Id give the Eagles a mid range defensive player for Wentz then they would have to give us their one for us to take the contact. If you listen to lombardi's podcast or even when he talks sparingly on Pat macafees channel he said he thinks Ballards not dumb enough to give up anything for Wentz and the contract. Likely all the rumors are the Eagles or Wentz agents trying to create a market for him and drive up the price.

Yes....  that’s what he said.   I’m explaining I think that view is flawed.   That’s all.

I was confused for a second but went back and re-read.

I understand what you were saying now.

I initially thought you were saying that Doug said use our 2nd and 3rd on replacements, but you were saying you don't draft a guy in 2nd(RYS) and a guy in the 3rd(Oke) and expect them to be replaced by a 3rd and 4th round pick.

No they can replaced by guys already on the roster

Fitzpatrick could bridge at a MUCH cheaper cost.

Eason is already on the team what are we needing Fitzpatrick to bridge too? A maybe playoff season and another mid to late first round pick?

Either go get a guy or let Eason play. No more bridges

Yes...    you put it more simply and directly than I did.   And that’s good.

I sure hope something good happens on the QB front soon, for Chloe's sake.

Stafford gone - anguish build up

Wentz rumored else where - there is nothing left after him

Colts rumors deal for less than 1st - Ballard wont do it.

Please just something good happen for her sake. Put her mind at ease, please.

Doug...   I think you’ve been in a toll for several days now.   Lots of good posts.   And I was with you on this post until the last paragraph.

I don’t think you use pick 34 on a corner, and if he doesn’t work out, think he can be replaced with a 3rd round corner which would be mid-80’s.

And I don’t think you use pick 87 on a LB like Okereke and think he can be replaced with a 4th rounder which this year would be around the mid-120’s.

Yiu might get lucky, but I think that’s all it would be.

What I meant was, that their level of play can be replaced with draft picks that are slightly lower than where they were drafted, if that makes sense.  I'm not an RYS basher like some, but I think he was probably over drafted at 34, which is a pretty high pick.

Somebody put up the athletic metric from the combine, sort of a spider web looking thing that I forget the name, and RYS athleticism is pretty poor.  And he doesn't have top end speed.  He will always be a #2 corner.  In a zone scheme, #2 corners can be had around the 3rd round, IMO.

And OKe is a nice player, but he has struggled in coverage.  Since we have Leonard, the other ILBs are always going to roll off the team after 3-4 years, IMO.  The #2 and #3 ILBs are cheap and easy to find.

And from another angle, I doubt that Ballard sees either player as one of the core players he's going to extend, so their time here is probably up at contract time.  They are short timers anyway, so trading them for something of value makes sense.  That's more of a guess. JMO.

Dungy and Polian used to do the same thing with ILBs and CBs.  Draft them, then replace them come contract time in about 3 years.

Yep we could be like the 90's Huskers and just run the option with Hines and Taylor and Hines can just throw short when needed behind great blocking lmao

Taylor needs to receive the snap. Can't have Hines running up the middle after fake handoff.

If this deal goes down for the Bears I think we are done with QB speculation of any value until the draft. If they sign anyone it will just be a journeyman QB you hope doesn’t start.

Ballard is a great GM, he knows more than me but I would focus in on Carr. I have said that for weeks. Gruden loves Mariota and Carr is above average to good.
