I think the sign that said "Sack Manning Gently" put it best. I wanted the Colts to win, but I definitely wasn't cheering as hard or loud for sacks and hits on the QB. Sack him gently was a good way of putting it.

Fortunately, Mathis paid no heed.

I wanted Manning to have a good game, not get hit too hard and barely lose the game.  It took some fourth quarter crap from Trent and DHB dropping one at the 2 yard line to insure a close ending.

I loved Manning in Indy and enjoy watching him for the Broncos but will always root against any team that plays the Colts.

I thought on the big sack that Robert Mathis didn't stick his helmet right in Peyton's back like he could have (because the blocker whiffed completely)...since Manning never saw him..

..he knew who he was hitting

broncos D sucks

At some point they had to stop relying on Peyton putting up 40 plus to survive, this game showed. Besides, how many of us were nervous with Peyton knocking on the door till the Hillman fumble?

If they score there, it's 37-39 with about 3 plus minutes to go and whole different ball game.

Hello, all.

Seahawks fan, here. I just wanted to drop by and congratulate you guys on a spectacular win. Even though we lost to you in your house, I still like your club. No matter what the hype, rankings, or criticisms, please know that there are reasonable fans from opposing teams that truly recognize that you guys are serious SB contenders. While I still love my team more, I give all respect in solid games you play, and wins against real teams (not like the soft-scheduled Chiefs). As far as I am concerned, The Colts should be ranked at the very top of the AFC. I look forward to the very real possibility of facing you guys in the last game of the season (SB). With both of our teams healthy, I think it will be a truly spectacular match-up, and an amazing game. Best of luck to you through the rest of the season!

I think the word you're struggling for is "Stalking".

Also he didn't lose it, the broncos lost. They scored 33 points, it just wasnt enough. Brady had a bigger game yesterday than Peyton did. Division games are much bigger than out of division conference games. Did Tom choke?

Thanks for the correction.

Yes Brady choked and so did Manning. That homecoming and game were huge for Manning and he lost just like in so many big games (playoffs) in the past.

That game was great. I can't believe some posters feel bad for Manning.

I don't feel bad for Manning.  He's still gonna get his 5th MVP.  And challenge for the #1 seed in the AFC.

Was very bitter sweet for me, from start to finish. It's even worse today, knowing that Reggie is done for the year. I'd trade this win for Reggie being well, and wouldn't look back.

I liked seeing our defense play such a good game, especially in the secondary. The stops on third and short are kind of the epitome of Irsay's comments (having a team that can make plays on both sides of the ball; and then we forced a fumble on special teams, for good measure). I liked how Luck made plays all game long. We still haven't lost back to back games in the Grigson/Pagano/Luck era. We slayed the third dragon on our schedule. All of that is awesome.

But at the end of the game, I couldn't shake this gnawing feeling that the Broncos were going to come back and win it, and it didn't really go away until the onside kick went out of bounds (it started to fade when Manning got tackled instead of throwing the ball away; not a "great Peyton Manning comeback" kind of play). We've been on the opposite side of that kind of game so many times. Even after Hillman's fumble, the game was still in reach.

And I hate how so many people are saying that Manning didn't play well. He got hit on the interception, and the sack/fumble was just a great play by Mathis (39th time he's done that in his career). The two other turnovers were bad breaks. This narrative -- Manning wasn't himself -- downplays how well the Colts defense played, and how well the offense responded by putting enough points on the board. It wasn't Manning's best game, but I don't think he didn't play well. The Colts just responded like champs.

I found myself watching very quietly ....

..To see Peyton get hit and then Andrew get hit....

Every injury was a little painful...Champ and Reggie...made me sad

The crowd was load and great and respectful but all the '18' signs...there was some sad ness there, too

The opening ceremony was simple and touching

I was happy the Colts won,., they needed the victory to take control in the division...

Denver could afford to lose and the Colts outplayed them..

