Is playing well against the Browns 1st unit.  He gave Thomas all he could handle when they went against each other.  He needs to learn some move though.

Some guys have the athleticism, but no moves, and suck as pass rushers. Other guys have the athleticism and no moves, but still get to the quarterback. It's funny how that works.

If he can learn one swim move, or one club move, or learn how to bull rush, he would be a really good stand-up pass rusher.

How is a 27 year old man a kid?

Well...   you make a good point, that Rayford is 27....

Still....    he's a kid on the football field....   he hasn't played that much high level football.    He's a raw prospect....   and he's got little if any NFL experience beyond what we're giving him.

So.....   in a manner of speaking,  he's a kid on some level....

Not a big deal one way or the oher....    just sayin....

Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears;

I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.

The domination of 2nd rate players is not a great task;

Must we all remember Marcus Howard had two sacks in one game;

So let it be with Caesar. The noble Joe Thomas

Had his hands full with mightly Caesar:

If it were so, it was an ambitious sign,

And ambitious hath Caesar answer'd it.

Here, beneath the lights of the Lucas Oil Stadium--

For Joe Thomas is an honourable man;

So are they all, all honourable men--

Come I speak to squander the great hope of Caeser.

He who knocks quarterbacks down with one hand:

But he does have five sacks in preseason;

And that does lead the league.

He has brought much to a faulty pass rush

But these preseason games are so faulty:

Did this in Caesar seem ambitious?

When Bjorn Werner was blocked, Caesar kept coming:

Ambition should be made of sterner stuff:

Yet Chuck Pagano says he was ambitious;

And Chuck Pagano is an honourable man.

You all did see him tossing offensive tackles around

He thrice slammed the quarterback to the ground,

With one called back for penalty: was this ambition?

Yet Greg Manusky says he was ambitious;

And, sure, he is an honourable man.

I speak not sway you about the powers of Caeser,

But here I am to speak what I do know.

She how might Caeser brings it on every play:

What cause withholds you then, to doubt him?

O judgment! thou art fled to brutish beasts,

And men have lost their faith in dominant pass rushers;

My heart does say that mighty Caeser is for real,

Another diamond in the rough from the AFL. I don't know how colts scouts can sit through those games but its paying major dividends! And if Mathis can teach the 6'7" Rayford how to do the Freeney spin, O...M...G Becky!

    • Good post.   I have thought this for at least six or so years. I thought it would have happened by now but WRs are getting paid almost like QBs now. So, you may be right. QBs are valued and having great weapons enables them to be more successful.   I also thought teams would begin to select WRs lower in the draft, the way RBs are, but that has not happened. In fact, it seems that WRs are being drafted earlier in the draft. This year, three WRs were drafted in the top 10 and at least one other was drafted in the first round.   I still think the value of WRs may drop because there are so many talented WRs coming out of college every year, but it may not happen yet.
    • I can't really debate that comparing Lynch/Shannahan to Ballard/Frank-Irsay is kind of silly because Lynch/Shannahan has had way more success. I was just trying to point out that many people only care if you win the SB and neither have. I think Ballard may have made the best move in his career when he hired Shane. How we went 9-8 last year was a miracle, a lot of it was due to coaching.
    • I see a noticeable difference after a new HC and two drafts. Ballard seems smarter just that quick. And I see our current issues on defense, and inexperienced QB the reason the playoffs are unlikely. I question the football intellect of all that expect it.  And comparing Lynch/Shanahan to Ballard/Frank-Irsay is silliness.   We are headed in the right direction finally.
    • Jared is a Colts fan.   He has some issues that cause him to overreact.  He is a good kid.    He admits his condition causes him to over react.  The kid is a die hard colts fan though
