David Parry Update

I don't remember all the information around the incident...it started out with theft or something crazy and then some info came back that it was a golf cart...anyways I'm not in any rush to get rid of a young man doing an incredibly dumb thing but it didn't hurt anyone or potentially hurt anyone. That said he could likely get outplayed in the pre-season and cut anyways.

At least with this Parry either makes the team or he doesn't based on his on the field performance.

The off-the-field stuff has been taken care of.

No jail time.     He will be enrolled in the NFL substance abuse program for his extreme alcohol arrest.    Good.

Now we'll find out Parry really is,  because he's going to have to work his tail off to make the team.

It is nice to be able to say he could be the 3rd string NT.

Good post.  He needs to work his tail off!!!

If they truly wanted him out, they would have cut him already. Plus you dont want em going to the patriots and becoming a top playmaker.

I think it will come down to whether or not Ballard wants that extra spot for another UDFA pick. To be honest, Parry is a good player and for him to be a 2nd 3rd string guy, he would be excellent depth.

He made a dumb mistake but I think that with the suspension and the fines (and the negative press he will be getting once we gets back), he will learn. Similar to what happened with McAfee, who knows!

Looks like he'll avoid jail time with his plea according to this article.

Well now, he is a convicted Felon.
And Parry is facing two more counts of extreme DUI for having a blood-alcohol level above .20, but that case will be handled separately.

I honestly hope he does make the team.  He would be a great backup NT.  One thing the the Colts have lacked in the past is quality depth.  Here's a chance for the team to hold onto some quality depth.  It would be a shame to get rid of him, just to have another team pick him up in the long run.

Once everything happens in May I have a feeling the NFL will lay down the wood

I agree and they should.

He has been in the league long enough that this isn't one of those "Im only a kid and I am allowed mistakes type" situations.  He knows right from wrong at this point.... he is a grown damn man and the things he did are unacceptable... he is also a pro athlete making a lot of money and representing our team.

So, whatever Roger Goodall decides is good with me.

Pretty sure both are misdemeanors if he plead down....

Yep. People act like this is a done deal...but I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the two counts of DUI. They could actually be the worst part of this. Not sure if it would end in jail time...but it doesn't sound like they are going away.

Any time missed = cut hopefully. Tired of dealing with professional *s.

Well...    Parry is NOT a professional *

This is his first and only run-in....   he's led a clean life otherwise to the best of anyone's knowledge...

I hope if he's cut it's because there someone better to beat him out of the job,   not because of a stupid off the field incident.

I think him getting suspended might be what saves him from getting cut, at least while he is suspended. It allows us to keep another roster spot open. Once the suspension is over CB would have to look at the 53rd player and see which of the 2 was more worth keeping. Its essentially an extended period to see what we have in a late round pick/UDFA.

Speaks volumes what they think of our NT depth until things play out by not releasing Parry now with all the cuts made.

I don't think he will be outright cut but my bets are that he won't make the 53 man roster after pre-season.

Yes, I expect if he's suspended we'll see Grover Stewart and McGill (both potential guys) on the roster and CB and CP figure out if either or both of them are better options than Parry.  If so, bye-bye Parry -- if not, Stewart gets stashed on the practice squad.
