He needed to be let go.  He was terrible at defending the deep ball.

Took me a while to realize this before we acquired him because I had never really sat down and watched a lot of Robinson.   Ballard is cleaning house!  I feel a breeze coming through this mug the bones are so naked.   Let's see what he does to build it back together.

I think this could be a good sign that we're working on re-signing Butler. Hopefully.

And that we're at least drafting one CB.

Butler is better at S and I would bet he's not he's cutting all the old players that's a good thing

He may be better at safety but Butler's a solid slot corner, he held QB's to an impressively low rating this season.

With that said though, yeah I wouldn't be surprised if he's not re-signed. Ballard definitely wants to get young and this is a solid draft for CB's.

I kinda have a feeling this more "we can't really trust him due to injury history" than anything.  When he started getting healthy he was starting to play well last year...that "healthy time" just didn't last very long.

 

As for a replacement, Amukamara?  well nope, just saw he signed with Chicago.  Claiborne?  Sam Shields as a stop-gap?  Hey, Greg Toler appears to be available.

Yeah, I can see that especially because our other CB's get pretty dinged up too.

With Vontae, Butler, and Robinson, it was a pretty oft injured grouping this season.

I think Robinson would actually do okay in a pure zone scheme like what we used to run under Dungy.  But he's trash in a Man to Man scheme.

He was actually rated quite poorly at slot corner this past season, but really well at Safety. I'd love to resign him to play FS full time and play the slot if needed.

 

I'd also like to sign Claiborne if he comes at a reasonable price. I was on board with bringing him in on a cheap deal before his breakout year, because I felt our scheme fit him way better and would definitely take him now.

But one corner who WON'T be signing with the Colts,  is Logan Ryan.

 

He signed late yesterday with TENNESSEE and he only got 3/30.      Did I mention his deal was 3/30?

 

Not sure why we didn't want a piece of that,  but we didn't.........   color me disappointed on that one.

Huh, after his injuries then? Because he was rated as the best slot corner around late November.

It was the right move Robinson was inconsistent. We're most likely drafting a CB in the 1st round.

I'd have to think so....we have one starting corner left. I love this draft and don't mind spending a couple picks on corners but I think we have to be bringing someone in.....on top of re-signing Butler imo.

I expect that if we find his replacement...that is why I think a corner signing is coming soon. You don't get rid of everyone before you have their replacement.

I'd give Kayvon Webster a shot to fill the #2 spot. Draft another CB in the first two rounds and create some competition at that position.
