Was a really weird injury for the hit that happened. I’ve had it a couple times and it will probably be sore for weeks.

I'm expecting the Colts will.keep the status of both AR and JT up in the air till Sunday. Hoping it will hinder the Jaguars defensive strategy gameplan. Which in reality, will have little to no effect.

Man we sure have a lot of people on this forum that know if a player should play or not without ever meeting the player let alone examining him and I am going to guess almost all of them aren’t even doctors.  I wish I could be that gifted!

 

Since I am not I am going to trust whatever the team doctors tell the Colts they should do with their injured players.

Sounds like from what Steichen said on Colts round table there is a good chance AR will practice We’d. He said if he can run around and have good footwork he will play.

Watching the replay you can see the pad that he has that covers the lower back kind of shifted as he got hit. Weird fluky hit in a bad spot.

I’m all for resting him to be completely honest, I think they should honestly use as much caution as they can with AR and these pesky injuries. I’m sure that Flacco shouldn’t have a problem with the Jags. But obviously they shouldn’t announce who’s going to start until the day of the game.

Why does something like this bother you?   Do you simply object to second guessing the Colts about anything?

 

Many people have followed football long enough to know that when certain words are used at certain times, certain outcomes tend to happen.    They are displaying intelligent pattern recognition around messaging, then merely forming opinions based upon their conservative or liberal standards about, ultimately, whether or not they want to risk the player aggravating an injury just to win one game.

I've one of those. They're not debilitating but the hurt and they linger. Don't know how it would affect his throwing motion. I'd say if he's not 100% let him rest. We should be able to beat the Jags with Joe.

I think he will play. But the real concern is Taylor because it will put a lot of pressure on AR to throw if he can’t go.

It’s not up for him to decide he is ready, the medical staff trumps all of the players choices. If the medical staff thinks he should sit after testing it out then he will sit.

QB play through stuff. You can’t continue to baby him.  It will toughen him up letting him play through minor injuries.

I never said QBs can’t play through injuries. I said to practice caution with him especially with an injury that will certainly cause pain everytime he throws the ball. It’s not about Babying him it’s about protecting your investment. If they truly see him as a franchise QB for the next decade you need to protect him at all costs. We have already seen what injuries have done to him in season one and now season two. Unless you want an Andrew Luck part 2. Keep AR HEALTHY

Richardson practiced the whole week as the starter...Joe came in cold and without a gameplan geared towards himself.  Pittman/Downs and even our TEs had better games, because Joe can process everything SO much faster than Richardson.

 

Do I think Flacco is the long term answer? Obviously not, especially with his age... Do I think we would win more games THIS year with him, yes, I actually do.

 

Also, I see SO many people saying that Richardson HAS to play to get better... yet Steve Young, Aaron Rogers and many others got better by sitting behind a veteran and learning the game...   Yes, reps will help...but throwing him in before he is ready just because "he has to play to get better!!!!" can also crush his confidence, leave him second guessing every decision and ultimately making him worse than had he sat behind a vet for a while.

 

Not every QB is Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck, and ready to start from day 1, and that's perfectly fine!   Many very talented QBs have failed in the NFL simply because they were rushed into a situation they werent ready for.

That's exactly what someone is doing when they say a player should play or be kept out based on an injury they have very, very little information about.  That's why they have actual doctors, to make those decisions. Even someone on this forum who is a licensed medical doctor has no business making any suggestion about a players status unless they have personally examined said player.

Flacco was not very good. He hit a few 3rd down throws to open receivers. The offense was stagnant. He plays a whole game we are toast.

He threw 2tds and had a 106 rating 3/4 of a game as the back up. Thats seen as good by many people. He isn’t an elite starting QB but he is a very capable backup that can win games.

I don't agree.  Flacco came in and done exactly what he was brought it to do. He wasn't the starter so he wasn't taking the snaps from the starting unit.

That’s what a backup should do. Bur if your asking him to play more then a game or two your in trouble

Maybe? Maybe not? Flacco took the Browns into the playoffs last season.  I'm not sure if writing him off is true at this point.

He limits the offense. He isn’t winning us a SB. All it accomplishes is not developing your QB. We have to stop with AR has been so awful Flacco should play.

If AR is just battling soreness then you 100% start him. You can’t bubble wrap him and he has to play to progress

I had a major injury in 2013 and tore of the nerves in my abdomen. I’m in constant pain because of it I would imagine his is less severe than mine

Flacco did exactly what he was brought here to do.  He knows his role, so does Richardson and most importantly the Colts.  Despite what some fans want this is Richardson’s team when healthy for better or worse.

It's not about that.  It's about doing what it takes to win. AR is going to get his time. He still has to learn to protect himself.  It will come but keeping us in the hunt calls for Flacco at times.
