Ravens ESPN writer predicts Ravens will release Haloti Ngata

Recommended Posts

I'm afraid of what it might cost to sign him. His current contract is huge.

he won't be cheap obviously, but he'll be much cheaper than Suh...fits the system, is familiar with Pagano, is a proven elite player that still has a couple elite level years left.

I'd say it's a no brainer.

The Baltimore to Indy train is boarding. I'd take Mcphee and Ngata. Is 10 mil to much for Ngata? And would he take that or is he going to look for more? I don't think many teams will pay that. With that being said Ngata would greatly improve our defense. We could get McPhee and Ngata for the price of Suh I think.

Again, another big name FA linked to the Colts. Why do people keep buying into this stuff?

A.     Because of the Baltimore Indy connection.

B.    Because he played D for Pagano.

C.    Because it's a position of need for the Colts.

D.    Because he should be affordable.

Do you need more reasons than this?

I'm not predicting this will happen,  I'm just saying it's not unreasonable to think it might....

It all starts up front.  Ever since the Luck era started, I didn't know we had a front.  It might cost us a lot, but theres more than enough overpaid players we can cut to relief cap space in the future. We want a SB before we have to pay our franchise QB.

Because we have a bunch of cap space and an attractive organization. Not to mention the link between Ngata and Pagano.

I get the Baltimore connection thing, but everyone expects us to go after everyone. In one topic people are saying we're interested in Knighton, and then now the Colts are definitely interested in Ngata. It's the same reasoning with McPhee. It's like now every guy the Ravens cut, we're interested in. We're not the Eagles.

Much of it is media driven, I think. And the media gets info from agents at this time of year, floating every possible connection for their clients, as if there's a ton of interest even before they come available. So if they can say "yeah, we like Team X," and Team X seems like a reasonable destination, then the made up rumors turn into "reports."

We'll be tied to every Baltimore defender that's every available, whether there's real interest or not.

You're a new Colts fan, yet you get it. I don't understand how others don't.

He needs to be priority #1 if he is released. A proven player at NT, and already familiar with the Colts defense...a perfect fit. Two other big guys to go after are FS Devin McCourty for obvious reasons(fills a big need and takes away from the Pats), and either OG Mike Iupati or OG Clint Boling.

After getting NT, FS, and RG situated, then getting another pass rusher like Tamba Hali would be the cherry on top of a great free agency for the Colts.

A big "yes, please" to signing Ngata from me!

haha  & people say people don't have manners these days. You're priceless 21. Just priceless.

On a serious note, it would be so strange not seeing Ngata in Baltimore purple & black man, but SW1 would love seeing him in INDY blue & white. He's a freaking stud at his position.

I'm not predicitng anything either, but I can guarantee that if he were to be released, Grigson will have him in the office that day

Exactly PB. Grigs would escort him into LOS. "Halo [Hello]ti there sir. Maryland may Ngata [Not] want ya anymore but the blue horseshoe would embrace you with open arms man. "

Plus, he's experienced & almost always on the field & productive for games. Maybe Pagano can sweet talk him into signing with us for less dough too.

I've seen 1st hand what's it's like when he's in & when he's out like night & day baby. The dude is incredible!

It's like asking NE if they missed Vince Wilfork when he was injured, well yeah very much so. Ngata is a difference maker who always makes his presence known no matter what down or QTR it is.

    • Ha. Yep.    If ya ain't got one though, ya have to keep hittin' the slots until you win.
    • Yeah, like Bo Nix??     So much over reaching for QBs.
    • The Matt Gay hate is a convenient outlet for Chris Ballard hate. Which explains why it's mostly unreasonable.   However, I don't understand why they're putting him out there right now. He's evidently hurt, and he needs some time to get right.
    • Speaking of Baker:   I've been skeptical that Bryce Young can overcome the marks against him, so I'm not exactly waiting for him to turn it on. But I was skeptical about Baker as well, for different reasons. He never looked as ineffective and incapable as Bryce has looked so far, but he's a good example of a player who a) was in a bad situation, and b) still had to get better at QBing.
    • Well, I thought the Olubi kid showed some solid play making ability with good tackling so i'm surprised they pushed rookie Carlies, who missed a fair amount of time, ahead of him so quickly. So one could say the position has been addressed by drafting a LB each of the last 2 seasons with guys our people like.  Carlies did play 46 snaps Sunday. Like our other Gus led LB's he didn't seem to be where he needed to be when needed. But what the hey, that becomes much more likely when you have 2-3 seasons under your belt, With a d-line playing well in front of you.     It wouldn't surprise me at all if Williams throws for 250+ with 3 touchdowns. The little devil on my shoulder tells me it would be a good thing, just another nail in Gus's coffin. And of course that is a sad place to be. lol
