My fearless prediction: Reggie Wayne will come back - as Adrian Peterson did from his knee - as strong - IF NOT STRONGER - than ever. Will have a banner year.

And I am going to make it a point to hang those non believers with egg on their faces out to dry - and quote every negative thing they ever said about him.

Oh yeah - now I remember - due to his age he will be a step slow anyways - I forgot!

Bozos one and all.

Funny how you don't comment on the subject matter at hand, but are somehow compelled only to criticize the poster - and the methodology he used to arrive at his  conclusion. Actually not funny at all kind of desperate and sad if you ask me. I have a strong "gut feeling" about my point of view which for me takes precedence over logic and history.

Reggie until proven otherwise.

Simple and to the point.

Even at his age and coming off an ACL tear, Reggie has years of experience and knowledge under his belt that the younger guys have yet to gain. That goes a long way in playing skill positions like receiver in terms of how to beat certain coverages and what not. Once week one hits and we see how Reggie bounces back from the injury, it's still him at the top, IMO.

I don't know how to answer this question. That's a good thing. We have a really good set of receivers, assuming they're healthy.

Mr. "I have an answer for everything" is suddenly speechless? On the other receiver thread he must have almost a dozen posts.

Hard to believe. I have already clearly stated my opinion here, so this is not about me attacking the poster.

What gives? We need your infinite wisdom on this topic, for sure.

Why stop now?  Let it all hang out. Give us your gut for a change. Tell us what you really think.

Im not saying this just because hes a forum poster, going back to others of your post as well but come on have a lil respect for people? I have respect for anyone on here and there opinion and very rarely go after any one. Im not arguing with anything you say, in fact I agree with you. I beleive we have Wayne for atleast 2 more seasons. However I don't enjoy reading through forums and seeing sarcasm and lack of respect. I agree with you on a lot of post however this is a forum, forum's are for discussing diffrent views and opinions. If you dont agree thats fine and its okay too discuss it respectfully. It turns alot of people away seeing the harshness of not just you but several others towards people who think otherwise. My .02 cents still much respect.

Thanks, but - and I mean this sincerely - I think he is perfectly capable of speaking for himself. I also think you should consider the subject matter and comment as you see fit - rather than attack the poster. Mine was not an attack but a request - to man up and give us his projection, prediction, educated guess -- based on his GUT - which last I looked - is what this thread happens to be about.

Let's be brave and go out on a limb for once. I am sure we would all love to hear his opinion on this interesting subject.

You have a strange interpretation of not attacking the poster. It's really strange to see someone find a way to pick on an innocuous post from almost two weeks ago, especially on such a tame topic. It's a good thing you have such a good handle on sarcasm, otherwise, your intentions would be clear to everyone.

Does it really matter what my gut says in June about our WR corps? Why not enjoy discussing the other opinions in this thread?

Either TY or Nicks.  Reggie is probably #3 at best.  He could be #4.

He's 35 coming off an ACL tear.  I'm sorry I just can't ignore that.

So we went from being 'lost without him', to him being irrelevant within 12 months, even although have no insight on how he has recovered? Pretty harsh I'd say.

I believe that my intentions are crystal clear.

Do I have this right? If the thread involves a subject matter that is calling for analytical left-brain fact and stats regurgitation - you are in?

BUT - if the thread involves a subject matter that requires a little right-brain action in order to arrive at a prediction or a "gut feeling" - "it doesn't really matter" to you and you are not interested in sharing? Or is it that you simply consider this particular subject matter beneath you and would in some cases - consider sharing a little "gut-feeling" action with us if the topic was right for you?

I am really serious and really curious and I am struggling with this board and trying to come to my own conclusions in the big picture.

I wouldn't say he's irrelevant, the #3 receiver is not irrelevant.  However I just don't see at his age coming off an ACL tear for him to come out and play like the #1 receiver again.  Especially with the depth we have at the position.

I'm not interested in being put in a box. I'm not sure why you're trying to figure me out, or whatever, but I have a bunch of posts on this board. They say a lot more about me than the one post in this thread does. If you're trying to reach conclusions, to whatever extent that's possible, you should be able to do so.

Have at it.

Uhh what?  I think the difference is, some people have their "gut feelings" but may not want to put their guess on paper, depending on what the topic is.  This question can't be substantiated or answered until the evidence is available - the "left brained analytical regurgitation of stats" you called it.  Here, the "best WR on the roster" can't really be proved until at least some portion of the 2014 season plays out.  There's injuries (and coming off injury) to consider, play calling, mismatches, age, and so many other variables, its impossible to make this judgment before summer camp has even started.  It's the same reason why I have no particular opinion on this topic.

