That was a strange win.  W is a W.

the atmosphere in 2nd half was weird at the stadium.  Then at the end I think Colts fans were stunned by the win lol.

I thought we’d match up better than we did v. JAX.

KC is definitely less dangerous without HIll.

Chiefs had no problem beating the great Herbert and the great Murray without Hill but when he can't beat a guy that walks with a cane (like some in here say - meaning Matt is old), the excuses roll out from the naysayers of this team. When we beat them in 2019 with Brissett, it was because Mahomes had a boo boo on his ankle. Anytime we have a huge victory, some make excuses for the other team, that is beyond strange.

Mahomes was healthy, Kelce was healthy, Jones was healthy, they still have Andy Reid, and we beat them fair and square. We beat them with JT only having 71 yards and no TD's and Leonard didn't even play The Simpsons GIF by KiwiGo (KGO)- I could debate that we didn't play near as good as we could have played and still won. Taylor is usually an automatic 100, if not 90 yards and 1 TD.

we should play every team like we play kc, that was great coaching today.

we arent going to score 40 points a game and

we always play that gameplan very well.

20-30 point game average, more our less giving turnovers.

and pitt can top off any defense by now. lots of good stuff.

its a great game plan. thats exactly what we do. stay focused, stay prepared

moreover if this is our gameplan against good teams, which we will face in the playoffs. we should be playing this football 24/7. like, this is what we get good at. drills, anything, etc... we can build for this attitude

Defense wins championships but of course you need a good QB to not mess it up. When Leonard returns, I am thinking our defense will go from average to good. Could be wrong but we will see. As the games go on I think Matt will at least be good. Matt has been average for the most part but was great in the 4th QTR against Houston and yesterday, so he still has it by my eye test.

I think our D has been good overall, it went up a notch in the Chiefs game, and hopefully those changes with playing Thomas and Stroud carry over to next game, same with Rodgers. It will go from good to very good once Leonard comes back.

Just saw the snap counts and Cross had one snap at safety after starting the earlier games.  The veteran McLeod is the new starter with Blackmon.  Bradley made a big lineup change this week.  Hopefully the offense does the same thing this week and they bench Pinter.

Blackmon going out helped us see how well Thomas played too, we should trot out McLeod and Thomas till we see differently.

I don't feel the same way.

The defense wasn't good against Houston and JAX.  It was good yesterday,

Hmm, I thought Cross did fine? Blackmon was the problem.

the guy who was second is going to turn some heads.

i think a lot of people watching live dont get to see the real problems .  they just see a lot of pressures and assume pryor was horrible or the line played bad .   watching the game again i noticed almost all of the pressures were from blitzing at least 5 and the problem was picking it up let free runners hit ryan .

Agree with your comment.

I don't see Matt or JT being able to do much if the OL doesn't get fixed.

This was not a win. This was a really good Chiefs team beating themselves.

I posted this in another thread yesterday that we need to stop relying on good teams screwing up, so we get wins, and here we are again. Nailed it!!

14 points off Chiefs mistakes. Muff punt and Jones penalty.

Again, through 3 weeks this team should have realistically only scored 9 points. That's it. Thanks to the Texans prevent D and the Chiefs mistakes we have now scored a meager 13 pts a game average.

I don't care if I get bashed here.

Unless this current team starts getting lambasted, nothing will change in Indianapolis. Year after year of terrible football, and possibly win division in the worst division in football.

How does this help?

Everybody should send the Chiefs a big thank you card :sarcasm:

Terrible take. You are complaining that the Chiefs made mistakes and the Colts capitalized on said mistakes. Would you have felt better if they just decided to take a knee 3 times and punt right back to them? Mistakes are part of the game, fumbles, muff punts, interceptions, etc. To complain that the Colts actually capitalized on them and somehow don’t deserve the win is just absurd.

Do you believe without those mistakes this Colts team would have beaten the Chiefs?

If your answer is no, then my take is spot on.

If your answer is yes, then you are just a blind homer trying to get my goat.

A win is a win, but still a lot of issues with the offense, from Reich sounds like Ryan has control of the protection calls. They may need to give it to Kelly, idk if that would help but they need to try something. I would like to see more passes down field instead of the occasional deep throw to Dulin, if the defense is gonna stack the box try some intermediate passes maybe do a rollout away from the pressure. I'm just a fan but I feel there is more in the play calling department that would help the offense (and the O-line) instead of passing for 4 yards.

IDK if the Chiefs were overlooking this game as they play the Bucs next week, but I don't think we got their best effort. I'm not trying to discount the defenses performance because they played well and I was glad to see Rodgers get some snaps even if that was just because Gilmore was hurt.

Considering all the turnovers and lack of support from the offense, they could have been much much worse.

I do agree with that, but calling them good seems silly.  They had nearly no pressure on the QB, gave up way too many easy passes and overall were not impressive.   If Bradley would have said (after the Jags game), that he was thrilled how the defense has played in the first 2 games, I would have been disappointed.    After the KC game, I would be fine with.

Did the Colts make mistakes?  Did the Chiefs capitalize on those mistakes to secure a win?

