browns-35.png  Browns | Jamie Collins in concussion protocol    Mon Sep 18, 01:42 PM

Cleveland Browns LB Jamie Collins (concussion) suffered a concussion in Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens.

He'll probably miss the game too.

If the Browns are missing Garrett and Collins that makes a big difference to our chances, although I have heard that Collins hasn't been as impactful as the Browns would have hoped since his move.

Admittedly I haven't seen much of them this year but seems it could be yet another body who regresses without BB on their sideline.

Well the elevator now goes only in one direction. The Browns are 2 1/2 points favored over the Colts in Indy. Despite all the negatives I can't buy the Colts falling in this one but if they do the post game discussions should be interesting to say the least. Luck is out for this one as well but I still don't see them losing.

First of all you highjacked my thread.

Secondly where are you getting that line from. Below shows like 5 Vegas sports book's lines and none are 2.5. They are all showing -1.

Also,   where are you seeing 2.5?

When I posted that the Colts were plus 2 , that's what they were. They are now plus 1. If you click on the link I provided in my last post , you'll see the opening line was Cleve minus 2 . It's now down to 1 .. which I also posted in that previous post

We will probably squeeze this one out but it's not a given. Brissett just needs to play like he did last week and make 1 or 2 big plays and we should win.

Except for the throwing into double coverage for the interception

First of all put a sock in it then notify the thread hijacking police. Second, if you knew anything about point spreads they change by the second and where did I note Vegs spread???!!

So if my grandmother says Browns by 2.5 , that makes it a legitimate point spread ? The line was not Cleveland minus 2.5 when you posted that. At least not anywhere that would be taking bets. I think it might be you that doesn't know diddly about point spreads ?

So does this mean without Luck we will never be favorite in a game this year???

Maybe not if we wind up going against another team that's missing their starting QB...even then though...I doubt it lol

I want to see how we respond in this one. This is one of those deals just like the Colts vs Texans at the end of last season.  And being honest I don't think Chuck had the team prepared for that game.  This is sort of a redemption on a lesser scale.    Great opportunity in your home stadium, Browns haven't won any games either,  all the stars aligned in terms of the injury bug and other factors for the opponent(Myles Garrett, Jamie Collins, Rookie Quarterback, etc).  On top of that all the other AFC South teams have a good likelihood of losing this weekend.

Lets see if we are prepared to go in there and take what's virtually being handed to us.   Chucks got to pull out all the stops in this one.  We gotta come out of this thing with a win.   It's not going to look very good if we don't.

I did not imply Vegas was the source. There are several point spreads in the sports media not directed toward betting. Vegas does not create point spreads to imply one team's odds of winning rather, only to attract betting money.

Not to be a know it all but I was brought up with gambling all around me. Not proud of the fact that I once did some bookmaking like 30 years ago. As to what you have above , I'm not aware of anyone who goes by a line that is a "non betting " line. I'm not even aware of any such lines being in existence. If you mean there are lines like the ones posted in newspapers , those are just taken from a gambling site.

Yes and no on how Vegas lines are originated. Yes there might be a little bit of the odds makers knowing teams like the Cowboys might get a little more betting action as they are popular but it's really more determined on how they view the strengths of the teams. What happens is shortly after Sundays goes , there are a few guys that compose the early betting lines that first come out in vegas. The casinos will not take huge bets off this line . Reasons for this is the smart action , which does this for a living, quickly find a few "bad lines." The casinos will quickly adjust these lines according to the early betting before they are buried with bad action on the games with bad lines. That's why you often see a few games with the opening Sunday line like 3 and then see 6 on Monday's line.

Anyway.. I was just breaking your stones about "hijacking my thread." I could care less if someone started a 2nd thread on a topic.  As our game with Cleveland , -1 is the only number I am seeing and I'm a bit surprised that they are favored on the road.

I think we will beat the Browns. Feel decent about that one.

If the defense can play as well as it did against the Cardinals then I feel good about this one.  Going against a rookie QB.

Offense I would hope should improve on the basis of Brissett becoming more familiar with his teammates and the playbook.

Colts have a decent shot of winning this one.

I think we will win but it wouldn't surprise me if it isn't like this past game, very close.

No question, I don't see a blowout.  With Brissett under center, especially with the limited time he's had in Indy, we don't have the offense for a blowout.
