For me Ballard's 1st round pick should be one of 2 players, Chubb and Nelson. And preferably he can get one of them after a slight trade down to add a few more picks.

For me if Barkley is there at 3 we will take him.  Polian would and you know Polian is telling Irsay and Ballard what he would do. I don't see Ballard passing on the BP in the draft.   If Barkey's gone I think we are trading back a few spots and taking Nelson.  I think we are going all in on the OL this year.  FA and draft.  We are going to do everything we can to protect Luck.

Why would Chris Ballard simply do what Polian says? Ballard is much more trustworthy at this point with building a roster over Polian. Polian by no means is the final say. He is purely helpful advice.

Beats all OL from last year by 8.

He's certainly an impressive physical specimen.

Wow

Even wow. Hypothetical here but what if we'd go Nelson round 1 and Hernandez round two? Not advocating for it but could just see the forum imploding.

Whoa Walterfootball.com says Will Hernandez beat Nelson's numbers and pushed 37 reps!!

He might have just benched his way to the top of the 2nd round.

He's got short arms.  That helps the strength of the arm to get under the weight quicker and makes it easier to push up.

Is there any way to draft both Chubb and Nelson to the Colts? I’d love them both and Ballard has said he wants to build up the trenches first and foremost!! If somehow we could land both of these guys talk about instant impact on both offense and defense!

Not unless we trade next years pick to move up, which will cost a lot.

If you give up Andrew Luck and have the 1st, 3rd and 4th picks in the draft, you can get Chubb, Nelson and Mayfield  #sarcastic

He's a smart guy.

But honestly, you can probably find that exact same post from me every Feb/March over the last four years...

I know....I was tagging the smart football thinking. Appreciate your posts a great deal.

And I love our GM.

You can't be serious.  I didn't say that.  I said Ballard would not pass on the BP in the draft. That's Barkley.  Polian would give his advice.  Of course he has no say.  Ballard will make the pick but he will listen to his advice.  He will listen to a lot opinions from his staff.  In the end if Barclay is still there at 3 Ballard will take him. That's all I said.

I heard Pat Kirwan say that a Colts strength and conditioning coach once put up 100 reps at 225 lbs. Jim Miller countered that a coach with the Lions put up 54.  Didn't catch names or years... but that is beside the point!!

Today we found out Nelson is strong.

Tomorrow we find out Barkley is fast.

who knew?

Yup... enlightened fans know its the medical and psychological tests along with interviews that matter most to the GM's/Head Coaches at the combine.  Numbers are good, but only to correlate with the film have on the players.  Then again, a very few put up unexpected freak numbers and draw previously minimal attention.

So... uh... Bradley just ran a 4.41.

Dear God please Chubb... do something. Cause holy toldeo Batman, this man is a athletic specimen

Chubb measured today. And he measured like an elite prospect

NC State DE/LB Bradley Chubb

Height: 6-4 3/8

Weight: 269

Hand: 9 7/8

Arm: 34

Wingspan: 79

This is almost carbon copy of Bosa... with longer arms actually...

He has to really amaze to get past Barkley at this point.  He will have his chance.

I mean... depends on how you value the position. He just needs to come close to Bosa's tests... and he will still be ahead of Barkley on my board. And that's no knock on Barkley. He might still be the better player, but he won't be the more valuable one IMO.

And we'd have to hang this from the  LOS rafters...

I put Barkley at the bottom because of the RB class and other needs

The more and more I think about it, the more I think Barkley is a better pick. He seems like a good character kid too, which is what I loved about Malik Hooker.

His shelf life may be shorter than Chubb’s, but who’s to say an injury doesn’t take either of them out early on in the season?

Besides, our team will be better if Andrew has Barkley in the backfield against the tough defenses of our division. They know how to beat us, but with Barkley, they have to gameplan for him too. Two elite talents with the ball every play, not to mention 2nd year Mack and TY.

I have changed my original opinion: Saquon Barkley, no matter what.
