With the 44th pick in the 2018 NFL Mock Draft, the Potomac Drainage Basin Indigenous Persons select

Da'Shawn Hand, DE, Alabama

Todd McShay - The Potomac Drainage Basin Indigenous Persons  got a large, very strong defensive end to bookend with Jonathan Allen, their rookie from Alabama last year.  He'll definitely improve their 32nd ranked run defense, but he's got some work to do getting his upfield burst better.

Trey Wingo - Wow!  Look at this facility!  This draft in Dallas is the best draft ever!  Wow!

Adam Schefter (on the phone) - Sources at the Potomac Drainage Basin Indigenous Persons say that the GM coveted safety Ronnie Harrison, which was picked right in front of them.  They had to scramble to get this pick to the podium in time.

Chris Mortenson - Uh..  I, uh.. heard... uh...

Adam Schefter (still on the phone) - I'm being told that the Potomac Drainage Basin Indigenous Persons GM feels that they have no team identity, after years of building through free agency.  Now, after this draft, they've taken Alabama players with their first two picks for two straight years.  They're importing the Alabama identity lock, stock, and barrel here to the Potomac Drainage Basin Indigenous Persons.

John Gruden - I wish I stayed at ESPN

The Green Bay Packers are on the clock @crazycolt1

Fixed a few grammaticals. LOL.

LOL, thanks!  (although you left two spaces after "Persons")

I got the idea of drafting only Alabama players after reviewing the Washington summary page in the Lindy's Draft Guide.  Gave me a chuckle seeing if it could be done.  I truly did want to draft Harrison, but I was concerned he wouldn't fall far enough in the 2nd in this mock for me to take him.  And I couldn't trade up to get him, being that I have no 3rd round pick to trade.  Nope, just have to go with Best Player Available.  Or, in my case, Best Alabama Player Available.  Besides, how long has it been since the Persons actually had all of their picks?  That hadn't been traded in previous drafts?  (See, RGIII)  So, I just had to sit and do my best with what I had.  Da'Shawn Hand isn't a terrible option, but he's not high on my own personal board.  I'm still gonna try to pick Alabama when it comes to my turn in the 4th round.  Although Bo Scarbrough may be the only player left at that time.  I think the smart thing for the Persons to do is draft QB Luke Faulk, if he's still available.  Alex Smith may be a good replacement for the departed Cousins, but he's not a young man anymore.  But he's not 'Bama born.  Hmph.

Roll Persons!

Chargers will select Justin Reid, S, Stanford

Chargers missed out in not taking Malik Hooker in last years draft. Their 2017 starting safety Tre Boston is now an unsigned free agent and depth at that position is very bare. Justin Reid has been projected to come as early as the first round.

According to NFL online:

Reid is what teams are looking for at the safety position in 2018. He's a plus size/speed prospect who has the athletic ability to help with man coverage and the instincts and ball skills for ball-hawking duties on the back end. Reid can get himself into some trouble when he's overly aggressive, but his positive plays far outweigh the negative. He has the talent to become an early starter and a good one. Reid's instincts and play traits should make him a safe selection with Pro Bowl potential down the road.

The Chargers o-line are definitely in need of an upgrade but I feel the remaining o-line players are very weak.

Sorry for the wait I was in two minds on whether to draft Brian O'Neill or not. Also as I am rookie my posts have to be approved be a moderator so there is a considerable delay after I post

Sorry, it is @Irish Colt with a space whose turn is up for the Chargers. :)

I don't think so. Look at the bottom to see who is "recently browsing". Check out his profile. The profile of Irish Colt with a space has no content in the past 2 years or so.

Great. I did not see your post. I was going to suggest Brian O'Neill if you did not make a pick.

Reid is a good choice. (I am a Stanford fan.) :)

With the 49th pick of the 2018 NFL Draft, The Indianapolis Colts select (via PM);

Deon Cain, WR, Clemson

@Clem-Dog and The Cowboys are on the clock

While I'm a big Clemson fan, living in SC and all, not a fan of this pick. I like the WR depth this year and don't think WR is a huge need. That being said, I haven't looked at the board to see who was available so I guess I shouldn't make that call
