I REALLY like Leonard, I just wonder if we reached a bit on him. I honestly like him more than Malik Jefferson though.

With last nights run on ILB he would be long gone by 49 I like the pick a little bit early ya maybe but the guys production speaks for itself and I love the Braden Smith pick too this line will be awesome.

LANCE ZIERLEIN AT NFL.com on Darius Leonard

Long and twitchy with athletic ability and straight-line speed that should light up the combine. Leonard has packed on the pounds since hitting campus, but it hasn't compromised his play speed as he has posted dominant production throughout. He lacks play strength and there are times you want to see more nasty in his field demeanor, but he has the traits and talent to become a good, three-down linebacker who can play 3-4 inside backer or 4-3 WILL.

Yeah Ballard is really putting an emphasis on the OL right now. If we don't have a great OL in the near future I will be extremely disappointed and surprised.

He moves very well not sure if he's out WLB or MLB i think he can play both he's got some serious wheels on him should be fun to watch. Covers very well also something that a lot of us will find refreshing.

From walterfootball:

"If the first round taught us anything, it's that talented off-LOS linebackers are in demand right now. The Colts had a chance to select one in Roquan Smith at No. 6 overall, but they selected a better player in Quenton Nelson. Leonard is a nice consolation prize in Round 2. He's a speedy, productive linebacker who should be able to play all three downs in Indianapolis' defense."

Sounds like Roquan light, which I'm totally fine with.

I agree on the great pick. Mocked him to us several times.

Don't be so sure about him playing WILL.

He could play MIKE.. :)

I’ll agree that he’s already the best MLB we have already .  I watched some of his highlights last week, he’s awesome flying around the field, great tackler.

Love him in space.  We’ll have to see how he does shaking off 320lb G’s if he’s playing Mike though.  I like him at Will, but we’ll see.

IDK, I think he plays Mike. The next LB we draft will tell us for sure.

He has excellent speed, length, pursuit, and ball skills. I like it, he just needs work

6’2 230 lbs and runs a 4.7 40. Decent size for a WILL backer

And he's faster than 4.7. He pulled something running his 40 and pulled up. I'd bet he's probably a true 4.6 guy if not faster

He's the anti-Morrison, and people are complaining.

Report from Senior Bowl on Leonard from PFF:

https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/draft-15-prospects-for-the-2018-nfl-draft-who-helped-themselves-at-the-senior-bowl

Quote

Darius Leonard, LB, South Carolina State

Game – Overall grade: 81.9

Practice – Key stat: Two forced incompletions, second-most among LBs

Lenoard repeatedly made plays in coverage on Thursday in practice and broke up several passes in general during the week. He finished the week with the highest coverage grade during all practices. With LB snaps diminishing in the NFL, Leonard’s ability to cover backs and tight ends closely will keep him on the field for all three downs in the NFL. In pass coverage drills against backs and tight ends, he forced two incompletions single-handedly, showing his length, speed and coverage ability. Leonard came up with some big goal-line plays by getting in on a stop of Rashaad Penny and denying Southern Mississippi RB Ito Smith a touchdown on a on a flat route by knocking him down short of the goal line. He stood out to our analysts this week and plays like an NFL linebacker, and he rounded out his week with six defensive stops