If the question is, "who is the best receiver on our roster to date?"  Then the answer is simple, Reggie Wayne.  And that's really all your asking, because we only have previous stats to guess as to who will be the best wr on our roster.    Me personally, I share in Superman's "not wanting to be put in the box" in some respects.  In others, I'm okay with being put in the box.  I like to make arguments for players we should draft based on film review, because that's what GMs and scouts do.  It's fun to me to play GM.  You're looking at the same evidence (film) to make a judment as to who will contribute most to your team in the following years.  Here, asking  who will be the best WR on this year's roster without anything except previous stats and production isn't very fruitful or analytical IMO because  we don't even have summer camp to look at and see how a particular player will be used.  And I really don't mean to sound like this is "beneath me" as you put it, but since I'm not there in camp and practices to see how guys are playing or how I want to use them in this year's playbook, I don't find it interesting.  Doesn't make you or me less intelligent or a fan or whatever, it jsut means we have different interests when we talk about the colts in some aspects.  So for right now, guessing who will be the best WR on this roster is not quite as interesting in my opinion.  Doesn't mean we cna't have these conversations, because some people might think this topic is fun to take part in, such as yourself.  But to insult a major contributor to these forums isn't really the way to go about it.  Most people just ignore or dont' respond to posts that they don't think furthers the conversation in their mind.

Offensively PC, I enjoyed your post very much, it cleared up some definite confusion I have and I appreciate your taking the time to walk me through it. I don't understand the "fact" guys and most of the time they simply make me yawn. I am working on my tolerance for others, and it is going to take me some time and I hope some of you will grant me that time. If not, send me on a fast path off this forum, that would be fine too.  So here we go:

This thread originally seemed to me to be a lot of fun - lots of people posting from the beginning - and from what I could gather most everyone was having a pretty good time in a pretty rough football period - speculating on what MIGHT be as far as the wide receiver pecking order goes. A lot of light hearted banter if you ask me.

All of a sudden Mr. SuperModerator swoops in - and as far as I am concerned ruins the thread. HE can't possibly post anything about this topic - he is way too  smart for that - with the implication being that anyone who does is obviously inferior to the position he has so carefully thought out. And I am thinking, is the forum really that rigid that a moderator has to come along with this type of implication? I wish he would have followed your advice OffensivelyPC and simply NOT responded:

"Most people just ignore or dont' respond to posts that they don't think furthers the conversation in their mind."

Might I point out he was CERTAINLY NOT trying to further the conversation, even after repeated urging on my part. He still refuses to "play along" and I do respect that. That is his choice, but I do find it a little strange. We aren't saving lives, it a football forum.

He had to make it clear that the SMART money is on the ones who don't speciulate, the ones who don't make crazy irrational "guesses" about the WR pecking order.  Sorry, I just felt it was dead wrong and I didn't mean it to become so confrontational - I really didn't. Had it been a regular member, I probably would not have been bothered, but seeing it was a mod - well it obviously got under my skin. I think mods should be held to a higher standard.

Thanks again, OffensivelyPC. Appreciate it.

Again, a strange way of not attacking the poster. Whatever beef you have with me, you're definitely missing the point.

1) My original post was simply to say that I think there are a lot of different ways of determining who the best WR on the team is. Wayne's health, Nicks' ability to rebound, and Hilton's continued development are the biggest factors involved. My post simply meant that I don't know who the best WR on the team is right now. How that post ruined the thread -- pardon me while I laugh about that ridiculous assertion -- is completely beyond me. You act like I came in and slammed the original poster and everyone else in the thread: This is a stupid question and a stupid topic, how could anyone say who is the best receiver already? You guys are lame... Needless to say, I didn't say anything like that.

2) You reading anything else into my post is clearly a reflection of your personal opinion of me. You can dislike me or my posting, but there was no implication in my post other than what I wrote above. You're very wrong about this idea that I think I'm above the ideas being posted in this thread, that I'm smarter than the others posting. As a matter of fact, my post clearly stated that I don't know who the best WR on the team is.

3) My post was on topic. I like our WR corps, and that should be clear from my post. Your posts have essentially gone out of their way to derail this thread, simply because you don't like what I posted. Rather than, as OPC stated, just ignoring me. You aren't trying to further the conversation; you're trying to pick a bone. And honestly, if you wanted to pick a bone with me, there are a ton of my posts that you could have singled out. You want to have it out with an opinionated poster, and you chose the least opinionated post I've ever made???

4) I speculate all the time. I've speculated on this same topic many times over the past few months. I didn't think this was the thread for more of my speculation. I simply wanted to share that I think we have several good options on our team to lead the way next season. Why would that bug you so much?

5) My posts represent me as a poster. They are not a representation of the mod team or the standards of this message board. If you have a problem with my posts, feel free to report them, and the mod team will consider your report.

LaVon Brazil.... Marvin 2.0 I tell ya

You must have seen those TD catches against the Pats in the playoffs, which apparently some of us missed. You didn't even have to squint and he looked like Marvin. Especially the over the shoulder catch. Not even mentioning that smoking touchdown against the Bengals when he embarrassed 5 defenders!