But I couldnt root against Peyton in Indianapolis and I couldn't root against the Colts and Andrew.

I didn't know how I'd feel......but I watched very quietly...

This is exactly how I watched the game and how I felt. Even today, I'm neutral. I'm not as excited as I should be. It was a weird game to watch.

i cant help bu tto feel for Manning...he is on the colts of 08 again... a team that relies on him to put up 40 points a game.

that defense is gonna cost them a sb

Once the pageantry was over and done with, I thoroughly enjoyed watching our D get after him, picks, sacks, a safety, it was awesome. If this D can do what that to Manning, they can do that to anyone.

Of course, I do live in Colorado and had some harsh comments come my way yesterday from some tools that were wearing those orange #18 jerseys, so last night was very gratifying for me as a Colts fan.

I was telling my wife the same thing a couple of days ago. Denver's Defense looked so promising last year. I thought this is great, Peyton finally has a very good Defense and prolific Offense, but the Defense if falling apart. The Offense is going to have to carry the Broncos like they did the Colts.

Peyton choked?  The man's states were almost identical to Andrew's. Were you watching the same game? Our Defense lite the Broncos up! The 12th man ~ lite the Broncos UP! The Offense was outstanding. Peyton is gone for what ever reasons. Let him go and move on cause I guarantee you its wont be the last time we have to get rid of a marquee player.

Was anyone really surprises that Peyton choked in another great moment? I wasn't.

Absolutely not. Just another QB to me. Glad he's gone, we're better off now. He just can't finish games like Luck. Oh, and he could have stayed. $$$$$$$$

Good first post for a new member (yesterday) :sarcasm:  Also Peyton was a little more than a Marquee Player. :sigh: Watched the game and Peyton's stats were better than Andrews.  :troll:

I had no problem rooting against Peyton, although I did catch myself cheering him on in the second half when they started to roll and had to ask myself "what am I doing?" But I didn't not enjoy seeing him get hit anymore than I want to see Luck get hit. I don't like my guys to get hit, and Peyton is still one of my guys.

Seeing Peyton was emotional, and  I  enjoyed the Tribute, and the game.   What was Hard, was seeing Reggie go down..

Another  part that was Hard for me to Watch was the way some of the Fans behaved.  Some of the most obnoxious Fans I've ever encountered at all of the games that I've  attended over the years..  The Woman sitting next to me, throughout the Entire Game  yelling for Peyton to Go Home,  No One wants you Here,  No one Cares About you and so on.....  I very politely said to her  "I do".

Two "Colts Fans" in our section were ejected before the 2nd Quarter ended...  What a Shame, to spend all that money and be escorted out before the First Half was even over.

I think LOUD Rap Music Blaring during Pre-game and Unlimited Alcohol for some is Not a Good Mix.    Note the Article below.   Evidentally our Section was not the only section with mis-behaved Fans...

I was excited by this matchup completely because Peyton was starting QB for an undefeated team. I loved how our colts played. But I was still sad to see Peyton and how sad he looked to be here. I think its the reason he played worse than usual. Jmo, but when a city becomes home and fans become friends and a team a family for 14 years, I believe it would effect me as well.

Did you just become a Colts fan a year ago?

I bet you weren't saying this a few years ago when he was our QB

If you think Manning choked then you clearly know little about football

Yeah he was. Because he's not a Colts fan. He's a Pats fan.

I enjoyed it.  It's a game meant for enjoyment.  One of the coolest moments I will always remember was the tip of the cap Manning gave the crowd and the crowd giving him the standing ovation.  From there it was fun to watch the Colts play and do what they do in what was a playoff astrosphere.  The downer was clearly Reggie's injury.  Other than that it was nice to watch the Colts play a big game against a team I don't hate (like the Steelers, Pats, or Chargers for example). Clearly I think the fact the Colts won the game made it all that more enjoyable but that was an awesome game on Sunday night, fitting of all the hype around it.

