed there.   I don't "The Visit" is something that's written in stone in order for Ballard to sign a player...     if Norwell agreed to terms,  then he would've come to sign his deal as he did with Jacksonville...    without a visit ahead of time.
