Quantum88
If we actually have about 40 million in cap space for next year, that does not mean we have 40 million to just go buy talent. We have a number of guys who have performed well for us who were brought in on 1 year contracts who we have to take care of as well with that money if we want them back. Hans Moleman
I trust we'll manage things well and not blow our cap space on overpriced guys. This is one of the biggest benefits of winning in year one of a rebuild, though- you don't have to overpay free agents to come to you if you're already winning. Bad teams are the ones who generally overpay to attract FA talent, mainly because they have to.
jbaron04
RT - Phil LoadholtRG - Geoff SchwartzDE - Ropati PitoituaDE - Desmond BryantNT - Aubrayo FranklinOLB - Anthony SpencerCB - Keenan LewisSS - William MooreMost of these guys shouldn't be too expensive. Spencer and Moore would probably cost the most, but probably not more than 7 or 8 mil a year. The 3 Dlinemen and Schwartz would be around 2 mil a year, and Loadholt would get a contract that looks like Eric Winston's 4 year/22 contract. This offseason could honestly make our team elite next year, especially since Luck and all the other rookies will make their sophomore jump.Whst about pairing r. Seymour with redding on the ends I like that team even doe there a little older.

The Peytonator
Whst about pairing r. Seymour with redding on the ends I like that team even doe there a little older.Seymour isn't a FA. If he were released I would be neutral on signing him. He is still a dominant player, but he'd be too expensive and would only be a band-aid for a couple seasons. There are TONS of possible 5tech/DTs that will be available this offseason, I just think Pitoitua and Bryant would be perfect fits at a relatively cheap contract. Neither guys are big names, but they are young and have perfect size/ability....Pito especially.
The Peytonator
thanksI should have clarified....that's my list. I believe it would be against league rules for coaches/GMs to talk about guys they want to pursue in the offseason.

throwing BBZ
I think putting a FA Rock beside Castonzo would be excellent. Our #1 Drftpick would be a RT/G combo, with me hoping Ijalana coming back healthy to take 1 of those right side spots.Watching some more slow mo of the game, maybe Shipley should start. So with Castonzo & a VG FA G on the left, Ijalana & a #1 pick on the right & Shipley up the gut at C, I think we could Pass Block & Run the ball. With Reitz, Link, & McGlynn as backups.Grig Must find another pass rusher, NOT named Freeney, and a Solid corner and a RB or two.JMO, but for this defense, with the exception of needing a pass rusher, we are in pretty good shape with our current lineman and linebackers.Freeman & Fokou was a heckuva deal, with Angerer & Kavell too, ALL of those guys are coming into this D. Learning fast and playing well. Our Big Guys with hopefully an improving Fili coming back and a healthy Chapman, I think we have a pretty rugged group developing up front. Vontae is a player IMO, and after all the CB shuffling we have done this season, it looks like we may have found 2-3 guys that might become keepers longer term. Still want a TOP Notch CB added ASAP. loudnproudcolt
Hey everyone-I don't post very much, and I thank everyone for what they find out there on the Colts, especially when considering FA. I think two points should be made about free agency though. If I am correct, with around $40 million in cap space to spend, the Collective Bargaining agreement stated that teams going into the third year of the CB must use up to 90% of the capspace. This was to stop the cheapskate teams I guess. So a good portion of the money will be spent. Also, we need to consider the following year and FA, because things will change again. Why, new television agreement. This year cap will stay close to $120 million. I don't know how much it will rise, but when the new TV agreement is signed, the cap will move up again, so we will have more free cap space for 2014. Still, we will have to use 90% of the cap space we have this year. My opinion, big FA signings usually do not work out, it seems once they have their money. I look for more intermediate signings with upside. Still, I would be remiss to say, I think Jerrius Byrd falls perfectly into the category for us, and Dolphins have said they won't franchise Long. He would be expensive, but that is the one expensive FA I would sign. Him at LT and Castanzo at RT, and sign a guard. Imagine for a second Luck not having to run for his life what he could do. But whenever we consider FA, we must consider the changes that will occur the next two years!!

Superman
Joe Banner had major input as well. You're correct.....Grigson was no where near the one and only decision-maker in Philly.Grigson was third or fourth in line, behind Reid, Roseman and Banner. Saying he was making personnel decisions is like saying Tom Telesco was making decisions during the Polian regime, or even now. What the Eagles did in 2011 has nothing to do with how Ryan Grigson will approach his responsibilities with the Colts. HtownColt
Here is Todd McShay mock 1st round pick for colts:No. 24 -- ColtsEzekiel Ansah, DE, BYUMcShay: “The Colts have a lot of needs along the front seven in their new 3-4 scheme. Ansah is raw, but he made huge strides in 2012 and showed impressive versatility for a player with limited experience. He also has a rare combination of size and speed. While Ansah is a project, the potential reward if he reaches his potential could be worth the risk.”Kuharsky: They can add virtually anywhere except quarterback. I suspect fans and a good share of media will call for cornerback or offensive lineman.

Gavin
Ansah highlights for those that have never seen Ansah Damontre Moore highlights for those that have never seen Moore, My personal opinion is if I was picking a pass rushing DE/OLB and it came down to them two and I had to choose either of them then I would draft Moore, Sheds his blockers better, has a better first step and is more explosive in my opinion, I really like how well he does in pursuit, Draw would be maturity. Only 20 years old and been in trouble for marijuana . I'd rather have a shot at Brandon Jenkins in the 2nd(if shows he is healthy) if Warmack is gone, by trading down. chrisfarley
]✔[@nfldraftscoutAlready hearing from upcoming free agents who say they'd like to go play with Luck and the #Colts. Players are taking notice.apparently the guy is a respected writer so maybe this holds some weight but if its true I am really excited for the offseason..I'm pretty sure most players in the league have taken notice and wishing they could be apart of this squad. Negotiations should be pretty easy when its time to lure in the free agents that Grigson has his eye on.If Grigson lays an egg in the off-season, this board will blow up all over him like an Ostrich puking on green eggs and ham., ...... im not saying he wil but I'm just saying........ krunk
I wonder if Reggie Bush would make a good replacement for Donald Brown next year if we decide not to keep him? Bush has a similar style to Marshall Faulk to me in some ways. I think he'd be good in this offense. Great competitor. It appears he will be a FA next year, and it seems the Dolphins have not opened talks with him as of yet.
NewColtsFan
Off the top of my head, I can't think of a single Free Agent that I want to sign for 5-years. Not one. And if it means the player goes elsewhere, so be it. I don't want the Colts in Salary Cap Hell in 3-5 years like we were this year.... no thanks! I want 2-4 year deals for our signings. And, most important to me, I want younger players coming off their first contract, who are roughly 25-26 years old. Guys who are 27-28 years old, I want to limit to 3-year deals. I want to make sure the players we get can give us performance and value for multiple years. If there's an older player we covet, then I'd prefer 1-2 year deals, 3 years max. We gave 3-years to Redding, and one or two others this past off-season I believe. Redding has worked out great -- this year. Hopefully he will in 2013 and '14. I have confidence in Grigson. I think he's a smart savvy guy. I don't see him throwing around money recklessly.
NewColtsFan
Sorry.... But I don't understand this fascination with Franklin, the NT. He'll be 33 next season. He's on his 4th team. The Colts would make 5. And his last two teams would be for one year. If those teams are letting him walk, there's a good reason. This is not how we want to spend our FA dollars. He's way, WAY past his prime. Posters here are remembering the player he used to be. He's not that guy anymore. And he hasn't been for some time. Sorry.
