Angry Peyton quiets crowd...

You know reading back through that topic it seems OP aside most Colts fans didn't think it was a big deal and the only contention in fact was whether Luck had done the same thing against Denver.

In fact the topic only turned when the Pats calvary to defend a slight that wasn't even there in the first place which lead to the usual bickering and the topic getting locked.

It's reached the point where the topic doesn't matter, it's just the same posters having the same pop at each other. Disagreeing is fine, but let's be adults about how we do it?

Yes. Kind of like this thread. Most Colts fans agree that Manning at least over reacted and was out of line for calling out the operator.

And the slight was inherent from the thread topic and the OP which is why there was such a defense from Pats fans.

But you are right. It is what it is. But for "some" posters to act like Brady is not disparaged up here is a joke. I don't mind it as I enjoy a good debate even if over nonsense. ;)

You're point seemed to be that the crowd had nothing to do with a false start. Which may not be the case.

No the point was that the game was in hand and the crowd was actually quiet at the time of the snap. It is the offense's job to prepare for the crowd especially at that time of the game. It is called situational football and good teams deal with that just fine. Why Peyton did not just walk up to the line and snap it is the baffling part. They were going to run as SD had no TO's. Just walk up and hike it and kneel down or hand it off. All of his notorious histrionics is what cost them the penalty and his insisting shushing of the crowd.

ROFL

Nice reponse.

Just ignoring Colt fans' anti-Peyton posts in this thread, eh?

Just because I logically demolished your pretty transparent attempt to redirect, you tap out?

You got me. You win. I feel destroyed. And me pretending to be on a plane for 7 hours just to escape from the e-humiliation you gave me was very poor. Please accept my apologies.

I have definitely learned my lesson about tangling with you Pats fans.

He has 2 more rings to get before he can close the gap between him and Brady.  All he has shown is that he can continue to be successful when he is completely surrounded by talent at all positions.

Are they playing tennis?  A championship is a team accomplishment, especially the defense, and is almost meaningless in comparing quarterbacks.  Only 5 times has the 1st Team All Pro quarterback won a championship the same season.

Pics or it didn't happen :P

Oh it happened OK. In fact, I got a call from NFLUK on Thursday to tell me I won tickets in the ballot for the NFL Fan Forum which was at 10am this morning. Marshall Faulk, Warrick Dunn and Mick Luckhurst were on the panel, but I had to decline as I landed at 7.30 and would be shattered (correct).

Have to disagree. In fact, earlier on this season, when Tom was not looking so good, our resident Flying Elvii on here bemoaned the lack of weapons as the reason.......oh, wait....

I don't know what the scoreboard people were thinking.  Kind of a huge mistake

Peyton was right to tell the crowd to be quiet but wrong to call somebody out in a press conference like that.  I'm sure people were terrified.  They deserved to be talked to but they didn't deserve that.

Pat fans are digging into this a bit much.

Simmer down everyone

You're right Nadine, but now it may not have been 'the' scoreboard operator, but a Bud Light Total Fan Experience winner!  LOL  This is worth watching...

In theory yes. But that game was done. Hence why it ended with no dramatics.

They always look done until...Joe Pisarcik tries to hand off to Larry Csonka and Herm Edwards returns the fumble for the win with <30 seconds in the game.

It was 2nd and 10 with a full 2 minutes left, clock stopped, after the false start penalty.  This is where miracles could happen, and Peyton has been part of them in his career. A 2nd and 5 is is much easier to get a first down.  Then the game would be over.  But since there had to be two hand offs, there were two chances for a botched snap, poor hand off, or a defender putting his hat on the ball and SD gets a return TD or possession deep in Bronco territory.  Just because that did not happen doesn't mean the possibility of miracle plays to occur never existed.   NFL history is littered with "Miracle" comeback games.  And nobody ever predicted them beforehand.  They just materialize from nothing.

I think Peyton had it in mind they would convert a 1st from 2nd and 5, and then kneel down on it.  In his mind, I' believe he never wanted to have the possibility of a potential punt being blocked at all.  Things turned out very well for Denver and everybody points to that, but things could have gone very bad as well and this topic would have a very different feel to it.

But I think he lost his cool about it and he himself should demonstrate a little bit more poise than he showed.

