andrew should just say hes elite

Except Flacco isn't elite. Winning a Superbowl doesn't make you elite. Especially when you have a top defense generating turnovers for you.

Making the playoffs 5 years in a row indicate he's better than all but a few.

If he's not elite he is top tier anyway.

Ummmm....

Eli Manning two Super Bowls.     Two SB MVP's.

Joe Flacco one.    One SB MVP.

Andrew Luck????????

Hold your horses, Tiger.....

I think you missed the point entirely. 2 years back Eli said he was elite.. everyone laughed.. he ended up winning the SB. This past year, Flacco said he was the best QB in the NFL, basically calling himself elite also. He ended up winning the SB.

OPs point was, maybe Andrew should come out and say he's elite... maybe we'll win the SB..

Schaub already said he was elite, after the loss to the Pats. Per the rule the first QB who says it will win next year's SB. Sorry Andrew gotta wait until the next one.

Actually, didn't both Eli and Flacco say that before the start of the season? That would disqualify Schaub since he didn't wait until after the 2012 NFL season (not the Texan's season) ended.

So technically, Luck can still win his SB next year. :-)

Hmm. Semantics if you ask me. ;)

So sorry.    You are 100% correct.    I completely missed the point.    My bad!      :thanks:

I'll try to pull my head out of my *** now....      :slaphead:

For the Flacco detractors..

1) Rodgers

2) Brady

3) Manning

4) Brees

You really can't put the rookies ahead of him. He's much less injury prone than Big Ben. Eli ... I don't know about that one either. Strong case he's number 5 , plus he's much younger than 3 of the 4 ahead of him. So there is a case that he might be an "elite type" sign . I mean you can make a case tghat he's the 5th best QB out of the 32 starters and he's just hitting his prime while two of the guys ahead of him are the wrong side of 35.

Shredded? More like threw a bunch of hail maries and hoped and prayed someone would catch them... Kind of like what he did to us. That's not elite, that's his receivers making him look good and bailing him out.

^^this!

I will say, however, that he is one cool cucumber. He never showed any panic or frustration during th SF comeback. The OL also did a really good job last night.

he shredded one of the best defenses in the league

So did a rookie quarterback running the same offense is them. Anyone who says he is elite obviously only looks at stats and the picture as a whole, and shouldn't be analyzing. He is an average qb. How dies he move the ball down the field? He lobs it so that only his receivers can catch them. There is nothing special about him. The 49ers defense went downhill this season. They gave up a bunch of points to the falcons as well. Flacco didn't play well in our game really either. He had 3 throws where our bottom ranked cornerbacks couldn't cover. It isn't elite when there are many qbs I would take over him. Rg3, Wilson, kaep, luck, manning, Brady, Ryan, roeth. All better. Half are rookies. Yet better.

sorry to say but other than this year flacco has never carried this team every other year they made the playoffs was because of ray rice and the defense..if he carried them those years like he did this year he'd have a couple championships.

As much as I don't like Flacco, I would consider him elite.

The guy has made the playoffs each and every year he has been in the league. Also he ended up carrying the Ravens through the playoffs against very good teams.

Unless he falls off a cliff statistically, I would already consider him elite.

Good luck to the ravens wanting to make him highest paid player in league lol that's a joke he ain't that good he isn't elite I Dnt care that's like sayin every qb who has won a superbowl is elite

I think it is always foolish to publicly state that you are going to make someone the highest paid. Then anything less is unacceptable to the player. The GM's and owner's hands are tied or they risk losing him. I also agree that he is not as great as he or the Ravens think, but he won't be easily replaceable this year, so it would be in their best interest to re-sign him.

    • Colts are blessed to have such a great owner !
    • Okay, I know this is a Mr. Obvious post, but bear with me.  What else do you have to do during the dead season, lol?   As a Buckeye, I appreciate how good CJ Stroud is.  In MHO CJ had better WRs and RBs when he was at THE OSU than he has in Houston.   So how did TTUN beat us (bad) two years in a row when he was in Columbus?  Simple, their Offense was way better than our Defense.   Bottom line - the Colts D doesn't have to be great.  Average will be good enough - IF the Colts offense is as good as we think it could be and play ball control, has extended drives, and limits the other teams possessions.  And maybe that's the plan considering Ballard not being too concerned with improving the DB rooms.   (Sure, it would be nice to have a great D.  No argument there)
    • Hey Everyone,   So, I just caught wind of Goodson's apology letter after dropping that short pass from Minshew against the Texans last season. Here's my humorous take on the situation:   "Dear Fans, Coaches, Teammates, and Supporters,   I'm writing to apologize for buttering up that short pass in the most critical moment against the Texans. Look, I know I'm the backup running back, but hey, I'm usually good for catching those short throws - emphasis on 'usually'. My bad for turning a routine play into a blooper reel moment.   To my teammates, sorry for making you wonder if I was secretly playing for the other team. Next time, I'll practice catching more than just footballs thrown by the water boy.   To the coaches, maybe let's reconsider throwing short passes to guys who have hands that are more slippery than a greased pig at the county fair. Just a suggestion.   And to the fans, thanks for turning my drop into a meme. I promise to work on my catching skills so I can make highlights, not lowlights, next season.   Sincerely, Goodson (aka the running back who should stick to running)"   Okay, maybe I exaggerated a bit, but you get the gist. Let's hope Goodson has been hitting those catching drills hard this offseason!
    • I remember looking for highlights of TJ after we drafted him.  I kept finding videos of him following OJ Howard into the endzone.  Not sure if Howard was his responsibility, but it didn't paint a promising picture.
    • Ballard,   So, yeah, about that whole "bust" thing—I guess the cat's out of the bag. Turns out, I'm more of a popcorn fart than a thunderclap. My bad.   When you drafted me, I thought I was gonna be the Colts' next big thing. You know, sacking quarterbacks, making highlight reels, maybe even getting my face on a cereal box someday. But instead, I've been about as useful as a screen door on a submarine.   I've watched the tapes, Coach. I've seen the memes. They're comparing my NFL career to a hangover—starts off with high hopes, and ends with regret and a lot of Gatorade. And honestly, I get it. I'm like that guest who shows up to a party uninvited and ends up eating all the chips.   So, here's my mea culpa. I apologize for not living up to the hype. For every missed tackle, every missed sack, and that one time I accidentally tackled our own quarterback in practice (sorry, Philip). I'm like the guy who brings a guitar to a party and insists on playing Wonderwall—I'm annoying and not nearly as good as I think I am.   But hey, I'm not giving up. I'm hitting the gym, studying film (mostly bloopers at this point), and practicing my touchdown dance for when pigs finally fly. I promise to work harder and maybe, just maybe, I'll redeem myself and earn my place in the Hall of Mediocrity.   Thanks for believing in me, and letting me live my dream for 4 years straight whilst simultaneously producing nothing for your team. I'll make you proud yet, even if it's just by being the team's MVP of Bust Central, and we aren't talking bronze heads.    Sincerely, Ben "The Bust" Banagous (Not sponsored by Gatorade yet, but a guy can dream)
