Trindon Holiday

Recommended Posts

The Broncos will not tender exclusive rights free agent KR Trindon Holliday a contract, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Holliday was a revelation after coming over from the Texans in 2012, but struggled with fumbles and decision-making last season. He was in the middle of the pack in both punt- and kick-return average. The pint-sized return man isn't going to burn up the open market.

Holiday is a fumbler. I rather get hester or sproles who I heard will be cut soon

If we could get Sproles......WOW. Imagine what Luck could do with him in the passing game. I've been wanting us to have a weapon like him or Woodhead coming out of the backfield for a while.

Isn't Chris Rainey still on the team? He could be our return man. I know he didnt get much of a chance due to injury but I think he could be a great Return Man..If not him then bring Hester in strictly as a return speacialist, Imagine the fear and excitement he'd bring everytime he steps on the field to return kicks!!

Don't hold me to this but I believe we signed Chris to a 1 year deal so we'd have to re-sign him this off-season

Sorry, just a little fun.

I couldn't emotionally handle that again...lol

I believe you're right. Should be a cheap option to bring back since he really didn't get a chance to show anything last season.

I hated the pickup for Denver when they got him, and cringed every single time he fielded a kick. The fumbles lost stats really don't tell the story. I hope that Denver gets rid of him and I don't want him anywhere near the Colts.

Nowadays virtually every kick goes into the end zone, and I would pretty much beg him to just let it go or kneel. He seemed to make the wrong decision virtually every-time, and seemed to go entire games without making it back out to the twenty (but never learning that perhaps he should take the hint and sit on it). And when he did field it, many times he would lose the ball without being contacted and than recapture the ball - almost like he was dribbling it. And he is SO small that any tackle has a serious risk of knocking the ball loose. You'd literally have your stomach in your mouth every-time he came near the ball.

And he is FAR more likely to fumble when their are people near him, so they took him off punt duty during the season. And he never came close to establishing himself in the regular offense - even as part of a trick play. And he's too small to play special teams on the defensive side.

in other words, it's a roster spot wasted on a guy who does ONE thing, and pretty darn poorly at that. His presence is ENTIRELY about the hope that he'll break a big play. In 2012 he had a few, in 2013, not so much. Personally I think that even at the 2012 production he isn't remotely worth it. The premium should be on someone who NEVER fumbles, who's got the brains to only run when the odds are strongly in favor of his making it past the twenty, and who can contribute other things to the team. A special teams TD can turn a game in your favor, but so can a special teams error. With Holiday, the later significantly outnumbered the former. Why roll the dice, just get the offense the ball and let them go to work.

Yeah, he is a threat to put 6 points on the board anytime he has the ball in his hands but thats the problem, if he actually catches the ball the odds are not good it will end up there by the end of the play....Fumbling 11.7 percent of his total Kick/Punt Returns....ouch

Because most of the kicks go in the endzone great returners are not worth as much as they once where but I'd say they are still worth a roster spot at the right price.

All that having been said I don't see any great need to sign Holiday.  But I wouldn't be upset about it either.