To be fair, how many times does he have to ask nicely, so to speak?

This happens every single time they play in Denver, over and over again. Every. Game.

It took this much to really drag it out into the light of day. He's had enough of them not getting it. I bet they "get it" now, aye?

That's 'his way',to deal, I get it.  I think most others (and many fans) would say, ask for quiet, if you don't get it, get up there and snap it.  If things go bad, you can hint at it by saying the O had some problems getting on the same page and hearing calls and assignments over the excessively excited crowd.

If a fan was running it fro the Bud Light experience, well...I'll bet that doesn't get included in the future.  LOL!

OK, I don't think we'll have this issue going forward...   ( LOL, this is hilarious!  Good job, whomever... )

Best line ever: "Now hiring in Denver. Send applications to Peyton Manning [i mean] the Denver Broncos front office." haha  Like I said before, 18 is a control freak/dedicated to his craft.

As long as he wins, who gives a darn if his methods are more than a little overzealous in scope & duration. My Patriots friends know if Brady did the same exact thing I'd be defending him too BTW.

Did Manning take it a little too far? Yes, he did, but that's what I expect from compulsive & driven winners. It's who they are; it's what they do. It comes with the territory man.

It's like the scorpion wanting to get across the river & the scorpion stings the frog because "it's in his nature." Winning that is or the quest for perfection 24/7 on the field rather.

This is the biggest non-story I have ever read. I have been reading this thread for two days shaking my head at the Peyton haters that are trying their hardest to demonize him over a slight overreaction.

Dear God!

Get a life.

The only party that should be catching flack for this is the Mile High crowd.

Peyton has always been a baby.

You guys remember that time he chased a referee down the tunnel yelling obscenities at him? Wait....

You're right. At first I thought it was Tom Brady, but on closer inspection, I was wrong. Peyton Manning is so dreamy. I hope he dates my sister.

Our fans woulda known better. He had us whooped inline.

Every game. Every single game in Denver this happens, and it's not the scoreboard guy. That was Peyton saving face so that the fans didn't get uppity.

Exactly right..Peyton was upset about the fans and he told them so without blaming the fans..

He'll buy the scoreboard guy a fruit basket and he got his message across.

You cant have your own fans screwing up your offense because they're puppets to whatever stupidity is on the scoreboard!

Don't cheer when your own QB is trying to call signals.

Try to help your team......not hurt your team...

Jay Cutler said almost the exact same thing about the Chicago crowd up here two years ago..

Nobody had any problem with it (and everybody has problems with Jay) because he was right.

Folks are reaching for a knock on Peyton...

Peyton told his own fans to "Shut the *%#% up".

With a 14 point lead.

And 2 minutes to play.

With the ball.

I find it striking that some Colt fans clearly see why Peyton is being criticized nationally for this , yet some just have to back him up on this.

Game's not over with 2:00 left.....All QBs feel just like Peyton....they're paid to win

Jay Cutler said very much the same thing and he did blame the fans..

But it wasn't a big deal because he was right...

What I find striking is that Your Sole Purpose here is to Knock Peyton.

Get Over it.

Yeah only a handful of writers have criticized him. Most understand his point. Smart football fans don't make noise with the offense on the field. Pretty simple stuff really

And they should have shut the blank up! He's made his desire for silence while the offense is on the field quite clear. Fans need to support their team, even if it means being quiet.

Who is criticizing Manning for this?     Seriously.

The only stories I've seen are ones that cite this as another example of his laser-like singular focus.    I don't see anything negative.

It's a total non story since everyone who is honest already knew Peyton was heavily anal.

And it will only get worse as he ages since it often does with American men.

Well it looks like it has already hit some on here and age had nothing to do with it.   :sarcasm:

    • Yeah it’s the going three and out that’s the issue.  That has nothing to do with the defense.  That’s all on the offense.  If the offense could sustain a drive you’d also rest the defense so they aren’t spent by the 4th quarter as they clearly were in the Texans game too.

    • A primary reason Why he needed to be more active in free agency. He has done well throughout his drafts to add contributing NFL roster caliber players, however, there is a mounting lack of true difference makers  on the defensive roster. His stubbornness with overvaluing his own draft picks is getting very old- especially on defense -to your point. I also realize some of these players are being held back by Bradley's simple and tired defense.
