Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice and his fiancée were both arrested and charged with simple assault over the weekend after a physical altercation at an Atlantic City casino.

 

 

 

In the report, police said Rice and his fiancée "struck each other with their hands," but no injuries were reported. Both were released with summons to appear in court, according to police.

You can almost bet there was alcohol involved. It is a real shame. Ray was a big advocate of anti - cyber bullying in Baltimore. He also visited many local schools, and the kids looked up to him. It is another depressing incident by a football player that should know better.

The thing is, they are in the report as assaulting each other.  This cancels out in a jury's mind as mutual combat.  I'm not sure what other surveillance video will appear and what it will show.  I do remember the Brian Giles incident from around 2008.  Video of him too.  She sued for 100 million,  Jury cited 'mutual comabt' and also thought she was gold digging.  He got off free and clear.

I know thru personal experience what constitutes battery on many occasions  I have faced this issue in my world problems in reach are easily cured .

 

I understand for a fact that reasonable force is a person hits you - you hit back  evenly  that is a gray area  but winnable , But once 1 person exceeds that - that person is charged with battery .

 

And should be . The only way anyone could call that mutual combat which really sounds stupid is if ,  Ray Rice & His girlfriend  had a Rocky scene  where the 2 Rocky & Apollo knock each other out which is once again a stupid idea when considering it was a Man versus a Woman in no way can there ever be anything fair about this situation .

I am sure it does. When you come off a 660 yard season , then knock out your fiancée at a casino , it doesn't bode well for next year. At least he went back and got her shoes , and moved her feet out of the way of the elevator doors closing ! The whole thing is surreal.

Given that Pac Man Jones was found "not guilty" of assaulting that woman at a bar last summer even though witnesses and a video refuted his claims, I wouldn't be surprised if this also comes to nothing especially since I have read that this woman still plans to marry Rice.

I have to wonder how she felt after viewing  this video of him dragging her unconscious body off the elevator, and published for all the world to see.

Whether or not she marries him it has no bearing IMO , The video of him dragging her out of the elevator will go with the Video of her receiving a upper cut which is battery no matter how you slice it . Unless there is equal evidence proving she used equal force there will & cannot be a not guilty .