Both teams made mistakes and the Colts capitalized on those mistakes.  The Chiefs didn't.  Doesn't mean the Colts are a great team but they did do what it took to win against a Superbowl favorite.

Good teams don't beat themselves and capitalize on the mistakes of the other team.

#1 - we didn't lose to the Texans, we tied = big difference. #2 - The Jags are not a bottom 5 team this year, I have them as a top 15 (around 15) team at the moment after just dismantling the Chargers at LA. Jags may win 8 or 9 games if they keep up what they are doing.

Its killing you to see them win, isnt it?

We should be 2-1 right now, with our only loss being a road game against what looks like a much improved and pretty damn tough Jacksonville team while missing our 2 starting receivers and our best defensive player. So it doesnt really matter if you think they are terrible or not. The record, when combined with a win over the Chiefs coming off 10 days rest, suggests they are very competitive.

I mean they havent even played well and they have only lost 1 out of 3. Theyve made a million mistakes but you dont give them any bail for those mistakes the way you do for Kansas City.

You call people a blind homer who are just being objective. You are more biased than anybody, because you have already made your determination before you have given the team a chance. Its a long season and how you are playing early in the year doesnt matter nearly as much as how you are playing at the end of the year. We are incorporating a lot of new stuff on the field this year including a new QB and a new defensive scheme so I assure you, they will get better and better as the year goes on.

You say they have no receivers without giving Alec Peirce a chance to prove you wrong. He sure looked like a good receiver on Sunday. Now it looks like they may have 2 very good starting receivers to go with JT & Hines, and a descent group of TEs to boot. All the sudden the cupboard isnt so bare. Jelani Woods looked like he couldbmake a big impact this year. Granson looks like he is coming along rather nicely. Gilmore looks like an upgrade on Rhodes. McLeod looks like a sneaky nice addition to the team. Ngakoue looked like the guy who we brought in to bolster our DL and take them to the next level. Kwity Paye has played excellent football so far. Dayo Odeyingbo has also flashed quite a bit. Grover Stewart is looking like a monster. These narratives that Chris Ballard hasnt addressed these issues are slowly getting ripped to shreds. Matt Pryor even played pretty well on Sunday.

You are way too quick to throw in the towel.

If the Colts can figure out their protection issues and stay reasonably healthy they are gonna have a chance to make some noise this year, whether you like it or not. By the end of the year these young players are gonna have improved drastically and that will change how this team looks.

People will be people, no matter how good we play they will be critical of the team in one way. I could care less this week about any of the negative Nancy's because we just beat arguably the best team in football with the best QB. That is all it counts.

A couple of points that I haven't seen yet mentioned.

Got to give credit to Frank for going for it at 4th and 1 at our own 30 with 6+ minutes left.

I thought for sure he was going to punt the ball.

Romo and Nance said "You have to go for it here.  How many times are you going to shut down Mahomes ?"

Credit to Frank for having the cojones to go for it and call the perfect play, the QB sneak.

That was huge.

This was a must-win game. We needed the win. I was happy to see Woods get the two tds, and Pierce have a good game. If people want hope, it's that the rookies may be able to help Pittman on offense. Defense was actually nice as well as the special teams though. Got to watch half of it at the casino, so that was fun.

I think the Titans game this week is also a must-win. They aren't unstoppable with Henry either. 2-1-1 would get us right back into the playoff hunt. I'm not convinced that Reich is good at this point (we need to make the playoffs to convince me of that), but I feel the team is talented enough to make a run.

No point in giving up this early. Let's see if they ride the momentum and win two in a row.

Props to you for being positive and taking peoples' abuse. You ended up being right on your bet and I respect that.

Too quick to throw in towel? It's been 6 years of this junk. 6 years. Same story different players.

Your last paragraph is the same thing that is said year after year. Just give it time so they will gel, blah, blah, blah. Pffft.

This offense after 3 games is dead last in the NFL. Dead Last. After 6 years, this team should at least be extremely close to seriously competing and it is NOT!! An offense that, other than the Ryan, Pierce and Woods, were completely overlooked this off-season and Ryan has been god-awful. Call me crazy but I was one who told you he was washed up, but why listen to me?

I want this team to lose so these bozos, i.e. Reich and Ballard are sent packing, and we can get a legitimate front office with an actual plan, and I also want a legitimate opportunity to grab a potential franchise QB in 2023 so we don't have to be hamstrung to washed up Ryan next year.

If this team somehow makes the playoffs because of being in a terrible division, how does that help the future of this team where you have a coach who is more suitable as a coordinator and a GM who is so arrogant and cheap that he consistently puts this team in a crippling situation year after year?

Other than YOU and @2006Coltsbestever and whatever other old guys who want to always just brow beat those of us who really know what bad football looks and smells like, and for yawl being able to cheer lead some victories, what's the end game here?

Because it certainly isn't a Super Bowl.

You sound like a mental patient. So overly dramatic and full of hyperbole it is ridiculous.

But I must admit, it makes the victories even sweeter knowing youre at home mad and all red faced probably driving your mom crazy and getting sent to your room.........for that reason alone I hope he extends Ballard another 5 years.
