Might give some insight into Ballard's decision to trade down. I remember Ballard saying in a podcast this week that he had visited all of his top 8 prospects on their big board.
  2. If Darnell Savage and Nasir Adderley are both on the board at our pick #59, who do you take? Also, where do you think guys will be drafted? Nasir Adderley unofficial numbers: 6ft height 200 pounds weight 4.51-second 40 yard dash 19 reps bench press 38-inch vertical jump 10′9″ broad jump
  3. Chris Ballard is trying to preach unity through competition. He wants every position rife with players breaking a sweat trying to get the starting job. If you pay crazy money for a guy, it's hard for the other player to feel like they have a chance at a starting job with their inferiority complex. The same works for the FA signing who feels like a shoe-in. It's the same culture the Patriots have been so successful with. I know it hurts but I know Ballard wouldn't pass up on these guys if he didn't have a Marcus Hunt 2.0 waiting in wings.
  4. I know Trey Flowers is the most popular on this forum but do you think given that if the Pats are successful on Sunday he'll have won 2 Superbowls and therefore join whatever team will offer him the most money?
  5. I really like Renfrow. He runs routes better than anyone and has great hands to make up for his measurables. Clemson had a saying "3rd and Renfrow" meaning if you need a play on 3rd down give it to Renfrow. He reminds in that sense of Edelman. I think if Renfrow was 5 inches taller he'd be a 1st rd. I'd be willing to take him in the 3rd.
  6. I think it's fair to point out too that at the time our 2nd round picks were all considered reaches. I like that Ballard went with his gut and drafted players who were considered reaches. It means he won't be hindered by the prospect that we'll draft at > 20 in the foreseeable future.
  7. The NFL wants the LA Rams to win the Superbowl so it can gain attention and capture a fanbase in the LA market. If the NFL agrees to a rematch they open the door for further scrutiny on their rules and open the door to a team claiming a rematch every year. Overall Goodell will not be seen bending the knee for a franchise. He likes the perception that the NFL can do whatever they like.
  8. I think having another good safety next to Hooker means the center of the field is protected and all you ask of your CB's is to cover the outside quarters which I think our CB's could handle. I do think we need to upgrade our CB's but I think we can wait until 2020. Plus our S are so vulnerable to injury.
  9. In terms of the most important positions of need for next year: DL, WR, S, OL, RB, CB
  10. Guys imagine if we finished 5-11 or 8-8 as was predicted. I feel like spending an hour collecting the pre season targets posted on this forum. If anyone had a target of finishing with a record of 10-6 and then losing to the no. 1 seed in the playoffs they would have been told to be realistic. What was achieved this season was phenomenal! Were in a rebuild with a rookie coaching staff, a QB coming off a career threatening injury and a team largely full of rookies. We need to keep perspective! Our GM is a stud and a HC creating a powerful culture. I believe our future is bright.
  11. The DL depth is really strong for the draft. I think: DL for R1 WR for R2 (Jets Pick) BPA for the other R2 pick. Preferably a S or another DL
  12. Worst pushups ever. Just take gratification in the fact that we could win a push up contest.
  13. Luck is a perfectionist and I think he overthinks when he should trust his instincts. I think we should concentrate on a no-huddle offense so he doesn't have time to overthink.
  14. 0-0 for the last quarter. Forget everything and just play for the sake of the hard work the team gave this season. Then see what happens.
  15. I think the way our defense it set up with two safeties we have good chance at stopping big plays from Hill. The main focus is then to keep their offense in front of us and contain Kelce. Its important to keep Kelce in the middle of the field where our pacey linebackers can negate a few plays. Chiefs love rub routes to get Kelce free so zone coverage will help us avoid big pickup plays. Ultimately you want to take away Mahomes' weapons and force him to win the game by himself. Chiefs are a long yardage team trying long throws every play. If you pressure the quarterback quickly before the receiver has time to run the route it will force Mahomes to make spectacular throws again and again which he'll eventually get picked off. I would drop Turay back as a spy a few times to stop Mahomes from offloading to the RB for short gains once deep threats are unavailable and we are successful at collapsing the pocket.
  16. Imagine the feeling next season after another successful draft and free agency. This team is a sleeping giant. Crazy to think what our discussions will be a about. I'm happy our players were overlooked for the pro bowl if it will keep them hungry for next year. It shows the league still doesn't respect us.
  17. Frank Reich lifting the Lombardi trophy at the end of the season
  18. Leonard for Defensive Rookie of the Year! You don't see Chubb scoring a TD after being down by contact....
  19. Exactly I think the tackler should tackle below the neck but if the receiver lowers his head passed his neck it's the receivers fault.
  20. With every new rule, there's going to be a learning curve, both for officials and players. I don't mind the NFL making the game safer considering every player develops CTE (brain damage) and in 100 years people even the most diehard fans see the current NFL as barbaric. I think the problem is inconsistent calls. At the end of the season, I think the league needs to analyze every call and come up with clear indicators of what constitutes a helmet to helmet foul. I never understand why every player tackles by throwing their body at the runner anyway. Fair enough if you want to punch the balls out to fumble but just throwing your shoulder into the runner is so inefficient. Most of the time the tackle is going to fast and the runner adjusts his path angle slightly and the tackler will whiff. Wrapping your arms around the player when tackling is so effective. The smallest player can bring down the heaviest player by wrapping their arms around the calve muscles when tackling. Unless you don't commit yourself to the tackle using this method, the runner won't be able to get free. Holding the player's legs allows the next tackler to just concentrate on punching the ball out. The only team to encourage wrap tackles were the Seahawks with the Legion of Boom and they cleaned up.
  21. Some cornerbacks that haven't been mentioned yet: DeAndre Baker - CB - Georgia (Early 2nd Rd) Best Defensive Back Finalist Damon Arnette - CB - Ohio State (2nd Rd) Kendall Sheffield - CB - Ohio State (2nd Rd)
  22. I agree. Considering this is a league where casual fans cheer for tackles that are an equivalent of being in a car crash, I think its cheap the same fans are outraged over a push and an off-balanced kick.
  23. Imagine if the Redskins win the Superbowl in two years with a team full of players who they claimed off waivers from violent assault charges. The rest of the league will feel cheated. Thankfully we won't have to worry about this because it's the Redskins but imagine if a team like the Patriots did this.... I think Goodell would fine them because there would be so much butthurt outrage.