Actually his stats were vastly superior to Andrew's.

I think your definition of "vastly" must be vastly different than mine. Besides total yds. on 11 more attempts than Luck had, his stats were not anything even remotely close to "vastly superior" than Luck.

You hit the nail on the head.  Ill never forget what Peyton did for this team.  I almost wish he would have retired because I cant root against him ever, and I want him to win another SB

Yeah, vastly is a bit of an exaggeration seeing as how effective Luck was running the ball, that they both had three TDs, Manning had an interception, and that Luck had a slightly better QB rating. Manning had a better completion percentage although not a particularly good one.

Clearly I was referring primarily to the yardage. Dismissible if done in garbage time in a blowout, but significant when it leaves the opponent gasping for air and hanging on by their toenails. For perspective, the Broncos had 429 net yards of offense, the Colts only 334. If you look at the weekly leaders in passing, Manning is first in yardage with 386, Luck 19th with 228. Manning had 7.88 yards per attempt, Luck 6.00 yards per attempt.

Don't get me wrong, Luck played fantastic and did what he had to do to win the game - but statistically there is little comparison. Over a season that's 6,176 yards versus 3,648. How would you characterize it?

One team was down 3 scores and had to pass and the other had to attempt to at least take some time off the clock with a big lead...of course the numbers are a bit skewed.

I wasn't quiet. I rooted for my :colts: was biting my shirt on 3rd downs hoping we converted. Yelled at the screen when DHB dropped that corner pass I believe it was after Reggie went out. Not sure

I yelled "Ball Ball!!!" When Robert Mathis got the strip sack. I was not quiet at all

And as most of you know I don't get to see our Colts much so I cheer when I do get to watch them

There was a sadness on his face even when the crowd was cheering him, ICF

I thought that, too...

It was so odd because none of the other players on either side could possibly feel the

emotion he was feeling,...

I think he'd rather play anyone but the Colts

...again.. I hope they don't meet again until he retires

Thanks, that makes sense. Haven't been here in a long time

Kind of pathetic to be trolling another team's message board after an emotional game like that

Stop crying. The Colts won and you should be glad PM has taken his one and dones and chronic choking to Denver.

    • Yeah, Ebukam almost looks clumsy next to Latu. He's just so fluid.
    • Did Hou actually get that much better? This really does remain to be seen. I am of the opinion that the signing of Diggs is a signing that has been made about 2 years too late. He won't be bad, but he isn't a top 10 WR in the NFL anymore. I wouldn't put him as any more dangerous that Pittman, so WR's are a push. We have the better RB, Mixon is great and all, but he is not JT. We have the better Oline, and it isn't even close. TE's are a push, we have a lot of upside, but until it is realised im very "meh" on our TEs. QB - I would argue that Stroud is probably more likely to regress to the mean in year 2 vs improve. That rookie season of his was a bit silly, and they had an easier schedule last season too. If he really does build on last year and get even better, then our entire discourse here is probably irrelevant as we will have another Mahomes level QB on our hands to deal with in the AFC and within the AFC South no less. So unless Richardson is also a Mahomes level talent in that scenario, we are done for anyways. To me, our success in this coming season comes down to 2 groups on this entire team. 1. The QB (because... duh) 2. Our DBs. If we even get average play from the DBs, I think this team has the ability to win the whole damned thing (supposing Richardson stays healthy and is what we all hope he is). I would also argue that Houston are paper thin. If they lose a OL starter, Mixon or even one of their starting WRs.... they have a very big drop off. And injuries happen in the NFL. Just sayin...
    • If he wasn’t fast enough or athletic enough anymore for linebacker, then he’s not going to be able to cut it at Safety where speed , quickness, athleticism are even more important.    Wish it wasn’t so….
    • could he be another bob sanders at that position?
    • Man I love me some Maniac, but it won't happen, and he's too slow after his surgeries.
