2024 draft hot takes

Recommended Posts

Marshawn Kneeland will be the best EDGE rusher in the class.

Xavier Worthy is the next Tyreek Hill on the Chiefs at 32

Marvin Harrison Jr is NOT the first WR off the board

Brock Bowers makes it to the Colts pick at 15

6 QBs go in the first round

The Colts miss out on drafting Brock Bowers.

Colts make a trade with the Browns for David Njoku sending our R3P82 to Cleveland for Njoku and their R6P208.  Njoku will cost the Browns 24M as a cap hit if he is still on the roster in 2026 but that would be erased if traded or cut prior.

Colts trade back in R2 with the Bills for their R2P plus R3P99 and R6P198.

I hope Kneeland makes it to our second. I doubt it but still hopeful.

Penix Jr will be a better NFL QB than any other QB in this draft.   Caleb williams won't get a second contract with the team that drafts him.

This definitely qualifies as a hot take.

More of a conspiracy than a hot take but Marvin Harrison Jr. is purposely avoiding testing and trying to drop down in the draft so that the Colts can trade up to him and he can go to his dads team

I also wondered if this was a possibility.  With NIL deals we know these young athletes are getting paid and surely would make up what they would lose being draft later.  If your MPJ know the fanbase has been wanting MHJ which might be the reason MPJ hasn't signed a long-term deal.

The Rams appear to have 12 draft picks.

See the Colts trading back in Round 1 with the Rams R1P19 and get LAR R3P83

They have needs at CB, edge rusher, receiver, o line and TE according to the google machine. The first three spots should have a good prospect available to draw them in.

My hot take is too hot for the forum's eyes right now. I will be mulling it over for a bit more before sharing....

Can't wait.

Brock Bowers is overrated and I think he's more like... a day 2 pick than a top 10-15 pick. :dunno:

That will take years to confirm. Any immediate ones like "Nabers is drafted before Marvin Harrison Jr."?

    • What would drive me to say that is the need to try to draw a bright line between GMs, which I don't really have.  In this case, I think its safer to simply put them all in the same "didn't know" bucket.    And I assume team need played a part.  Jimmy G was  kind of on thin ice and Trey Lance had some questions by that time, privately I think, motivating SF to take Purdy at all.
    • Speed was 24 when he was drafted and it took him a few years to develop.   Flowers is going to be 27 and is only in his 3rd season.   COVID played a role because of the extra year, but Ballard seems to gravitate toward older prospects. I would be interested to see how he compares to other GMs. I bet he way's up there. His 2022   Not meant to be a Ballard grievance, just an observation.
    • I see your point , but the point can be made that Lynch , while not a "genius " for waiting as long as he did , was at the least  , smarter than the other 31 GMs.
    • I get the “old school” mentality of the current logo but it would look very sharp to have a horseshoe on the field instead.  I have to admit I cringe when I see the low quality helmet logo when watching home games
    • The Pacers by winning last night gives them their 11th appearance in the Final 8 as an NBA franchise since the league went to 16 teams in 1984 making the playoffs. 1994, 1995, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2004, 2005, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2024.   -Eastern Conference Finals appearances = 1994, 1995, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2004, 2013, 2014. (8)   -NBA Finals appearances = 2000. (1)   -No NBA Championships but still a very good franchise looking at those numbers. The year the Pacers won the East (2000), they had to face Shaq, Kobe, and Phil otherwise we win it all that season and Reggie has his ring.    -I will go by since 1984 but here is my all-time Pacers team since 1984: PG - TY Haliburton SG - Reggie Miller SF - Paul George PF - Myles Turner (I have Turner here/Rik is my Center. C - Rik Smits 6th Man - PF - David West   My HeadCoach is Larry Bird. From 1998-2000 he made the Conference Finals in all 3 seasons he coached and the Finals in 2000.
