I know random drug test are suppose to be random but are they really? I used to work for a transportation company and they were suppose to do random drug testing too. After five years of talking to other people working there I figured out the company always picked the same ones for random test.

They could get in huge trouble for that.

They should randomly test the NFL brass starting with Roger Goodell so many mistakes over the years whats he on ?  To have a NFL game be canceled because of a paint job is asinine, With NFL players playing a NFL game why would'nt the front office have total control of the situation ?

Random testing for PED's/Steroids ( really all year but now in earnest!) begins in pre-season and lasts all season. Testing for substances of abuse end at the first game of the regular season.

But is is very coincidental how players who were a notch above get that random call for a urine test...

The attitude was paying a huge fine was cheaper than the hiring price. When ever they fired someone that meant an empty truck not making money. There was such a shortage of drivers it was worth the gamble to them. This practice was well known in the industry. It even went as far as the taxes collected by the states we drove in. The trucking industry has a deep influence into what monies are paid to these states. A lot of people are not aware that every truck pays a tax for every loaded mile driven in every state. It's hard to understand if your not knowledgeable in how things work and how many millions of dollars these states make off these taxes collected.

"Random".

You 2 make a compelling point. If Pat keeps get tested so frequently, then a form of PED profiling is occurring here.

Either that, or the league thinks McAfee provides the best quality sample they have ever tested. Just Joking!

After he tests negative for the 999th time maybe they should test his leg to see if it's bionic. That is the real secret, he has a bionic leg and the league doesn't even know it.

Good point CBE. Pat is a machine on special teams so it makes perfect sense.

Here is my question. . . Why don't they just admit that they flag standout individual performances for drug testing??

Would that upset anyone here?

To me I look at it like this.  It's more important for the integrity of the game that Antonio Brown is clean then it is that whoever the Steeler's #5 WR is clean.

I'm not saying there shouldn't be random drug tests even for #5 receivers.  But I am saying that dominate players and performances should receive extra scrutiny.

Please tell me if you think it's wrong to subject dominate players and performances to extra scrutiny?

The only thing I would say is that perhaps there should be a rule concerning a max number of times a player can be drug tested in a year.

I would argue that JJ Watt shouldn't have to take a drug test every week just because he's an amazing player.  But at the same time I would argue that he should rightly take more drug tests then the 53rd man on his roster.

So maybe just limit it to 6 drug tests a league year for any individual player.  That's more then enough tests to make sure they are clean, but not so many that a player should feel like they are constantly hounded.

    • Ravens will miss Mike McDonald, 100%. Joe Burrow's numbers vs Ravens before Mike McDonald was DC was much better, so don't be surprised if the Chiefs put up 30+ on the Ravens in the opening game and win a close one.
    • Yes. The Steelers will never go away. They'll be in the playoffs again thanks to a good draft and defense. Only way they miss is because of Wilson just imploding on a major scale.    Many are putting the Browns as a contender, I don't see it. They were helped by the refs early in the season, and then Flacco played way above his physical ability (no offense Joe). I'm just not a believer in Watson. Never was and probably never will. The guy was outplayed by a "past his prime" vet and a 4th string QB.
    • Your hated Steelers are going to be that fly that doesn't go away, I can bet on it.   Burrow's wrist injury, if he is fully recovered, with the FA and draft additions, they should be back at the top of the AFC North. Ravens lost a few key pieces on D and OL, IMO, though they always have a great floor, just not sure they can reproduce the same ceiling as last year game in and game out.    Texans, on paper, should be a Top 2 seed in the AFC, with plenty of firepower and talent on both sides of the ball. But the games are not played on paper. Bills - unless Sean McDermott and his D evolves, I don't see them helping Josh Allen out when it matters but they did start a new identity with running the ball well for great balance towards the end of last season, so they will be a Top 4 team again because Allen is that good and Tua is not in the same breath as Allen in that division.    Colts, the secondary question marks have to be compensated with the DL pass rush and AR and the offense staying on the field more, that is how we are going to win more close games to make the difference between 7 and 10 wins, IMO.
    • Kupp ran in the 4.6's. Quick brain and quick feet kick tail. Rewatch a Colts game and focus on Downs. He is incredible getting off the line, attacking a zone, he gets open in a flash. Just how you beat pressure.
    • Obviously you dont want to pass up on great talent, but makes me question if we should go DT seeing we just got grove and buckner on extensions. Also the new big guy too. Wouldn't be mad if we drafted that position but would rather go edge again. Could finally get to the old days of Mathis and Freeney!
